Too bad, I was looking forward to that. But that happens. Still looking forward to the album of course! --Eino

http://www.humblebundle.com/ No thread yet? Are these too frequent already to make any waves? I primarily use a couple years old laptop with Linux. I really appreciate the mandatory Linux releases. Some of these probably work on my machine, Torchlight and (sadly) Rochard likely won't. But most of the time I'm just listening to the soundtracks anyway. I have Dustforce's already, which is pretty good. Probably will get this when I get paid, which would be just in time. --Eino

7 Amazing Chiptune Albums for 1 Dollar!!
Eino Keskitalo replied to Sam Ascher-Weiss's topic in General Discussion
I already got Tracer and Game Genie, which both bring happiness with them, so I went and got this for $5. Which is still dirt cheap. Just like me. --Eino -
finished [PCReMix] Deus Ex - UNATCO theme (Sadevakio)
Eino Keskitalo replied to Eino Keskitalo's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Thanks for the comment! It's nice to hear the mix is appreciated and get suggestions. I have a severe lack of mastering chops, so the thing I'd do would be to push the limiter harder. Or try to even the levels between tracks during the mixing stage. Lots to learn anyway! This was now about as loud as my previous mix (Clockwork Groove) that I submitted, which I compared to some released ReMixes (Mazedude and TheGuitahHero iirc) and it was ok in comparison I thought, maybe a little quieter. Any tips what tracks I should compare it to? --Eino -
Happy birthday to an awesome ReMixer! --Eino

finished [PCReMix] Deus Ex - UNATCO theme (Sadevakio)
Eino Keskitalo replied to Eino Keskitalo's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Latest version: wippity wip Just some mixing tweaks. The bass levels, especially the massive lofi kettle drum probably need some attention. My todo/feedback wanted in the first post still applies. Not sure if I should try to make the mix louder or if this suffices. I'm also less sure if the sounds are good enough (I seek to pass the panel with this). I also came up with a title: "Sadevakio" is Finnish for something like "The Rain Constant", trying to make some sort of a wordplay how it's always raining in cyberpunk settings. --Eino -
I also gave you a vote. --Eino

Game Duels vol.1 ~ a Video Game Mashup EP
Eino Keskitalo replied to Dj Mokram's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the comments, Guifrog.. let's hear more from people who aren't on the project (or Kyle) :> Yes indeed. And I failed the search (I put in "Live-a-Live", it's "Live a Live" in the database). I got a couple of friends to grab the EP and take a listen. It's short enough that people actually seem to do that.. I didn't have much success persuading folks to listen to ARMed and DANGerous - I guess the sheer size of that album makes it a treat for Wild ARMs fans, but a bit more challenging for a casual listener. No such problem here! I got positive comments too, not much specifics, apart from the Omigadrive track sounded "very professional" according to one commenter. I'll agree! --Eino -
Many thanks! I did the level tweaks you suggested and they sounded good to me. I also eased up on the limiter a little - I originally pushed the limiter as hard as I could before it started to deteriorate in my ears, which apparently was a bit much, so I lowered it just in case. Final version If anyone's interested in the Renoise project file, grab it here. Got to write that sub e-mail now.. --Eino

Game Duels vol.1 ~ a Video Game Mashup EP
Eino Keskitalo replied to Dj Mokram's topic in General Discussion
Y'all should be checking this out, it's a concise package of quality tunes with a really fun concept behind it. It covers a lot of ground style-wise. I also think it's cool it has a bunch of games there have been no OC ReMixes of - Prince of Persia (2008), Hagane, Knight 'n' Grail, Ninja Gaiden (XBox), and Live-A-Live. Lots of systems covered too: three of the nine games are from SNES, but the rest are all from different systems. Dj Mokram did an outstanding job directing this thing. He worked very hard to get his EP done - and released! - in a short time-frame, which made it exciting to participate to and also obviously got good results out of the participants. The concept itself also worked great. It was fun to the themes and the tunes for them, and make them work together. I can't speak for my own tune, but at least 4/5 of this EP is excellent, so you shouldn't overlook this release! --Eino -
The PCReMix Initiative ~ Let's put the PC in OC ReMix!
Eino Keskitalo replied to Archangel's topic in ReMix Requests
It's a Commodore 64 track. --Eino -
Hear hear! There's lot of material in the piece. My favourite bit is the chords/riff that first play at 0:11. Personally I'm a bigger fan of the though. (:--Eino

Very apt solo for The Darkness! There was a note at 0:21 that seemed to not fit in though. --Eino -

You can do "edit" and "go advanced" to change the header thing thing. I don't have much to add from before when I commented on the PRC thread.. I love the piece, but it's very hard to hear the source in it. I think I hear the first melody in the source (00:10) first coming in at 01:00 of this version. But I'm not really making the connection as a whole. On its own, I really, really enjoy the piece though. The atmosphere of the piece is amazing.. it feels like this piece really has character and identity. It evokes this sort of strange sense of, hmm, desperation.. and also of space. Heh, can't seem to put it better than that. Also I really love the SIDalicious lead sound coming in around 02:30. --Eino -
Many many thanks for excellent feedback, it's clear you took an insightful listen! Haha, that's a nice compliment The intro is indeed a bit quiet, but I'm drawing a blank what to do about it. So it'll do for now. Thanks for pointing it out, it confirms my suspicion about it. If I get an idea between here and submitting, I'll fix it. Thanks for the production compliments too. I did try to adjust the overly bright EQ in this new revision (below), and now I think it sounds ok - a bit bright, but ok. I can't disagree with those points. The chord structure does change halfway, but only slightly, and overall it's a pretty static piece indeed. The idea to emphasize the breakdown more is a good one. However, I think I'll stick with this (unless it gets NO'd because of that) since I'm reasonably happy with the arrangement and I'm looking to move on. I did mix the pipe/stabby thing a little lower here and there (I tried to mute it occasionally, but the mix felt empty), and added one fill somewhere. I'll keep your feedback in mind for future stuff though! Final candidate 2: here adjusted EQ to be less overly bright mix the pipe/organ/thing a little lower in places to reduce monotony one additional drum fill Workshop mod time yo. --Eino
