  1. Mega Man! *Drools at the thought* You should of put him on the Brawl Roster, dang it! And where's Sonic?
  2. You guys don't get it. Sakurai himself admits that Ridley was possible. Him and his team just didn't put forth enough effort to make it work. Now there will never be a good excuse for Ridley not being playable. Sakurai ruined it for himself. NOTE: It isn't a very big deal to me, but I feel marginally disappointed and cheated by Sakurai. I would have liked a Luigi-fied version of Dark Samus tho...
  3. Brawl doesn't have a lot of content? What do you call the Subspace Emissary mode, complete with beautifully rendered cutscenes? What about Classic mode, all the multi-man brawls, target tests, homerun contest, coin launcher, scores of trophies, extremely extensive collection of remixed, orchestrated and original soundtracks from dozens of different games, and 39 different fighters?! Did you forget about the 41 stages, stage builder, and Wi-Fi mode (or the "with friends option")? Just what kind of content are you looking for?! While I can agree that a few of Brawl's challenges are quite mundane (beat boss battles with all characters? Please!), I don't think Rare's games were massive fetch quests. I find DKC 2 to be one of the best platformers I've ever experienced. The gameplay was fun, and the collection was effortless and addicting. Traveling to the lost world with my bonus coins was so freaking cool! And the music, simply mesmerizing. Its right up there with Kirby Superstar and Super Mario World. Even Donkey Kong 64 doesn't deserve 2/3rds of the crap it gets.
  4. MK Wii got a 9/10 from Nintendo Power! They praise all new features, modes, and multiplayer options then there have ever been before. They don't like how it isn't as revolutionary to its respective series like Mario Galaxy was for the Mario series. They also don't like how it doesn't pack in as much sheer content as Brawl did.
  5. Speaking of Sakurai not wanting Brawl to be competitive, this was in the latest Nintendo Power. I am not sure if this is old or not, but I have not seen it brought up... Nintendo Power: This is one that a lot of the hardcore Smash Bros. fans have long wondered about. Was the ability to "Wavedash" in Melee intentional or a glitch? Sakurai: Of course, we noticed that you could do that during the development period. With Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it wasn't a matter of, "OK, do we leave it in or do we take it out?" We really just wanted this game, again, to appeal to and be played by gamers of all different levels. We felt that there was a growing gap between beginners and advanced players, and taking that out helps to level the playing field. It wasn't a real big priority or anything, but when we were building the game around the idea of making it fair for everybody, it just made sense to take it out. And it also goes back to wanting to make something different from Melee and giving players the opportunity to find new things to enjoy. And here is proof that Sakurai and his team suffered from a case of apathy, and that apathy cost Metroid fans big time: Nintendo Power: There was a rumor at one point about Ridley being playable. Was that ever a consideration? Sakurai I think that would probably be pretty impossible. [Laughs] If we had put or best efforts into it, we might have been able to do it. But he might have been a little slow. Would that be all right [Laughs] Oh gee, thanks Sakurai...>_>
  6. You want to talk about good DK's? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBKV6B7Cmlc I'm declaring this right now: Donkey Kong has upset the balance of the universe by pwning Falcon's mighty technique, the Falcon Punch! Go to 4:45. Capt. Falcon isn't as manly as the burly Donkey Kong! All around fantastic use of DK right here!
  7. Alright, spill it. Which book did you steal this from? (Lol, I kid, I kid.) (Unless, you really did quote from a book, which I'm not assuming you did...) But yeah, this kid's a hero. I don't know if I could have done the same thing...Even though my mom is the closest friend I have in the entire world.
  8. What...the...heck...? I'm amazed at this person's skill, and lack of attention span. How hyper does a guy have to be to play 2 games at once just to stay entertained?! (Lol, I'm just joking, sort of.)
  9. You mean I get to update this thread with the latest video first? As a great futuristic lobster once said (I mean, will say), "What an honah!" Here's Army of Two, as experienced by Yahtzee!: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/3083-Zero-Punctuation-Army-of-Two
  10. I second F-Zero for Wii. I would snap up a worth sequel to GX in an instant!
  11. Urge to make a PMS joke...rising...Curse you my sophomoric sense of humor!!!
  12. No, you still get to keep playing once your balloons are popped. The battle is now points-based, I believe. So you won't stop scoring once all your balloons are gone. Which leads back to my initial question...
