Potential OCR Meetup: Six Flags America (MD/DC/VA)
Diodes replied to Arrow's topic in General Discussion
Is there a definite time for lunch + plan to go to the water park after lunch? I was thinking, maybe I could just go for part of the day and join you guys for lunch and the water park, since I'm not really interested in the rides. I just want to see everybody and hang out, basically. (BTW if I am doing that, I don't have a preference on where to do lunch since vegan = pretty much screwed, so I'd probably just eat before going.) -

(I wasn't sure what the right forum for this post is.) I posed this question to my Facebook and thought I'd take it here to see if I could get more responses. The original question was, for those musicians trying to promote your original music, what websites have you found to be the most helpful for promoting your music and growing your fanbase? Also, how do you make the most of your internet presence on these websites, such as Facebook and Twitter? Then there was a bit of discussion, which raised a couple more questions in my mind. What are your thoughts on putting your original tracks on YouTube when you're trying to sell those tracks? YouTube can give your music increased visibility, but would making the full tracks available there discourage people from purchasing CDs or individual digital tracks? The other issue that was raised was that somebody mentioned the legal issues of covering songs on YouTube without licensing them. I had thought it was fine to cover songs as long as you're not making any money from it, but it would be nice to know the real answer. I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

OCR Meetup: Las Vegas, August 2010: **PICS PAGE 43-44**
Diodes replied to Monobrow's topic in General Discussion
We just made it back home a couple of hours ago (we visited the Bay Area and Yosemite after leaving Vegas). We are so tired and slightly jetlagged (well I'm always jetlagged but now I'm even more jetlagged) but it was good times and we will post pictures soon! -
Happy Birthday Jordan .)

Wow. So not what I was asking. But uh... thanks, I guess? -
You could make it deliberately over-the-top cheesy, to ensure that any laughing that people will do will be with you and not at you BTW people, my remix that I wanted to make a video of got its 4th YES, so I guess that means I should start storyboarding. We're definitely doing another one of these after this one? Because there's no way I'll be able to finish this all by the end of the month and oh yeah, song has not been posted yet anyway.

Freshly Baked ReMixer Challenge 2010: It's Over!

I was planning for the Aug 7 deadline, so mine was almost done and I was going to submit it today. But this is nice, it's one less thing to worry about as I prepare for Vegas. I won't have THAT much time after I come back from my vacation, but having a few extra days should theoretically only improve the track, or at the very least, it wouldn't make it worse. -
OCR @ Otakon 2010! (July 31st, 6-8PM, Panel 3, Baltimore, MD)
Diodes replied to Liontamer's topic in Announcements
I don't blame the contestants at all. They were good sports! I had prepared a list of songs for the name that tune, and practiced them in advance. I chose my songs based on the name that tune I did at PAX East, where guessing was open to the entire audience (of 200? 500? I don't remember). At PAX East, even the ones I thought would be more challenging were guessed very quickly. So this time I decided to pick more obscure songs to make it more challenging for the Otakon crowd, which was even bigger than the PAX East crowd if I'm not mistaken. Had I known we were going to only select 2 contestants from the audience, I would have picked much more well-known songs. ; -
This is the storyboarding of a comic story I've had in my head for a while. It's the outline I will use for laying out the panels. Besides the dialogue, there are some descriptions about what the panels will look like. It is mostly for me and may not make a lot of sense, as the finished product is meant to be like a graphic novel, not just written words. However, I probably would not have even started writing this if it weren't for the writing competition, so I'm glad this is around, even if nobody understands my entry. * means next panel Narrative = Words in a rectangular bubble, told from Jared's point of view but not spoken. Title of the story is: So This Is High School This story is not done!!! I just have to submit it now because tomorrow is Otakon and I won't have time to work on this. There's just a bit left to this, maybe I'll write it and post it after Otakon weekend is over, in case anybody actually is curious as to what happens at the end.

I will also pass on the cake, as I am vegan, and hardly feel like subjecting everybody else to eating vegan cake x_x -

Actually, I was debating bringing my acoustic guitar in case of downtime/hangout time in the hotel (particularly during the day, when it might be too hot for anyone to want to leave the hotel). We had lots of hotel-room jam sessions at MAG, I just figured same would happen in Vegas if anyone has instruments around. I may not end up actually bringing it though, because bringing a guitar on the plane can be a big hassle (and may cost extra money if I end up having to check it in). I guess I'll see after Vin + I are packed up, how much stuff we have. -
Hmm, that might work, although I suppose you'd have to be home while we're passing by on our way to Otakon on Friday and Saturday. Also, we were wondering where that pastry brush was ; Haha.

I got totally slammed this summer with things to do that I didn't anticipate. I have a WIP, but I'm afraid the finished product will not be any more than a WIP I'm sorry in advance, PS. But I will definitely have something. -
Oh yeah, Vinnie and I can bring some veggie burgers and probably some kind of pie/cookies/dessrty sweet thing. Stevo, maybe you can recommend a grocery store nearby from which to pick these things up because I don't fancy bringing them to Otakon on Friday and figuring out what to do with veggie burgers for 2 days until the BBQ x_x
