  1. Hah yeah, I could definitely see these sources going together. Interesting to hear the triangle channel going quite high in the Guardian Legend tune.
  2. I appreciate the review! I could probably use something like this on the 3DS, there's a lot of similar RPG offerings there in the downloadables and it's hard to tell which one would be worth the time. Might pick this up, the quality of life stuff sounds very good.
  3. Cool ReMix! It's a "straightforward" reinterpretation as it's chippy EDM but it works extremely well! Love the 80s-style drum fill breaks for example. It's very pleasant to pick up the familiar themes and riffs, and there is a lot of original writing that fits in very well. The end result is an energetic mix that brings something new out of the original while maintaining a deep connection to it.
  4. I see IsolinearMoogle finally found a way around the "no favourites threads" policy on the forums.
  5. I just started playing Mega Man 10 and I have to say I appreciate this ReMix a ton. If it makes sense, this has a nice sense of relaxed energy.. Yeah.
  6. This 12tone video about improving listening skills to figure out arrangement is directly relevant for transcribing VGM you want to rearrange:
  7. Definitely got Esther's Dreams vibes as well, maybe because this track sounds a lot like how ilomilo's soundtrack originally sounds. Good stuff! Enjoying the percussion in particular, it's a very effective 'bed' for the song. I didn't have an issue with the ending, I thought it winds down nicely. I was curious about the FAT32 filesystem reference in the title, and it looks like floppy discs are an item in the Digimon world? That's a fun reference.
  8. Very cool vibe. I got a kick out of the way the source was laid on top of 4/4 rhythm between the introduction of the source and transitioning to the 3/4 rhythm. The final climax also was very well constructed.
  9. I don't really have any straight-up chiptunes under my belt (unless I've done some long ago and forgot about it..) I have this small game project soundtrack which is quite chippy: https://github.com/kiigame/adventure_engine/tree/develop/audio ..and a couple of chip-influenced tracks here on OCR: https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR03887 https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR03729 https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR03286
  10. Hi! I guess it's not evident, my music on OCR is here:https://ocremix.org/artist/12710/eino-keskitalo

Did you ever figure out that DOS RPG you were asking about in 2013? :)

  11. @StarZander This sounds like a cool project! I could see myself contributing a track or two. I haven't made GB music before, but I'm familiar with trackers (I use Renoise tracker for all of my tracks here on OCR), and began working on module tunes (.xm format) back in the 90s. I should be able to follow the GB limitations, although I have no direct proof. In fact, this "convert mods using certain specifications" approach sounds like a nice and easy way for me to get into making Game Boy music, interesting to hear GB Studio having this approach!
  12. I still have my WIP and I'd love to finish it some beautiful day.
  13. Here's my bonus entry! I managed to have some fun with the samples. https://www.dropbox.com/s/412o7yh0nmjk6g3/valtava-20200723-wip.mp3?dl=0
  14. I also had an idea and started something, thanks to the sample pack!
  15. Also I'll bring up this acknowledgement by djp in the writeup of that latest (Pyscho Pinball) arrangement: ..which I feel like fits really well in OCR way of treating VGM rearrangement.
  16. PRC has certainly been an important compo for me! https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02812 https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02955 https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR03176 https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR03237 https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR03259 https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR03729 https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR03887 https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR04083
  17. Wonderful to see this one come out! Mixflood was great, and I appreciate the shorter albums a lot actually. Cool cover art too!
  18. Radiowar's ReMixes are definitely something I always check out. His ear for texture and atmosphere results in moods that speak to me. This mix is a wonderful slow-burner, with a beat that propels forward through a contemplative musical soundscape. This very comforting kind of music for me!
  19. Tight dnb action for sure. Reminds me how much I like this kind of stuff, especially when it's this good! Inspiring!
  20. The Konami funk is strong in this one! Our 4-yo gave this the awesome dance approval. Wish I had it on video. Nice touch of ominousness in the outro!
  21. Very cool! Some _very_ nice comments about the soundtrack in the Steam reviews!
