  1. I would download tabs of progressively harder and harder songs while practicing solely technique a limited amount. Instead take hard parts of the song and turn it into drills. If you can pick the song up by ear do that, but if not, get the tabs/music. I recommend ultimate-guitar website
  2. Excellent work Dragonlord. Fl all the way. We have the peak controller, keyboard controller, and formula controller. Three extremely useful FL only plugins. I am guessing no other daw has something like the keyboard controller. That thing is so useful. If only amplitude 2 worked.... Must... Travel... Into.... Future.... Get... Guitar... Rig.... 10.... Compatible.... With.... Intel.... Quantum Core.....
  3. wow that was way simpler and works better than my sin approximation I feel like a total idiot now lol In case any of you were wondering what a fourier series is, it is a taylor series (approximation series) using sinusoidal waves (fancy name for sine waves) As you can see, the very ends of the graph are less accurate than the middle parts. This is known as the gibbs phenomenon. This happens when approximating square waves too. Can cause clipping even when the square wave is supposed to be not clipping because these series are only accurate at infinite sums of sine waves, not just 50 of them. (see sytrus in FL studio for some gibbs phenomenon stuff) Here is a picture demonstrating how a -12/+2 can be approximated. I feel like a total idiot now lol. I guess I should have done it the easy way first, but I wanted to use some fourier math. edit : here is an example of a non infinite series of sine waves (or overtones) approximating a square wave. Notice how the actual amplitude is slightly different. The approximation I believe is exact (I could be wrong) at infinite sums of sine waves. Shown in the picture is 50 sine waves or 50 overtones. edit: also as a side note, the ear is like a fourier transform (splits a wave into its sine components) because the ear gradually gets narrower and narrower. However far the wave makes it is how high it is in hz or pitch
  4. I changed the formula in the fruity loops pitch remote control from 1:1 to a taylor/fourier series (woot applying math skillz) that ends up equaling ~ +2 /-12
  5. Ya for a mic it's too low for good bit depth Works hella fine for my amateur stuff. Pre amps are for pros with impeccable sounding music. Also if I really absolutely need a good recording, I run the mic into the guitar amp and a line out from amp into sound card on computer. But for guitar it works awesome. Get -15db straight into the jack with no preamp. (hardly any noise too hehe no preamp add noise)
  6. I want to set my pitch wheel to 2 semi tones up and an octave down like JR. How do I do this? I am using FL studio if it matters and impOSCar is my fav synth but I would like to be able to do it with every synth instrument and you name it
  7. i use the line in and digitally preamp. I guess there's not much dynamic range since it converts analog to digital at low levels, but it sounds all right.
  8. i was thining about getting stylus rmx is there a way to convert from wav format to rex format?
  9. have some tempo based portamento and play those notes. Another method would be using slides, but since those notes were all the same length, it would be easier to implement a portamento.
  10. well even without guitar plugged in and card cables removed it has same noise profile. Also when I play a major 3rd on two strings, it sounds terrible, but when I record the bottom of the third then 2nd track a 3rd up on top of it, it sounds good then. What gives? I will give an audio example if needed. http://h1.ripway.com/max97230/dist.mp3 Ok I made this preetty fast. Sorry It's not in rhtym but I recorded 3 parts as fast as I could. The first time the upper 3rds are playing on two different strings at the same time. The second time the upper 3rds are played on two strings but on one string per take. And yes I am muting every string I am not playing even on the two string. ok I figured it out. When I play two notes at once through the same settings, the drive clips it too much. When I play one note at a time then layer them post-distortion, the peaks are not as high so it doesn't get clipped as much.
  11. howcome when I play with ultra high gain, I can hear noise in the background even if I unplug the sound card cables from the guitar, the same amount of noise is still there. Is this referred to as the signal to noise ratio of a sound card?
  12. there should be a hold em poker tourny. I'd be down
  13. Consider moving to California and making millions as a studio guitarist. Sure, I can play powerchords on time but what about a sweep? I neeeeeed quantize or it sounds horrible. I am trying out audiosnap now.
  14. I am trying to record a guitar part. The only problem is that I am not that rhythmically tight on the guitar. On top of that, every 6 seconds or so, the audio lags by a split second. Is there any way to quantize this wave file? (it's not midi information) I searched around, and there is pro tools with beat detective and sonar with audiosnap, but are there any vsts? Thanks
  15. is there anything that sounds like a guitar like in your tal tal mountain heights remix zircon? Is that a zebra or vanguard patch?
  16. Do you play the drums or do you want to learn? If not, these won't make the drum line any more natural sounding. If yes ADGHALSDGH just read in another post you play the drums I don't know anything about electric drum sets. My friend has one. I'll go ask him what he thinks of it.
  17. my .5" chinese mp4 player built in mic works awesome for making an acoustic sound like an electric. I love playing into that thing only to hear an awesome distortion back. Well I guess its pretty lo-fi and not useful for much, but It's good for keeping track of musical ideas.
  18. yep that's definitely it thanks. Now I just have to find what version I heard. Project playlist only had the supremes one. The one I heard was more country/rockish with a faster bass part. Thanks
  19. For goodness sakes no. Absolutely not. Nothing decent can be made without high end software and a top of the line computer.
  20. http://h1.ripway.com/max97230/radiosong.mp3 I made a little part of it as far as I could remember from what I heard on the radio. I think the vocals were "STILL HANGING ONNNNN" or something. In a really high chipmunky voice. I googled still hanging on lyrics and couldn't find anything. Thanks for the help edit: Maybe the lyrics were "LEEAAVEE MEEE ALLOOONNEEE"
