  1. I think the shipping was $20 when I originally got it. It doesn't make any sense at all. Can anyone help us / recommend a good shipper?
  2. I tried freightquote to Canada R3N 0E4, and I am getting $300 shipping which is absolutely absurd. I still have the original box and it says 62lbs UPS on it. I tried UPS and they are shipping for $500. Either zzounds has a special deal with UPS or I am missing something. See if you can find anything. The box is 62lbs, 58x16x8+3/4 inches. my zip is 95821
  3. yes keep messing around with fl studio demo It will take a little getting used to before you flow with it.
  4. All those buttons that look like piano keys are just for show. What in the hell did you think a midi controller did hahha? right click on the record button make sure record midi notes is on click record play the midi controller
  5. Hey I am selling my m-audio keystation pro 88. I have had it for about a year, and it's in perfect condition. The reason I am selling it is because it is too big for the college dorms which is where I will be in a few weeks. It has lots of knobs, sliders, buttons, and stuff. I have the original packaging, manual, demo cds, and I also bought an extra long USB cable that it didn't come with. It is a pretty decent keyboard with hammer action. The lighter velocities can be a tad innaccurate, but I would be keeping this beast if I didn't have to live in a little tiny dorm for the next year. Asking price is $200 OBO. I am not sure how much it will cost to ship it. I will look into it. I am in the Sacramento, CA area. You can read more about it here - http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/KeystationPro88.html
  6. you got to options and hit the box that says enable next to your midi controller.
  7. Yea. I pretend like I am interested and like I have the money, and they get out expensive stuff and they want me to try it. It would be nice to try the stuff out just for the hell of it without lying though. edit: I witnessed a complete moron being ripped off today (I went again, I couldn't help myself) . He told the sales rep that he wanted everything to produce his own music. He didn't know anything about anything. He ended up walking out of the store with little crappy monitors ("all monitors are the same right" he asks), some 8 input audio interface ("you will definitely want this one if you want to do drum micing in the future" the sales rep says), a midi controller, and some other crap. I didn't know what to do. I felt like I should have said something to him. Oh I was also looking at getting a new midi controller. I was interested in the axiom 61, but they didn't have one out to play on. I asked the guy if I could try one out to feel how the keys felt. He told me they were semi weighted and then directed me to another semi weighted piano to try out so I could feel them haha. Does anyone know how good the velocity is on the axiom 61? I have a keystation pro 88 right now which is nice, but the velocity seems a bit inaccurate which wouldn't be a big deal except that I am a piano player as well as a midi controller player. Also it is 45 pounds or something. Is anyone interested in it? I would sell it for $250 OBO. Everything works like it is new, and I even bought an extra long usb cable for it. I also have the original manual, driver cd, ableton live demo cd, and everything else. I believe it is $350 retail when on sale and $400 normally.
  8. I love going in there and fiddling around. I got a chance to go in and work on a souped up DAW in an acoustically treated room today. OMG it blows FL studio and my bedroom out of the water. That was the fastest I have ever done anything music, and it sounded absolutely amazing. I made this 20 second trance clip that was just pure ownage. $20,000+ worth of stuff at my finger tips.
  9. ah the export project button. Nice thanks. Yes I make heavy use of dragged samples. I like to record until I get the take I want by slaving edison to the host, and then I drag from edison onto the song window. For some reason when recording using the FL's button at the top, there is lag when I stop recording and it's a pain to delete and record again if it wasn't a good enough take. Edison just seems better. I don't know. Maybe the FL button at the top records with a higher quality.
  10. In FL studio, is there anyway to get the audio files it saves to be saved in a specified folder instead of ...FL Studio\sliced beats or ...FL Studio\recorded. Again, just another pain in the ass. Thanks
  11. hmm I tried that and nothing happened. Maybe it was buggy. I'll try again tomorrow. I've recorded enough parts for one day.
  12. one more thing really quick. Why don't the grid lines in edison mean anything??? Is there anyway to make those grid lines correspond to the 4/4 project gridlines or w/e? Thanks
  13. I like how facebook can keep you connected with friends. It's like an address book on steroids. I DON'T like how the comments are publicly viewable to whoever. Bunch of narcissists running around commenting on each other.
  14. How do I turn scrolling view off and how do I turn that annoying scrub wheel sound off every time I start and stop edison? Thanks aha! found the scrolling view turn off button at the top right.
  15. Not to mention loss of tone do to impedance missmatch (I am not sure on how/why this happens). Anyways I do it anyways as I am too lazy/cheap/not good enough anyways to buy a recording interface.
  16. buy a $50 two octave midi controller off ebay and start going to town. You really do have to make an initial investment. You can't try to get by with free crap all the time. Save $50 and buy a keyboard. If you end up not liking music, then at least you will only have spent $50 instead of spending days after days of worrying about whether or not you would like it or not. example - http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-KORG-MC-1-MICROKONTROL-MIDI-STUDIO-CONTROLLER-NR_W0QQitemZ120302759216QQihZ002QQcategoryZ41784QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/MIDIMAN-M-AUDIO-OXYGEN-8-USB-MIDI-CONTROLLER-KEYBOARD_W0QQitemZ310080465079QQihZ021QQcategoryZ41784QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem edit: O wait do you have a DAW to work in? Before you do anything, download a demo of FL studio/sonar/ableton/reaper/whatever and look at the demo project that comes with it
  17. Oh I found something cool with lots of freebies - http://www.wavosaur.com/ The original website is down, but can be accessed here - http://web.archive.org/web/20041009155611/www.noizware.com/software.htm - or not...
  18. I suck ass at it. Takes me for freaking ever. I blame most of this on the slow computer though.
  19. automation clips in FL are for the song only which is probably the better way to do it? If you want it to come on each pattern though, click on edit in event editor.
  20. Is there a type of distortion that only clips one side of the wave such as the bottom or the top? I was just wondering.
  21. My experience has been that math at the college level is ridiculously easier than high school. *** I have only taken one year of college, and I am no expert in math, but math was easy. Maybe in absolute terms, it was harder; however, relative to the college environment, it was easier. Tutors, professors, study groups, and just plain people that care about your success make everything enjoyable. As long as you abstain from masturbating on youtube everyday, college is fun and easy. On the other hand, I don't have a job so that makes things a lot easier. *** I would like to add that there is more individual time to do whatever you please in college so it takes a little self motivation to nut up and commit time away to studying. I highly recommend study groups and tutors as they are more time efficient. Never think you are too smart for a tutor. However, it is very common to think you understand something and then not be able to replicate individually for the test. Hmm another worthless post by me. Well it can all be summed up by this - "Success in college: don't be a dumbass".
  22. I laughed out loud when I read "like being Jewish, there is a good side to being gay". In all seriousness though good read.
  23. Hey here's a really good video I found that was made on practically no budget. It's only a few minutes long, but I think you guys will appreciate it. It's good for an independent short film. http://en.zappinternet.com/video/nilSqaMboM/HISTORIA-DE-UN-LETRERO-THE-STORY
