  1. Good luck with this! There's three finished tracks already, that would make a solid backbone for an EP-sized release already! Such a cool concept as well. Lots of big names on the WIP list too! Somebody herd these cats home.
  2. Hi, it seems I can't access the forum thread for Pale Ale from Bale: It says I don't have the permissions to see it. It's visible from the ReMix page, but not when you go to the forum side. (I think the topic isn't in the thread list of the reviews subforum either).
  3. This could be fun. It might be a really fun way to participate if competitors/voters (or just anyone) could influence what games get added to the random draw. Right now it seems that the games that might have a chance to get into the competition are visible only to you.
  4. I've played enough of PSIII to appreciate the rhythmic transformation of this treatment ... also I like the shift that is the ending!
  5. I like to mention @AeroZ for both the chippy, lofi elements of his arrangements that have been directly inspiring for my own arrangements, but also the amazing cello stuff, 7th Saga album in particular. Shnabubula has been an inspiration for many things, amazing musicianship, improvisational capability (showcased through his VGM Cast streams) and for me as a ReMixer, in particular the creative arranging. Same goes for @djpretzel, his arranging unsurprisingly embodies the interpretational aspect of OCR approach, on top of that I appreciate him showing his love for Sega and also doing less-arranged games (like everyone I'm mentioning). Additionally I've been incredibly inspired by my regular collaboration partners @Jorito and @Tuberz McGee. Additional shout-outs to all the album directors and also compo-organizers such as @Bundeslang, @HoboKa, @DarkeSword, @FenixDown and Brandon Strader - I very rarely finish any tracks that don't have competition or album deadlines at last at one point, and/or collaborators to actively work with. So in a very direct way these people are an inspiration to the tracks I ever end up finishing.
  6. I managed about six seconds worth of work.. I'll post it here later.
  7. Sorry I wasn't able to participate in the end! Nice to see the healthy participation!
  8. I like simple stuff that you can play for hours and hours with friends. I'll say Rocket League. Edit: And from the opposite end of the spectrum, Papers, Please. I haven't played a megaton of modern games by any means, but these are so excellent I can't imagine them not being at the top of the pile regardless.
  9. I hate real life disclaimer: not really, but you know what I mean.
  10. It's Lizardcube! (they did the Dragon's Trap remake)
  11. I've been playing a lot of 3D Outrun lately! Splash Wave has always been my favourite of the original trio of the tracks. I do like Camino a Mi Amor from the new tracks from that version as well. Anyway, hoping for a good turnout(run)!
  12. I have! Yesterday I just reached the point where it turned from "trying to figure out the notes" to "this is starting to find some character of its own", which is exciting! Also finally sent in my source pick for the next round. It's a genuine classic and one of my all time favourite VGM pieces!
  13. I think the longer deadline works for me too, as long as I don't do the usual and start working right before the deadline regardless of how much time I'd actually have ...
  14. A beautiful piece! I love the treatment of the source here, taking a high-energy MM level track into something delicate, fragile and somber. And yet the parts are all there in the source material itself. I also appreciate it does what it intends to do and nothing more. One more thing I like about this piece is how the tempo changes naturally. The range of the tempo is quite large, it sounds confident and works great.
  15. Yup, yup, it's all Renoise presets. Looking forward to making it a bit less so in the future!
  16. Ooh ooh ooh.. I've had this idea I've wanted to do for a while.
  17. The trick is to just submit whatever you've got. Like I just did!
  18. I think I should finish my draft and upload it here. The source tune turned out to be pretty tricky! I really like the concept of having to pick source tunes that aren't commonly ReMixed, but of course then we don't have the hit source tunes that lots of people recognise and get excited about.
  19. I like how this track has very clear funk/prog stylings. The organ, the electric piano, the organic drums, popping bass, analog synths.. at the same time, it has also a clear "sequenced and produced on a computer" feel and production to it. I appreciate this combo a lot, don't exactly know why but it makes me feel good. The ending is a bit brief and sudden, I feel like I get what it was going for but just a little more guidance/ramp-up for the sudden ending would have brought out the idea of cutting it out suddenly a bit better. I'm not intensely familiar with Super Metroid music (apart from listening to a ton of rearrangements) but I feel like I certainly recognize the melodies and very much appreciate the refreshing reworking done here. I liked this a lot!
  20. The piece begins with ambient bendings very reminiscent of the of the original sound palette, which I love. The juxtaposition with the organic latin percussion that follows is strange and effective. Overall the idea behind the arrangement is sort of "obvious after the fact" - I'd never thought of this connection before, but it makes perfect sense. Great sound, great playing, and a very enjoyable arrangement. Great work from start to finish!
  21. https://ocremix.org/community/topic/46224/ <-- 'back to ReMix page' takes me to a wrong ReMix.
  22. Hmm, I thought I read the deadline being 1d 10 hours when I checked on Sunday. Either it was reading wrong, or quite possibly I failed to comprehend it.. Yes.. I think I failed to comprehend it.. Here's my late - I suppose bonus - entry: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0ovr1gktk4dqgzd/eino_keskitalo-concept-crash.mp3?dl=0 ping @HoboKa
