  1. Good to hear things are wrapping up. Looking forward to this one! --Eino
  2. I agree with Archangel agreeing with me. Great to see those WIP threads up, I went ahead and added my comments! Let's get this rolling. Show that DarkeSword that this is not a request, but collaboration! (: --Eino
  3. Hey Draconiator, do put PCReMix on the thread title! I thought the source was pretty cool, even though it was basically nothing but basslines. It had a nice atmosphere.. the structure was quite meandering (not necessarily all bad, especially for BGM), and the second part (starting at 00:43) was quite messy. But that's enough about the source! Really nice expansion, with the leads. Good sound, I really like the atmosphere starting with the beginning.. I get this chill-out, feelgood vibe. I really like those quite, tuned percussion -like synths in the background. It might be good to use more source more explicitly, such as the bass fill at 0:17-0:19 (in the source). You could use that in the lead for instance. I didn't hear the previous version, but I like the combination of sounds in this one. The drums are a bit bland. There's room for some subtle, cool percussion to spice them up. The bass + bass drum sounds kind of compressed and a bit loud at the start. Later on it seems fine, although it'd perhaps be nice if the other instruments were brought up a bit in comparison. It seems dominated by the bass, although considering the source, that may well be appropriate. (Plus I'm on cheap headphones). I'm echoing KM*'s sentiment here.. Structure-wise, the piece seems like it wanders a bit towards the end. Up to 1:20 it feels great! The next few measures have a nice jamming variation on the lead, but then the gated synth comes in around 1:29 and, it sounds good, but structurally it's a strange spot to introduce it in my opinion. I'd suggest, at 1:20 just repeating the lead figure (there's enough change with the beat coming in), with perhaps some subtle variation. Then bring in the gated synth and start "improv" on the lead. Just an idea of course. Overall, I liked the piece, it had a great atmosphere, I liked the overall sound. It was really refreshing, so laid-back and relaxed. It'd be good to bring the source in more and more explicitly, and work on the structure and pacing a bit. And of course, continue the piece! Great start in my opinion! --Eino
  4. Go PCReMix go! I have played EOB2 (I actually finished it, but I cheated..) but unfortunately, I didn't have a soundcard in my PC at the time, and I can't remember if there was music in the intro on the beeper. (: Your mix is really deep and dark.. ominous, foreboding. I pretty much agree with Kuolema word to word. Great start! The new music would fit really well to the visuals of the intro! --Eino
  5. Awesome, BlackRazgriz, that's really great to hear! Thanks for the feedback in the votes, everyone. I hope to return to the track one day, I started without inspiration but ended up with an idea how to go on (and got more from the feedback!). For me this is the great benefit of competitions and deadlines - you can force yourself to work and end up with things that you wouldn't have started otherwise. --Eino
  6. "Hotel California" -style gloomy acoustic rendition of the Last Cave track is a great idea! It's no wonder you got that idea, the progression/melody is pretty similar. --Eino
  7. I think we can do something different here. Each of us would slap "PCReMix" to WIP board topic headers and submissions posts. Other people would see PCReMixers helping each other out on the WIP forum - what we should do is when we see a WIP thread with "PCReMix" in it, is to pile on it and give lots of constructive feedback. This way people take notice of this fantastic initiative and join in. There's so many projects around these days, that each of them doesn't get the same level of attention as they used to, from what I can tell. Usually the projects also are worked on mostly out of sight, whereas it'd be interesting and different to try to have this thing happen in plain view. However, some sort of an album would be cool. For instance, when we have a bunch of posted ReMixes, I wonder if djp and site staff would be open to doing a "compilation album", perhaps with new bonus tracks (which could comprise the mixflood). --Eino
  8. There's (at least) two crazy awesome tracks on this album: Starbright and Fuego Frio. Both have this similar warm, acoustic sound, both are beautifully yearning and both are endlessly enjoyable. Thank you prophetik and Abadoss for them! --Eino
  9. Yes. But it makes total sense: they're trying to take over the competition on OCR and make it Cacpom ReMix. --Eino
  10. At least Capcom has given OCR explicit rights to host ReMixes of music from Capcom games with the release SSF2THD, right? So it's totally all right if they support SOPA!! --Eino
  11. Nice first post Brandon! For me.. all the projects I had involvement in were released this year, I got to submit a track (I'm very happy about that alone), I got to participate in a couple of cool People's ReMixing Competition rounds.. Actually pretty nice for a year that I haven't really had the time to much anything music-wise (apart from singing to our baby, which is actually very good practice). Also, the huge amount of albums released have provided, alongside the usual postings, a lot to listen to. It's been a good year! --Eino
  12. I did check this out earlier, and it was worth it to do so, so I do recommend doing so, if you haven't. --Eino
  13. Yeah, I'm expecting this to be a collaborative effort. For instance, marking WIP threads with "PCReMix" when they're under this initiative is a great idea. --Eino
  14. A fantastic initiative (and very nice first post!) - I've been thinking about going back to my early gaming history and doing something with those DOS games especially, since they're underrepresented on OCR.. and here's this thread now. Here's a 'claim' for two tracks. I did a short version of the Death Track track for PRC208, which was a free round (I think I got the melody a bit wrong though). I've also started the TD2192 track already. I have loads of more ideas, but I think I'll only mention them here when I've actually done something. I also don't feel like posting these to the Workshop board quite yet, but any case, I'll be working on these when I can. Death Track intro/menu - - wip (PRC version)Traffic Department 2192 menu/mission 1 - source/gameplay - started working on --Eino
  15. Happy news! Got the album, looking forward to listening to it at work tomorrow. The layering thing sounds interesting. --Eino
  16. Never heard of this game before, pretty cool and funny stuff. Good music too! --Eino
  17. I believe the most important thing is that OA was vanquished and OCR was saved. Now that great powers were gained, and a great evil that has threatened us all has been destroyed, we should be careful, in this delicate situation, not to push OCR back towards destruction! (Are there and JCRPGs, perhaps sequels, that after the big bad has been defeated, there's bitterness and infighting between the heroes that leads to another cataclysm? RPG heroes always end up ridiculously powerful in the end of the game.) --Eino
  18. Looking forward to this, should be interesting. --Eino
  19. I've been adding a few reviews, and I'm up to 8. Raffle raffle! --Eino
  20. Well done in transferring the source to the genre, and worth hearing for the SID-alicious sounds alone. Sounds good for such an early OCR. --Eino
  21. A very well personalized tune, nice soloing and good structure - love the strings at the end. The guitar is unrealistic and a bit dull sounding - the tone and feel of the playing is the same throughout - but what is played is very varied, and it's 2002 anyway.. I'm not very fond of Passing Breeze, but this was a very refreshing arrangement of it. --Eino
  22. Yeah, the tracks for the game are very nice. _ghost's piece wasn't originally written for Crayon Physics Deluxe, so it's not eligible for OCR submission. Of course, nothing's stopping anyone to make a version regardless. --Eino
  23. Yeah, nice sources, both of them. I haven't played Sonic 2 for SMS, but Sonic 1 for Master System was a solid game with some nice tunes in it. --Eino
