  1. Ooooh, this one is a favourite ... (edit: but yeah, I already picked this previously)
  2. Gotta say I love the way the source has been treated here. The first part reminds me how beautiful just the melody is. The second part is quite clever in using just parts of the arpeggio run. And then we get the full beautiful arpeggio. The glitchy, choppy approach is also really fun! FF4 was a really really impactful game for me when I was a kid, and I get the nostalgia recognition goosebumps here too.
  3. The 7th Saga is great stuff! It'll be interesting to hear the results!
  4. First track is sounding sweet! Really cool selection of 8/16-bit sources too, with a few home computer tunes thrown in! I have to ask ... what is your relationship with Bazooka Bill?
  5. Thanks Henkka! I think I'll take another listen at the source, and look into the drum balance.
  6. Thanks David! I'll take a listen and see if I'll incorporate some of those extremely well-articulated and pin-point thoughts. 1. and 2. especially sound like something I would want to do, thanks! 3. would adjust the song structure which I might judge too much work at this point but I'll certainly give it a pair of mouse-ears and see if they agree with the idea. More importantly, you should certainly check out Castle of Illusion on the Master System; I'm almost shocked that you haven't! Castle of Illusion on 16-bit vs 8-bit is very interesting. The 8-bit version is not trying to do what 16-bit version is doing but only half as good; it's a solid whimsical 8-bit platformer in its own right and in its own, perhaps more deliberate style. The soundtrack also has specific tunes in each version, although the cake level theme is in both. Mega Drive/Genesis version actually has a variation of the theme that I long considered using to extend this arrangement, but I think I'll just wrap it up now rather than sit on it for longer!
  7. Original: Rearrangement: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ven7lnd920h8xx/eino_keskitalo_-_bitter_sweets-20221123-rc2.mp3?dl=0 Older versions: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kankncj3jyypjkd/eino_keskitalo_-_bitter_sweets-20220415-rc1.mp3?dl=0 This one started way back in 2012, during People's Remix Competition round 210. https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC210 I decided that hey, this is actually finished, with just a bit of polish. I was thinking of extending it, but it sounded rounded out enough to me now. It's a bit short, but if you like it, you can simply listen to it again!

  9. Great job representing the Pinball Dreams soundtrack (finally!) on OCR! I like how this one refreshes the original while still being all kinds of homage to it! Always love me some DarkSim tunes.
  10. Ooh, bonus points for using both sources, I like that. edit: Oh wow, both sources are quite impressive on their own right! S-SMP sure can do a lot!

  13. Well, I've been chiseling away on this since the last time... https://www.dropbox.com/s/kdp7igo8trkh5ny/eino_keskitalo_-_sovitus-20220214.mp3?dl=0
  14. I think I might have just claimed a track earlier today. I'd like to quote Darkflamewolf's response on the news: "oh no" I agree.
  15. A big fan of Star Control 2 here. So I enjoyed this! Fun crunchy sound. Is it so that 0:19-0:50 the harmony is a bit "richer" than the original? I really enjoyed that change! The Orz samples unfortunately feel a bit "pasted on top" of the music. They jump out both sonically and rhythmically. They could be made to sit in the mix a bit more smoothly mixing-wise, which might be tough to do as both the voices and the music are quite rough. I understand the music is like this by design and I like it. Rhythmically the voices from the game I don't think ends up being very "musical" as it is. Maybe you could try cutting up the voice samples and try to align them to the music more rhythmically. Bits of it work good, like at 1:03 "we will have a happy party now", the "a happy party now" lines up with the music really nicely, though the "we will have" could still be massaged into the rhythm better. In any case, this was really fun to listen to! The 3DO modulations are cool to bring along, the outro was well done (good way to wrap up as the original is of course a loop) and I also liked the panning on some of the effects!
  16. Haven't gotten around to this yet, but looks like it's now available on Switch: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Justice-Chronicles-2097097.html
  17. Hah yeah, I could definitely see these sources going together. Interesting to hear the triangle channel going quite high in the Guardian Legend tune.
  18. I appreciate the review! I could probably use something like this on the 3DS, there's a lot of similar RPG offerings there in the downloadables and it's hard to tell which one would be worth the time. Might pick this up, the quality of life stuff sounds very good.
  19. Cool ReMix! It's a "straightforward" reinterpretation as it's chippy EDM but it works extremely well! Love the 80s-style drum fill breaks for example. It's very pleasant to pick up the familiar themes and riffs, and there is a lot of original writing that fits in very well. The end result is an energetic mix that brings something new out of the original while maintaining a deep connection to it.
  20. I see IsolinearMoogle finally found a way around the "no favourites threads" policy on the forums.
  21. I just started playing Mega Man 10 and I have to say I appreciate this ReMix a ton. If it makes sense, this has a nice sense of relaxed energy.. Yeah.
