  1. Fun fact: while at Apex, one of the guys who caught one of the bags at MAG came up to our table and introduced himself. The first thing we asked was "were you the dude who got his eye put out by Deia?" He wasn't.
  2. North America never got games in 50Hz to begin with, so it's never going to be an issue here. Modern video games are also, AFAIK, designed without caring about frequency, because HDTV specs override the old NTSC and PAL standards.
  3. I absolutely cannot wait for Cryamore, and I'm really hoping some of those extra content stretch goals get hit.
  4. You cried when you saw Alice hitchhiking in the desert? *runs* I feel you on Virtue's Last Reward though. The ending on the garden bench just tore me to pieces.
  5. Popping in again to mention Frog Fractions, which I just played on suggestion from a Penny Arcade Report article. Less than an hour of playtime, free flash game. The first 10 minutes were confusing and sort of tedious, though with some admittedly hilarious humor in the upgrades you can purchase. Then I dove underwater after I bought the dragon. Then I LOST MY MIND.
  6. Etrian Odyssey is great stuff, but please be aware that it's a roguelike series, and so you will die. A lot. A WHOLE lot. If you don't have either patience or a tendency to get addicted to good games despite difficulty, stay the hell away.
  7. Mystic Ark on Super Famicom. It's a spiritual sequel to The 7th Saga (this alone gave it a black mark in my book), and it didn't get a fan translation until 2010 (at which point it got two translations nearly back to back). After playing it, I've come to the conclusion that it's still not for everyone, but it's much more solid a game than T7S as far as gameplay is concerned, it's not afraid to make fun of itself, and it seems custom designed to fuck with the player in ways that are almost always hilarious just because it can. DAT HAPPY BOOK.
  8. Yeah, but Star Fox 2 wasn't a discontinued fan game, so that could easily change things as far as this one is concerned. Obviously not my call to make though.
  9. I have three resolutions this year: 1: Lose some weight. At least 10lbs, preferably more. My ultimate goal is to be able to wear a full out Super Sentai/Power Rangers spandex outfit to conventions and actually look good in it. 2: Get back into music. I haven't made a MIDI in years, and it's high time I bumped my production level up. I want at least one remix on this site. Using my own blood, sweat, and tears as opposed to the one mix I have now that's basically a technicality. 3: Do something about this woman I've had a crush on for four years that I've been unable to ask out that entire time for multiple reasons that were neither of our faults. I'd be happy (and slightly disappointed) to remain her friend, or would love to go out on at least one date with her, but I'm tired of being stuck between the two options with no idea how she feels.
  10. Surprise; I'll be there as well!
  11. I'll be there for check-in at 3pm on Wednesday, but will have to run back out around dinnertime with Shariq to go pick Ashamee up from DCA. I can't guarantee we won't play Kamen Rider fighten gaemz for the rest of the night either.
  12. Or alternately, just stay in the hotel 24/7. Win/win! (minus the 3 hour wait for pizza at every meal and the destruction that will eventually do to your digestive system)
  13. I had until 6pm, but went ahead and sent the MAG hotel liaison the final list of OCR block people a little early. We have 15 rooms in our group altogether. If you wanted to get in the group and hadn't submitted yet... too late! I should get an e-mail from the hotel itself shortly after the new year to confirm that the block was created and is intact.
  14. So this year I was the fourth person to request my room be in the OCR block (out of 15), but once again, I was the first to actually request the block be created, so the MAG hotel liaison e-mailed me once again to verify that the list looked correct. We've already run into one missing name that was supposed to be in the list that I'll contact her to let her know about, so it's important that everyone else that requested to be in the block make sure their last name is listed below: Chrapcynski Roget Heiman Jones Baumel Strader Flynn Hsieh Luers Rex Bortz Asulin Maxson Hubbard Lepley EDIT: I had until 6pm today to confirm with the MAG hotel liaison that the list was correct and final, but went ahead and sent the final list to her a few hours early. If you wanted to get in the group and hadn't submitted yet... too late! I should get an e-mail from the hotel itself shortly after the new year to confirm that the block was created and is intact.
  15. Heads up to everyone; MAGFest posted on Twitter yesterday that tomorrow, the 15th, is the final day you can request to have your hotel room in a block. If you've reserved a room but haven't already asked to put your room in the OCR block, do it asap! To fill out the linked form, you'll need the last name of whoever reserved the room as well as the reservation's confirmation number.
  16. The 1up crew hardly even exists anymore, and they rarely do reviews since they've been pruned down to only four people on paid staff. They're pretty much cover stories 24/7 these days. Not saying I disagree with the points already made, but I'm not sure their current integrity is super applicable anymore.
  17. I turn 30 in six months, and yet the 6" stuffed cow is now MY favorite stuffed animal. No regrets.
  18. Donated! Hoping it reaches that 20K stretch goal before tonight.
  19. Really hoping that one hits its Wii U stretch goal. In more nonsensical news, here, have a Kickstarter for The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 - Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie - Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa. It hit its goal in less than a day, and most of the stretch goals are pretty ridiculous, though the Barkley 1 save importer would be nice.
  20. You're right; he couldn't even touch me. It was ridiculous. Though I quickly forgot about it once the ending started rolling. As for Avalanche Abassy, I'm terrified of even going near him, but I megaheated a bunch of Spike Resist VI gems 15 hours ago (and linked the spike resist skill branches), so nobody can do me any spike damage ever again minus the ones that do counter status spike. And for that, I megaheated Debuff Resist VI gems while I was at it. XD Still need to make some Topple and Daze Resist to round it all out though.
  21. For anyone that picked up Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (and if you didn't, WHY THE HELL NOT), there's a bug in the Japanese version that it turns out they didn't fix for the American release. If you save your game while inside the P.E.C. or Crew Quarters puzzle rooms, your save file may be corrupted. Best way to get around this is to just not save in any puzzle room to be safe, in case the bug may pop up elsewhere.
  22. As long as the world provides us Muppet Star Wars, I can live with whatever else this purchase results in, good or bad.
  23. I sent a separate request at beginning of the month to create the block (posted in page 17 about this). I named it "OverClocked ReMix (OCR)", so if you use either the full name or the OCR acronym, Colette should understand which block you're talking about when it comes time for her to round up all the submissions.
  24. Oh hey, resurrected topic! I'm at 160 hours at the moment. I don't have much left to do: I've capped my party's levels and am trying to earn enough AP and SP to finish leveling their arts and skill trees. May or may not fight the superbosses besides Final Marcus (who's stupid easy); still debating that. The only reason I really need to go after them besides bragging rights is to pick up the Veritas Glyph item you need to trade for the final collectible in the Other group. Definitely looking forward to trouncing all the early enemies in New Game + with a level 99 party. My only concern is the fact that I should've fought the final boss 20 to 30 hours ago, and since I waited and capped, I'm probably going to end up curb-stomping the guy. I should've fought him back when he would've been a challenge, even if I wasn't going to start NG+ right then. Anyways, long story short, absolutely amazing game, worth every cent I paid. PS: Favorite songs on the OST are Monado Reacts, Unfinished Battle, Colony 9, Gaur Plains, Satorl Marsh night, Valak Mountain night, Those Who Bear Their Name, (spoiler) Field, and Mechanical Rhythm. My god, such a delicious soundtrack.
  25. Inevitable meetup at your house where EVERYONE THERE wears their Zircon shirt just to see the expression on your face.
