is this ewqlso? what does counterpoint mean? Does it mean playing more than one pitch as once? I took a quick skim over wikipedia's counterpoint, and it is defined as independent lines harmonizing together. Isn't a whole song counterpoint then?

Wild Arms - Flash Of The Boomerang

I like that bell noise at the start. Please direct me to where I can find such a thing. I've been looking for a good anvil/church bell sound for my black metal song in progress. -
1. save to new folder location 2. make another new folder 3. export project bones + midi + whatever else it lets you do All I can offer. Maybe some computer experts will tell you how to retrieve something from memory.

I was thinking about buying some monitors
Lunahorum replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
If I tilt my head down and prop the monitors up, would that be the same as ear level? Or do the monitors have to be 90 degrees for optimum sound? -

Any of you familiar with or own this keyboard?
Lunahorum replied to Cree`'s topic in Music Composition & Production
Do you think not having a mod, pitchbend, or nobs and sliders will be a problem for mixing and composing? No you can do all that with a mouse. You can even enter notes with a mouse just fine. not having a pitch bend whell or a pedal (wah wah, whammy, ect) might be annoying sometimes. If you are learning to play stuff like fur elise though, I don't think there will be a problem. And if it is, you can also play as much as you can live and do the rest with the mouse in your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation - eg: pro tools, reaper) -
Sorry I didn't type anything that game after a certain point. My dad was watching me play and he doesn't like it when I "know" people on the internet!!! o noes!! So I dragged the chat window off the screen. We had to go christmas shopping right after that game so we can do the 2nd game later. edit: max 2 - 0 margoute / kotikmur max 2 - 0 eppy / darkstar

For sale.. M-Audio Audiophile 2496
Lunahorum replied to Majin GeoDooD's topic in Music Composition & Production
good deal right there. I bought mine for 100 including shipping and I love it compared to my old one. The only live playing I do is plracticing guitar and piano and this baby runs that free Tascam giga piano with 4ms of delay (not noticeable) and I can play my amplitude 2 with not even the slightest hint of delay. edit for more detail: comp specs 1.5GHZ single core (lol ya I am old) 2GB ddr2 ram (this is new and helps a lot) integrated graphics card and single monitor ED: hey, why are you selling this card? getting some super awesome one? -
I was thinking about buying some monitors
Lunahorum replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
Ok cool. I think I might get the krk rp-5's. I'll buy one and my parents will buy the other for my christmas present. One more thing - These are active and plug straight into the rca soundcard jacks right? Nothing more is necessary? The only place I will be able to put these will be at sternum/elbow level sitting right on the desk. Will this be ok or do they have do be positioned in a correct spot to avoid phase cancellation and comb filtering phenomena? edit: I mean I sure as hell could go to home depot and build little stands for them, but can I just slide some carboard under them and angle them towards my ears? The desk they will be sitting on is made of plywood. They will also be brushing up against the sides of the monitor and the tower. I know it says they are shielding in the pdf guide on KRK website, but does anyone who has them know if they can be placed touched (about 1/2 inch of room from touching) both sides of the monitor and the tower? Sweet you guys are incredibly helpful - Thanks ed: I could also possibly hang them from my overhead shelf at ear level. I have no idea how I would get them to hang building a contraption myself (might have to buy something), but this is another option if the wooden desk is a problem which I don't know if it is. -
Computer Hardware For Mixing
Lunahorum replied to Skummel Maske's topic in Music Composition & Production
RAM - ESPECIALLY if you are using vista. Depending on how old your motherboard is, you may have a slow FSB? Anything over 4ms of latency is noticable. over 20ms and it is impossible to keep in time. -
If you want to make the volume gradually increase, use an automation clip with the mixer and a plugin that has gain in it (I believe there is something called Fruity Gain). Right click gain knob -> automation clip or event in piano roll edit. There you go. Now this won't sound exactly like a crescendo because real instruments change their tone as they get louder. You might want to experiment with other effects that atuomate at the same time as the volume like a hint of distortion or various other effects.

Lunahorum replied to Cree`'s topic in Music Composition & Production
I ocassionally see ozone note entry keyboards selling on ebay for $70. Musicians friend also has a keyboard sale on some keyboard with sound and speakers built into it. It's probably a piece of junk but it is only $49. -
Where do I get good drum samples?
Lunahorum replied to Nicholestien's topic in Music Composition & Production
agreed. Someone do tutorial on processing drums because mine do either one of two things - sound like a sissy tapping on the drum or sound great & block out the music. -
what genre is this? Epic orchestral or something? I want more music like this. I love this stuff. http://www.waves.com/Content.aspx?id=175 - it's the video to the side Sort of reminds me of the 300 soundtrack. That soundtrack rocked!

i have the full weighted one. It's fine for what I do (practice piano). edit: download tascam free giga piano. It works good. I also have a sustain pedal and expression pedal that are marketed with m-audio keyboards and they are cool too. omg do Ihave a storyto tell. I live in a small town without music stores and for christmas break I went to guitar world in Sacramento today and played the korg oasys for like 3 hours.(and through goodmonitors - you were right snapple, I have never heard through monitors before and It blew me away. Never have heard that clarity before. I am seriously considering getting monitors now or at least saving for them. My budget for monitors is now under $600 instead of $300 now that I have heard how stunning they are) omg korgoasys was a toy of gods among men. Best action of all time. It was like hammer action but 100x smoother. It felt GOODto play. Not to mention the sound was absolutely stunning. I also played the minimoog, drum kits, and dj turntables. It was a blast. Not to mention I played an Ibanez S prestige. That thing was good, but the OASYS is a fucking dream. no overestimate. on my 88, I paid $299. I don't know what thatmeans for the 88es. -

no no no I am just trying to understand what is going on. I know nothing about anything. Thanks for the information. It is extremely helpful. edit: is a subwoof necessary for mixing such music as hiphop or rap where you want a low kick sound or do monitors work fine? -
Getting started with REAPER for free
Lunahorum replied to AMT's topic in Music Composition & Production
Here's another really good freebie Rebirth http://www.rebirthmuseum.com/downloads/main.htm complete with downloadable free patches http://h1.ripway.com/max97230/reaperbouncyball.RPP here's a little ditty I made in reaper. It requires synth1 and crystal. WTF IS GOING ON!!!?!?! I just reopened that project and listened to it and it is WAY WAY DIFFERENT. All the mixer volumes are messed up, and I could be wrong, but I don't think it played the right synth patch either (I altered the presets a bit) well this sucks ass if I can't even save a fucking song. Might as well just stick with working in the FL demo because I can't save there either and it has a way faster note entry. Hmm maybe I just didn't save lol cause it's working fine now. -

I was thinking about buying some monitors

If I get those monitors you mentioned Fray, are they also loud enough to play my keyboard through? I want to play my keyboard through my guitar amp, but I hear tales of people ruining their guitar amps by not playing "a guitar" through them. How can it possibly ruin it? Isn't an amp just a speaker? Ok thanks. edit:posted 2x for some reason -
