Strange Popping Noises in FL 8
Lunahorum replied to blue.nocturne's topic in Music Composition & Production
one change from fl7 to fl8 is the default rendering is now more accurate. (FL 7 used 6 point hermite and fl8 uses 64 point sinc) You can change these to w/e you want though. doubt this is the problem, but I thought I would mention it. -
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 'Chemical Plant Zone'
Lunahorum replied to Teezord's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
the solo was awesome. I only listened to this once, but i believe a short part of the solo caught me by surprise (it was a short phrase/riff from the opening title I think) -

Where The Hell Is The Delay Compensation In Fl 8????
Lunahorum replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
It would be nice if it was done automatically. It is very tedious to do it by hand when you have, say 4 plugins with different delays and you have to route every track that doesn't have a delay through a delayed mixer channel. It is certainly doable, create 4 mixer tracks and route the nondelayed channels to them, just takes away from the fun of making music, especially knowing that every other host does it automatically w/ "auto pdc on" and "auto pdc off" button. Here's my problem with the current method of pdc (plugin delay compensation) - For example, mixer track 1 is delayed by 0ms or not delayed, mixer track 2 is delayed by 3ms, both sending to mixer track 3 which is delayed by 5ms. Normally this would be taken care of automatically, but here is how it has to be done. steps Find the biggest delay path - 8ms (5ms + 3ms) Now delay everything else to equal 8ms of total delay. Delay mixer track 1 by 3ms since it is routed to track 3 which delays an additional 5ms. Create new mixer track and send all other mixer tracks to this one. Delay this track by 8ms. Notice how this procedure is very algorithmic, something that would be ideal for a computer to do automatically. Every other DAW does it automatically. -

Where The Hell Is The Delay Compensation In Fl 8????
Lunahorum replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
I mean the (!) thing that appears in the mixer because some plugins have to "look ahead" to work and they are delayed, which means everything else has to be delayed equally to compensate. -
Where The Hell Is The Delay Compensation In Fl 8????
Lunahorum replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
bumparooskies I tried the demo of sonar again and realized it has automation envelopes which is cool. Other than GUI, which is a semi-big deal for me, what can Sonar do that Reaper can't? -
Lots of people import the midi and replace the instruments with sytrus presets. I think vgmusic.com has some good ones. Although there is nothing wrong with this approach, you may want to consider doing it without a midi after you get the hang of how to "midi rip" as it is called. Have fun

yes slayer does suck btw.

right click on master mixer, click link selected channels to track

Ok I found it. God FL's delay compensation sucks nuts. How do zircon and sixto get around this crap? Do they use a different DAW now days? Reaper is looking better every day. Does anyone have any macros or workflow tips for getting around this !@$%@. Right now I have to bus everything not being delayed through a delay. Then when I change fx plugins, I am fcked. I wish it were auto. Reaper is my mixing and routing program now. FL's piano roll and event editor is the only thing holding me to it. I might sell my copy of FL and save for Sonar/just use reaper. Does Sonar have a good event editor? (I know it has a good piano roll or so I've heard). I know the piano roll and event editor in reaper aren't prize hens. (unless I am using them wrong) Is there anyway to set the pitch bend to 2 up 12 down in sonar or reaper?

Parasite Eve - battle song mellow idea
Lunahorum replied to HoboKa's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
at :38 there needs to be some filter sweeping into the phat drum beat. I am not sure what's wrong, but it sounds terrible. I can't hear the drums. I suspect it is the bass and pad taking up too much volume, but I don't know. send me the FLP file for this if you can -
Help with chorus/verse/bridge and else
Lunahorum replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
Ok this is mainly the type of music I listen to. I also listen to lots of other stuff, but compared to my friend who introduced me this idea of the chorus, verse, and bridge, I don't listen to as much. For most of the time, I refer to music as a whole as "riff 1" "riff 2" "solo" "riff 1" and stuff like that. I think this will be a good exercise to try and find the chorus and stuff. Can you guys help me identify the parts in this song? thanks. 8 x 4/4 for the intro now at :18 - 8 x 4/4 for this part now at :37 - 8 x 4/4 for thus part now at :55 - 4 x 4/4 vamp up thing now at 1:04 - 4 x 4/4 without vocals now at 1:14 - 8 x 4/4 with vocals now at 1:32 - 8 x 4/4 for this part now at 1:51 - 6 x 4/4 for this part now at 2:05 - 3 x 4/4 which is part of the same riff as the one at :18 now at 2:12 - 3 x 2/4 for this part now at 2:15 - 8 x 4/4 for this part same riff as 1:14 now at 2:33 - 4 x 4/4 filler part? now at 2:42 - 8 x 4/4 for this part now at 3:01 - 9 x 4/4 guitar solo now at 3:20 - 8 x 4/4 keyboard solo now at 3:38 - 3 x 2/4 for this part same as part 2:12 now at 3:40 - 8 x 4/4 for this part which parts are the chorus, verse, ect? Thanks -
Sort of embarrassing that a non-musical friend of mine knew something about music that I didn't know. I don't think it's a big deal at all, but apparently knowing what a verse and chorus is is a huge deal. Can someone give me a quick tutorial of what they are? Thanks. My friend's and wiki's definitions were worthless. Ok so the chorus repeats and the verse doesn't I guess... That really doesn't seem to be that important to know. I would like a more musical savvy explanation of what they are. Thanks
-
yes messing around is good. I believe beat drop made a song with all FL presets and included FL plugins once for beginners to look at. I don't know where it is. sorry
-
ok right click on one of your instruments --> insert --> go to bottom and hit find and refresh (don't click verify one) They should show up. You might have to load your virtual amp in an effects slot (in mixer)

Lunahorum replied to huggie's topic in Music Composition & Production
Huggie is cool -
no you can't add amps to the drop down amp menu in fl slayer. You can, however, make the output of slayer go into a virtual amp. Load in slayer. Link slayer to mixer track K. where K is 1,2,3,4 or w/e Load in virtual amp on mixer track K. Done
-
It depends. And it doesn't matter where you start really. If you have an idea, then start there. A good place to start might be with kick on 1 and 3, snare on 2 and 4. I usually end up doing wooshes and ambient pads last though.
