  1. Aaaand purchased. You know, you're entitled (by your remixer status) to post this to Community for more exposure. --Eino
  2. My UNATCO arrangement from Deus Ex came back from the panel with some good feedback in the spring. Now I've got a new, extended WIP in the Workshop, fairly close to resubmission I think. --Eino
  3. The material sounds like the source to me! FWIW I thought the source had some icky moments, where there was a background melody that was at times kind of aimless and seemed to not support the rest of the writing. I didn't hear that in this arrangement, which is a plus. (: The harmonies.. harmonic progression.. whatever.. is a bit unusual, but I didn't hear it in a bad way. Production-wise, the loud bits are really, really loud. It also sounds very dry, not like instruments played in the same room. I suppose the "playing" of the instruments sounds quite mechanical too. I've never arranged orchestral stuff, so I can't really give any insights what to do. Despite these criticisms, I quite enjoyed listening to your arrangement! I've played Columns on a Master System and recall liking the music. Frankly I personally like the MS version of the source better than the Genesis version. (: --Eino
  4. Thanks! So here it is: Newest wip here Pretty close to resubbing. * extended middle part * lotsa other small tweaks Concerns: how's the bass (too much bass?), how's the "mastering" (clipping/pumping/discomfort?), how does the extended middle work? --Eino
  5. I did think "how silly that looks (I love it)" at first, this thread being the first time I hear of this thing.. I actually thought that it looks like a toy but didn't manage to think that it is for the kids. Anyway, I do want to get a 3DS eventually so I'll probably get this.. durability sounds good, we already play on the old DS with my little daughter. But yeah, I have no problem getting this basically for myself. edit: Assuming it comes to Europe some time.. --Eino
  6. Now, where's that bandcamp release? --Eino
  7. Previewing right now, sounding good! I like many of your VGM tracks, and was thinking it would be great to hear something new from you. I'll get this tomorrow! --Eino
  8. So they're trying to make me do a resub, they said NO, NO, NO Decision thread here (very supportive, that's always nice!) I got a good, diverse list of crits that I've mostly addressed: * leads/support clashing, which is hopefully addressed up to the final 3/4 part * layered the lone crash cymbal with more * eased on the reverb a bit * worked on the bass end of mixing (the end was super muddy) * simplified the overly busy drumming in the end of the middle section (though the toms are still too busy) I also overall finetuned the mixing, and I hope I'm not draining the life out of it. Liontamer also criticized the lead sounds for being simple, though Nutritious said it fits in genre context. I might spice them up a bit, but not too much. I still want to use these oldschool trackermusic samples you know. (: Vig also criticized too much screwing with the tempo, which alongside his "overbusy beat" crit is making me consider extending the middle section with a bit of four-to-the-floor beat. edit: There's also some great feedback in this thread that I'll read over again. Here's a current WIP Soo, I'll look at the toms at the end of the middle section, then work on the mixing for the outro, and then perhaps see if I can come up with an extension to the middle part. Stay tuned! --Eino
  9. Wow, I missed this thread before. I think this is pretty cool to offer as a resource, plus the idea of a vocal OCR album sounds like a good one to me. --Eino
  10. *rubs hands together expectantly* edit: So - I can use the Yehat source, as long as I feature the DKC2 fanfare as well? This is new! ..and quite tempting. --Eino
  11. I'm extremely glad to hear that! I might make something out of the DKC2 fanfare as well. Simple sources are fun to make, and I already got an idea. Not sure if I have the time though. --Eino
  12. Thanks! That'd be cool! Ahh duhh, how did I not pick out the UFO theme from your track. I hear it in there now. Thanks for all the feedback in the votes! I'll keep working on this mix too, though I have something of a backlog to work on (but then my mixes always take years to finish). --Eino
  13. Both DrumJ8 and sggod89 came through and incorporated Geoscape 2 into their PRC251 entries, sggod89 doing it so more prominently. Worth checking out! Links in the above post. It so happens I won the round with my Ristar mix (I wasn't allowed to mix my own source pick, but it was a double source round), so here's another classic DOS source: from Star Control 2. PRC252 has started! (also featured: a fanfare theme from Donkey Kong Country 2)--Eino
  14. Alternative rock is definitely a 90s genre and one that'd be cool to hear on this album. Doooiiiiitttt --Eino
  15. From a quick listen, it sounds like you've fixed my earlier arrangement critics regarding the intro, and the sound also sounds more balanced. I'll give it a closer listen later on. Good work! You should probably only post one thread per track though. If you do an update, post in the old thread. You can also edit to update the first post with the new link. --Eino
  16. Well now I'm looking forward to that! --Eino
  17. I thought the Waterworld and Ruins themes were pretty cool. --Eino
  18. I'll probably get a Ristar arrangement done. I hope more arrangements pop up! --Eino
  19. Props for starting an excellent Tomb Raider request thread, hope some mixes eventually result! It's just cool to see all the appreciation in that thread. (:

  20. I couldn't ever get very far in the proper old-school text adventures. Maybe my English wasn't up to par then, or I just preferred to spend the time on more graphical games (not that I didn't play lots of roguelikes). But I've enjoyed a couple of newer interactive fiction games, Photopia, 9:05 and ... this single-turn game I can't remember the name of. These are all pretty short, and I suppose I never really got into the interactive fiction scene, as interesting as it seems to me. --Eino
  21. Ha ha, this is moving so fast. Good going! Dangerous-era MJ was one of the things that I, too, here from the side, was thinking would be great for this concept. Now, someone needs to do a demoscene/doskpop style mix for this as well (and by "someone", I do mean Mazedude). --Eino
