  1. o_O woah! Now that is interesting. Thanks for providing that info. I'm pretty sure that if Buxer himself had been involved in writing Hard Times it would be credited and listed accordingly. I guess it must mean Buxer had access to all of the unreleased material from The Jetzons whether he wrote any of it or not. I can't figure out how else MJ would have wound up with it all otherwise.Anyways, thanks for digging that up! Great work. (i didn't even think to check BMI's registrations, lol). Yeah, i would imagine it's probably the former option. He always seemed to prefer being the background guy out of the lime light, never doing many interviews, even way back in the day when MJ was in his prime and doing loads of interviews. I guess if he wasn't allowed to talk about it he wouldn't have answered the questions relating to MJ's involvement with Sonic 3 in that interview a few years ago.I know after MJ passed away, Buxer did pop up and do a few interviews like the one i've been mentioning. And about a year ago he and Michael Prince (another person who used to work with MJ) were talking about trying to release some of MJ's material though i don't think it came to pass. There's a tweet that Mr. Prince had posted about it, showing Buxer and himself. Aside from that, Brad seems to have gone off the radar again. But all's fair. If he doesn't want to be found it's probably for a good reason. I'll still be on the look out for him, regardless. If he pops up again i'll let you cool cats know~
  2. Yeah, there is actually. To put it in a nutshell, he's never played the game nor heard the soundtrack so he doesn't know what was used or what was not. Let me just grab a link to the interview. Here you go. Scroll down until you see the yellow Sonic 3 writing, and read that section. .. ...man, i would really love to talk to Buxer. Have an interview with him or something. Sit him down and play him the Sonic 3 soundtrack just to see if he recognises anything else in there. I've tried looking for him on social networks but to no avail If anybody finds this guy online, let me know. Also. Just another neat little bit of info regarding things being sampled. The Minor Boss music in Sonic 3, the voice that yells That was sampled from the beginning of a Robe Base & DJ E-Z Rock track 'Joy & Pain' Lol, literally lifted the vocal straight out from that track and threw it in to Sonic 3! XD
  3. It seems to be just Bruce and Brad. For pretty much all of The Jetzons released work the only names listed as writers seem to be the two main guys. Some of the videos posted by Fervor Music on youtube displays the image of the LP it came from, and on those images Connole and Buxer are the only names appearing on it. I'm hazarding a guess but i'm going to say Buxer was the only person responsible for writing Hard Times. It would explain how the song in its entirety made its way to MJ when he was working on Sonic 3. Not sure if the whole track would have been given to MJ had Connole been connected to writing it ...unless Connole had given permission for Buxer to take it over. But just a guess, as i said. I could be totally wrong here.
  4. It's not as strange as you might think. The way i try to see it is this: A short lived band from the 80's had a tune that was unreleased to anybody until just 4 years ago. This band had fans few and far between, so what were the chances that one of those fans also happened to have played Sonic 3 and known what Ice Cap sounded like? The answer seems to be zero, because none of them noticed when the unreleased track hit YouTube. Instead, this track was found by GeneHF over at Sonic Retro, who must have specifically gone searching for Brad Buxer related articles and then just happened to come across this video due to Brad being the bands keyboardist at the time that Hard Times was recorded. If you ask me, i think we're lucky this was ever found at all. XD
  5. Smoother than melted butter ice on a silk limousine. Love it, Matt. Just love it! Ah man, the Sonic Zone Remix Battle though. We had some good times in that thing, huh? Such a long time ago now ...actually, now that i really think about it, it was that competition that got me speaking to some of you guys in the first place. You, Sir J, Halc, Phonetic Hero. Lol, that competition not only brought out a magnitude of awesome music like this but connected me to some of you on a more personal level ....and then we all skipped merrily off down the road to go and mix up the Sonic CD soundtrack! What a legacy this turned in to, huh XD Anyways, again. Great great track, going to bump this from the playlist for the rest of the evening.
  6. Google must be implying that the OCR forums are a sausage fest.
  7. So, i decided to spend my entire evening last night going through The Jetzons catalogue (or what is available of their stuff on online ...which is not a lot) to see if i can find anything else resembling a Sonic 3 song. And while i'm not finding anything, there are a few other Jetzons songs that do sound very Sonic-y in sound though. So i definitely recommend people to check out their work. Especially if you dig a little New Wave. And if you find anything that i've overlooked then let us know, i'm interested to see what you might dig up. Their track is a beast of a track, i'm really digging that. This unreleased song of theirs is pretty damn smooth too. But there's a very short guitar section at the 1:30 mark which is making me think i've heard this somewhere else before. At first, i thought it was Sandopolis, but in hindsight and after checking it out i've come to realise it really isn't. Dunno though, it does feel like i've heard it somewhere before though. Anyways, yeah. Enjoy. Some great music is sitting there, with or without the Sonic connections.
