It's okay, but I've been talking with Brendan and hopefully we can get one Randall Munroe.

There'd best be Rock Band action at t3h MAGfest.

Sonic Adventure 2. I know people will probably disagree, but I found a lot of the "heavy" music to be quite enjoyable.

Still have 0 mixes?

Oh god... LOL. "They don't call me Gina Vasquez for nothing!"

Are you referring to the game where two kids find the electric monster's hideout (a tree) and end up in another world?

This wasn't loading for me, so I groaned and downloaded it, figured it wouldn't be worth my time. So then I opened it up and fullscreened it. That was made of awesome. What's the song they used?

You wanted to know my forum name when I didn't yet have one. And you got all disgruntled, so that kind of discouraged me from pursuing further conversation. But hey, I'll be sure to have it this time!

He wants to know why he got banned.

Here's a perfect example. I believe Dhsu is correct in that all of OCRemix's tracks are fair game for external use so long as credit is granted, but Andy doesn't like it I won't put him in the compromising position of having music associated with something he doesn't personally endorse. That said, I hope to sway Andy, Darkesword, and any other skeptics. As far as quality is concerned, I'm not sure what to tell you except that we're doing our best. This is something Wayne has been working on for over a decade and all of us have been running through the chapters with a fine-toothed comb. I'm a creative writing minor, so I've been providing him with excerpts on craft that I've been assigned to read. So what does quality mean to you? Is our faithfulness to the game a concern? I can tell you now that pretty much all changes (i.e. Crono talking) are functions meant to abstract the story out of a game environment and make them accessible to CT novices and veterans alike. We've taken the original translation to task as well, making use of Kwhazit's translation as we rework the dialogue to try and mix accuracy with cultural relevance (you won't find Soy Sauce, Mayonnaise or Vinegar in our novel). I obviously cannot promise that it will live up to your standards, since I know we won't be able to please everyone. But whether you like it or not, know that none of us are doing anything half-assed. Gah, stupid simultaneous posting. For one, in order to gain official publication, we'll need Square's approval. They know about us and we haven't been C&D'ed, so that shows they're interested in what we're up to. IMO, there are few ways it could be considered more canon than official publication with Square's endorsement. Wayne had the idea of aligning with Chrono Crisis, but I pointed out that could damage our intentions of maintaining our scope to the plot which Square has already given us. I don't really see what the harm in reading just a chapter would be. Again, we're not adding anything outrageous, but we are putting in enough new stuff in order to appeal to veterans of the game.

JAMSpace at MAGFest 6 (Organizational Thread)
The Pezman replied to Escariot's topic in General Discussion
What you wrote is still kinda big. In my mind, "big" constitutes anything larger than three or four people. What is the likelihood that people who happen to play those instruments will manage to bring them AND be interested in the Jamspace AND be able to play the music well? -
Yeah, Claddou Shou is gone, along with any ambitions of that script of his. I don't know if Darkesword would like to read what we've got. We're in the process of undergoing major revision (since Wayne wrote a lot of it some time ago) so if he were to read some of our newer stuff... hell, that'd be cool with us.

Maybe, but this still helps. Any comments/opinions on an official alliance/endorsement?

So you can all tell by my sig that I'm an editor on the Chrono Trigger Novel Project. We've been making a lot of strides forward and will be doing something pretty monumental before the end of the year. Those of you at MAGFest last year may remember me and Wayne, the project author and coordinator, working at a booth. We made friends with Liontamer, Taucer and a few others. Afterwards I became a community member here. Wayne may not be returning (though I've encouraged him to) but I definitely will be, and hopefully we'll have one of the other editors coming in Wayne's place. I want to have a full event this time, and have already cleared permission for that from Mr. MAGFest. I could use your help: I want to have a dramatic reading of select sections from the novel, and will follow that up with a Q&A session and, finally, entreat the crowd for petition signatures. Since you know (and like) this project, I was hoping I could use Chrono Trigger remixes as background music, Chrono Symphonic mixes included. In addition, when Brendan asked what time I'd like the panel to be, I answered that I'd like it right before or after OCRemix's. He even suggested the possibility of integration, though I don't think that last suggestion is in the cards. Anyways, I'm here now asking for permission from the different remix artists if I can use their tracks. We don't have all the novel written (we're a bit past the halfway point, at Zeal) but we still have more than enough for a dramatic reading. While I'm here discussing this, I also want to bring up something I brought up to Larry last time. I don't know if there's an official affiliation that can be formed between these two organizations, but I think it would be beneficial. Our novel is seeking official publication. Square knows about us and we have NOT been C&D'ed. So it's not like we're some crackpot group of fanfictionists with delusions of grandeur. But I digress. The purpose of this thread is to talk about panels. Any remixers with CT mixes, let me know if I can use your stuff as background music. And anyone let me know if I can have OCR's official support in this endeavor.

WCT - The Writing Competition Thread [September Round]
The Pezman replied to G_D's topic in Competitions
I can submit something. I wrote it for Creative Writing class (I'm a CW minor) and it'll get workshopped next week. It's 10 pages long, double-spaced. Should I just post it? -
what music library/playback program do you use?
The Pezman replied to prophetik music's topic in General Discussion
Zoom Player, mothafuckas. It's set up in a similar presentational style to Windows Media Player, but because it's not as flashy or bloated with all sorts of online features, it runs incredibly smoothly. Supports just about any format under the sun (I encode all my music in Monkey's Audio), and I have spoken with the developer through email to talk about ways to improve the player. If anyone here knows how to write chiptune filters, let me know. ZP would support those as well. -
Video game survey for class - ULTRA SHORT - win an album
The Pezman replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
NEWCOMER: Pezman Practically, what Zircon is putting forward makes a whole lot of sense. But consider what this would do to the game as a living, breathing world. Well, single player RPGs anyway. For simplicity's sake, I'll use the example near and dear to all our hearts, Final Fantasy VII. What if that had been broken down into these various aspects? You'd pay extra to go to Wutai, and the extra WEAPON bosses as well. And rather than having to go through the sidequest for the Master Materia, you could probably just pay a (large) fee to get it instead. Nobody would be playing the same game anymore. That's okay for something as customizable as WoW or Diablo, but for a game like that, when you're trying to create a world and characters that gamers all over the planet can enjoy, standardization is key. Furthermore, that game is a shining, legitimate example of how the media can be art (well, so says IGN), and the consensus really seems to be that great works should not be appended later, even if the original artist has only the best intentions in mind. I'm not 100% sure I agree with that statement, but I do believe that if Final Fantasy VII were to be constantly added to and tweaked, it would lose much (if not all) of its storytelling power and art status. -

FEEDBACK NEEDED: Submission Standards Revision
The Pezman replied to djpretzel's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
I think this is the appropriate place to put this: I just read your weigh-in on the Space Invaders Remix. Are you sure that the four descending pitches were sound effects of the ships moving and not a light (well, light may be an understatement) background theme meant to convey the increasing tension of the incoming vessels? I ask because I've tossed around ements for a Space Invaders mix in my head.
