  1. Play these every day (preferably in the key of E) and whatever other guitar songs you want. Yeah there's tons of free compressors and mixers and whatnot in the remixing forum...go look there. As for guitar pedals and distortion and whatnot, you need software that gives you that stuff in virtual form, you know, like running your compy as an amp. You'll need RAM though. I use POD Farm, which came with my external soundcard. Pictured here is my POD UX2 and POD Farm. This thread should be in Remixing anyway. Someone move it.
  2. Well, OHC was certainly fun. I'll try to turn out for this more.
  3. You mean.... I'm not the only one who grew up with that game!? Nekofrog is officialy the greatest man alive.
  4. see Zircon also what Sir Nuts said
  5. wait what HOLY SHIT YES YEEEEESSSSSSSSS YEEEEESSSSSSSSS but yeah what Zircon said too
  6. Browsing through here I saw something about a OCR-Tan MMX game. How is that going along?
  7. This is why I have barely used my copies of Fallout 3 and Oblivion.
  8. A easily. Have any of you ever played G.I. Joe for the NES? Holy cow!
  9. Hey, you're part of this too~! and me and Willrock and Rozovian. I just need a new guitar first. Also Mokram giant pic is awesome :D :D
  10. I fixed the avatars I posted previously, but I'll post those later. This place needs many more Guilty Gear Avatars. I will name the specific game for each avatar. Guilty Gear: Sol Badguy Guilty Gear X: Sol Badguy Guilty Gear X: Testament Guilty Gear X: Jam Guilty Gear XX: Slayer Moar later. Guilty Gear X: Millia Rage Guilty Gear X: Testament Guilty Gear XX: Robo-Ky Guilty Gear X: Ky Kiske Guilty Gear X: Dizzy Guilty Gear XX: Kliff Undersn The reason Kliff looks young in some of these is because he transforms into his young form when using overdrive attacks. I'll take a break until Liontamer uploads these. As a side note, all the Guilty Gear avatars already on the site are under the category "Sammy" (because that is the name of the developer of Guilty Gear) Guilty Gear XX: Robo-Ky Guilty Gear Isuka: Robo-Ky MK II Guilty Gear X: May Guilty Gear XX: Slayer Guilty Gear X: Zato-1/Eddie Venom Potemkin Guilty Gear Petit: Ky Kiske Guilty Gear X: Baiken Guilty Gear X: Dizzy Guilty Gear X: Johnny Zato-1/Eddie Guilty Gear XX: Justice LT: I took a couple, but most of them were resizes that weren't sharp. Some of the sprite-based ones were the only ones that turned out decent. Thanks for what did work though.

  12. I can't hear the source here. At all. Of course, I'm not trying to anyway, so it's all good Said statement is actually a good thing; it shows just how creative and original this piece is. It's suprisingly long too. I'll admit that this might be just a little drawn out, but it doesn't hurt the mix whatsoever. I like the weird...crunch sound that comes in from time to time, I'm not sure how to describe it...it first comes in at 0:20, I thought that in particular just gave things a little flair; where did you get this sound if I may ask? I enjoyed the vocals very much, and the lyrics were well-written too (a pop song with good lyrics? madness!). Loved the electronic guitar solo at 3:05 too. To conclude, a solid addition to OCR, well worth checking out, and I'm not really into this sort of music to begin with. Recommended!
  13. The awesome thing about this mix is that, for anyone who doesn't know squat about video game music, it sounds just like any clssical composition from the likes of Beethoven or Mozart. Anyway, the conversion to piano is absolutely amazing. Excellent piece.
  14. Fantastic mix, a personal favorite. I grew up with this game too, which adds to it Your guitar tone sounds really good too, something I'd certainly like to replicate. I probably shouldn't have to say this, but the mastering here is top-notch. I like the progressive, acoustic part at 1:47, and the rest that goes on to 2:26. Gives the mix flavor and keeps things rolling, in other words keeps me interested in it. You gotta love that solo at 3:01, too. Not only is this a creative mix, the production values here are top notch. Highly recommended.
  15. Goldeneye and Half-Life 2? (never played 1) Because Halo is now the cool game to play. You should play it. Because it's cool. Go. Play it now. If you want to be cool.
  16. Guilty Gear X. Fantastic fighting game. (there is a PS2 version tho) I said Skies of Arcadia at the beginning of the thread, but I'm saying it again. Because it's seriously just amazing.
  17. You would probably have to put the midi note in a space by itself. Also if the fade out you have is not working for you, then you do this: CHOOSE YOUR FADEOUT BEEYOTCH Click on the white fade out line to choose the fade out you want. Maybe the fade out you choose will help. You don't need a studio at all. I record guitar just fine and can make it sound fine without a studio. I don't even know what a studio is. Your computer is your studio unless you're going with analog recording, which requires much more equipment and, well, screw that. I assume your live instruments is guitar of some sort. That's what you get this baby for. It'll set you back $300 if I remember correctly. But hey if you want glorious guitar tone and more then get it. You'll be making sexy guitar music in no time. I don't exactly know what you mean by "waveform being poorly timed" though. If you mean being, like, off beat, there's a metronome in Reaper you can use...idk. EDIT: I noticed your profile says you play piano. Do you have a MIDI keyboard? (google image MIDI ports and see if your keyboard has them) The POD I linked up there has midi keyboard capabilities so you can plug in your keyboard to your computer and simply record it that way. No recording with a mic, which is not a good idea to begin with unless the instrument in question is an acoustic guitar. I honestly don't mind the arrangement that much. Live piano would make it better, but eh you could prolly get away without live piano. Like the others said, there's been no real mastering done here, but I sort of worry about that later anyway. Since there's no live instruments here (which involves getting a good recording or tone), you could go ahead and compose the entire thing and worry about mastering at the end.
  18. I could not get into FFXII at all. I sold it two days ago actually.
  19. I seriously think me and you are the only people on OCR who did...
  20. I interpreted fading out in two ways. Either fading out the track by clicking on the end of the whole track audio and dragging to the point where you want to start the fade end/out... ...or simply making certain notes quieter than others by clicking on the top of the note bar and pulling down... (see those gray lines???) I can understand this, but I remember the loudness sounding more sudden and random instead of gradually building up. Perhaps I was not paying attention. It was 1:00 AM after all. This seriously won't take you a whole lot of time to get good at either if you just tinker with it a lot. a month or two at the most. The only hard part is understanding EQing. Unless I forgot something. EDIT: A month or two at the most is assuming you're spending, like, most of your free time on this shit.
  21. Unless you're doing some really insane stuff, you could just keep things this way You want some sick drums? GET KORE PLAYER (you will not regret it). Seriously, it's wonderful if you do not want to spend any monies. I could probably get away with using it for a long time before I end up getting Addictive Drums. I'm glad to see that you're getting into this stuff now Sly! Also Reaper is awesome You could seriously just stick with that forever. As for the song, the arrangement is really nice and imaginative, it's just a bit quiet. Crank up the volume, and if it clips at a point, throw some compression/limiting on that bad boy and it'll fix. Like Gario said, throw on some EQ as well to make it sound nicer (Reaper comes with ReaEQ and that's pretty good in itself). Anyhoo it's like 1:00 A.M. so I'll give this a much more thorough look through tommorow... EDIT: I'd also like to throw in that you say you are a DAW n00b? Just toy around with it for a bit. It really doesn't take a long time to get a good feel for things.