  8. Ah, yes yes. Thanks for editing the first post and linking to the original article. I found out about this through a news post elsewhere and i overlooked the link back to Retro, so cheers for that! But yeah ...it's first appearance was in Sonic 3 so it shouldn't be a problem, in the grand scheme of things and OCR guidelines. Lol now it makes perfect sense why the original PC port of Sonic 3 at the time had the music for the level completely changed! And now i'm starting to wonder what other VGM music is old music that was never released officially by artists and wound up becoming VGM music later on down the line! XD
  9. Ok, not sure if this has been posted anywhere here on the OCR forums. If it has, my bad. Can't find it anywhere. Nor am i sure if i should be posting this in this sub forum or somewhere else but i digress. Something has recently come to light regarding the legendary ever-so-mostly-remixed Sonic tune of the bag - Ice Cap. Listen to this - What you are listening to is a note for note song that is technically Ice Cap ..roughly a decade before Ice Cap zone even appeared in Sonic 3. The story goes like this. Brad Buxer was the keyboardist from a New Wave band called The Jetzons. This is their unreleased track, called Hard Times. Now, those who have done their homework will know Brad Buxer also contributed music to Sonic 3 ...he should be in the credits for the game, even. What people believe happened is that an unreleased track from The Jetzons winds it way in to the hands of MJ, who had been working on Sonic 3's music at the time. Boom! Instant level music for Ice Cap zone. This ....this is insaaaane! And unbelievably mind blowing. Just figured the vgm community would dig this little find. All credits go to Sonic Retro for digging this one up. LT Edit: http://www.sonicretro.org/2013/11/even-more-sonic-3-music-details-emerge/ - Gotta link Sonic Retro to properly credit this find.
  10. Oh sweet. I'll be sure to promote this out to the SEGA communities and the social networks. Nice little compo, Stevo bro!
  11. 9pm EDT? ...that's, like, ...2am for us Brits D: I'll try and tune in if i'm still awake at that point. How long does the show go on for, roughly?
  12. I don't draw anything worth submitting, by i'll join the group as i'm always head hunting for artists on DA. With an ocremix group on there now it might make the search a bit more easier. Networking, and what not. Cheers!
  13. You know, this section of the forum could really come in handy when i'm head hunting and trying to find an artist for album covers. Good call! I approve of this!
  14. It's just my figure of speech, dude In other terms, 'we sent him a link to the track so he may listen to it' XDI'll let you all know if he gets back to us. I know he's been busy lately with a lot but he usually checks in from time to time ^^
  15. Hey guys! Do you know how i came up with the name 'OverClocked Assembled'? Well, i took the name of this website. And then i ripped off the Avengers! And that's how rap groups are made! Lol, but yeah, it was an absolute pleasure to work on this track and help spearhead what will eventually become one hell of a movement under the OCR roof. The Assembled is now officially IN THE BUILDING! Now continue turning it up and getting down, etc etc. Much love and respect for the support you've shown us all so far! p.s - we've thrown this tune at Naoto Oshima, the guy who created Sonic CD because we're kinda like ...friends ...with him. yeah~
  16. Wow! I was on this?? I don't even remember working on this track! What's Temporal Duality again?
  17. Ah, ok. Cool. In any case, i'll see what i can do within that time, just might be a tad difficult. Since i'm just featuring as a vocalist though maybe i can see about getting the dudes to have the beat started, perhaps. I'll keep ya posted on what happens!
  18. I was more of a SEGA kid during my childhood, didn't own the older Nintendo consoles ..lol, my first was a GameCube. (oh, and a Gameboy. Can't forget that. Pokémon. yeah). But i can't deny the impact this guy had on the industry, i truly respect it all. I mean, it's been noted on record that half the SEGA employee's at that time owe their motivation to their brand because of Nintendo merely existing. People like Sonic's creator 'Yuji Naka' and others like Hoshino and Ohshima have all stated that they felt compelled to make games and consoles as good as Nintendo. Without Nintendo being here there probably wouldn't have been as an iconic SEGA as there was during the 90's, and Yamauchi was the head boss in charge of Nintendo during that era. My respect goes out to him not just for his own work to his company but for also inspiring the other companies around him. Literally speaking, it really did help shape the industry at the time. Yamauchi did something very similar to what the president of SEGA (Okawa) done too, during the Dreamcast era. Upon Okawa's passing he left his money to the company, wanting it to continue forth even after he died. These old skool guys, man. They truly gave a shi- when it came down to their companies. Anyways, all that aside, my hats off to Yamauchi for the work he did in helping run Nintendo and shaping the industry around it. r.i.p~
  19. I'm not sure i'll be able to make it in time for a February check in date, i still need to speak to someone about our track and i want to pick the right moment for that. Things are kinda hectic right now for everybody so i've yet to talk with them. The major thing for me is that VROOM is meant to be wrapping up in February so my hands are completely full leading up to that month, as well as college probably kicking my ass around that time too. Under pressure~ If you can take my word for it that i'll get 'City' rolling a month or two after Feb then i would really appreciate that! Anyways, have a think about it and let me know!
  20. Just gonna throw a PM your way real quick, but for the most part you and me are definitely collaborating on City! XD No doubt about that at all!-EDiT- Yo, Wildfire. You can go put Tuberz's name down on Living in the City's main vocals and live instruments. We may be teaming up with a certain someone to give our tune that EDM vibe. But i'll let you know more about that once i've spoken with them Living in the City, baby! Aaaooowww!! ~♥
  21. Then shake my hand good sir, because the City is ours! XD hahaaaa! Will you be remixing the track and doing all the production as well then, yeah? Or did you want some else to handle that and you just perform the singing? Either way, i'm most certainly down with both! As long as you're on it in some capacity then i'm a happy man! Oh yo, i really shouldn't be getting inspired and excited for this project already, i got so much work to get through ^^; but definitely can't wait for this to kick off next year (or later, or whenever it gets rolling).