  13. I don't understand the graphics complaints. Looks to be about as good looking as Mario Galaxy. What more can we expect? This was such an awesome feature. This sweet, sweet game of revenge made it acceptable to die! That's what I'm wondering. What's the point of protecting your balloons if you can still keep playing?
  14. His final rant in every review nearly always has me rofling! Sand paper condom...XD
  15. After looking at Gametrailer's preview, It looks like Balloon Battle's been simplified to stupid levels. You can still play after 3 hits! There's no reason to conserve your balloons!
  16. Once again, the Wii gets screwed. Why am I not surprised? You see? This is why Xbox Wii60 is the best package. If you can afford it, there shouldn't be anything keeping you from owning both consoles.
  17. Okay. That DOES make sense. I agree with you on that. You're right, there is a specific difference. I guess we should be hoping for the former kind of branching paths and secret routes featured in S3&K. BTW, I'm playing thru Sonic 360 at the moment, and I'm completely lost in mediocre-land...Help!
  18. [spoilers]Fight as Donkey Kong 20 times.[endspoilers]
  19. If I understand you correctly, you're saying that both replay value and specific character pathways are a bad thing in Sonic games. Could you please clarify? I find it hard to believe you would find those game traits negative. I mean, Sonic 3 and Knuckles did all that way back in the genesis days, and it did okay for a Sonic game, am I right?
  20. Dude, it looks like you played too much of Sonic Advance 2. I don't know if you even touched 1 and 3, but neither let you just push right for very long. It was suicide to do that (especially in SA3's case)! I don't understand the general bashing of the Advance games. They're better than the Rush games, IMO. I say that because of physics. The Advance games got it right by the time the 3rd one came along. When Rush was released, and was praised for its tension gage and stuff, I was psyched for it. But they got it wrong. Using the boost didn't actually make you go faster than normal peak speed. What's the point of boost if you can't actually go physically faster? Sure, it gave near-instant acceleration. But isn't that what the included spin dash is for? Sure, it can protect you from oncoming enemies. But isn't that what turning into a ball is for? Don't replace something that doesn't need replacing. Another strike against the Rush games was the way they did handle ball form. Its supposed to be faster using it downhill right? Its supposed to make you faster than peak running speed, if your on a downhill incline. Then why the heck didn't it do that!? The Advance games had all these physics down pat. They made the characters an utter joy to control! Regardless of the portable wonders, no game has gotten Sonic more right than Sonic 3 and Knuckles, IMO. I still have yet to 100% completely rekindle my indescribable joy I experienced in that game.
  21. Doesn't it seem like there's going to be a crapload of boosting opportunities? Between simpler power-slide boosts, trick boosting, and wheeling boosting from bikes, its gonna be zoom, zoom zoom! I can't decide if that's a good thing or bad thing. It could decrease the importance of good items vs. learning how to boost at every given opportunity. I'm not sure I like that... I really can't stand Nintendo's (semi-nonexistant) online philosophy. Its far too frustrating for the consumer.
  22. Online lag is incredibly frustrating. Either I'm getting disconnected or playing with a 3-second delay on all my controls. I've seen guides detailing DMZ connections and port-forwarding, and I nearly crapped my pants. That's waaaay to complicated for my simple brain. I want to pay someone to do it for me...Anyone know of any computer whiz for hire in the upper Iowa area?
  23. Sonic's up B + up air = fun and deadly. I don't know why I had such an itch to play as him, but I must have done 10 different 7-minute matches with him in a row. He doesn't need the power of the Chaos Emeralds to rule the battlefield, but it helps. Makai, your grumblings about Link are spot on. They ruined every single one of his best moves, and buffed up his useless moves to a slightly-less-than-useless state. Seriously, his up-b (chargeability be danged), side b, dair, smash a (even with the hidden second strike), and fair are almost garbage now. <sarcasm> But his arrows and bombs are stronger!!!</sarcasm> Sheesh, what a waste. His up-b nerf makes me the most upset. In Melee, if you hit the opponent a moment after you activated the move, they'd be sent far and low, getting plenty of KOs. Now? Nothing. Thank goodness we have Toon Link.
  24. Online is doomed, if past games are any indication. I've seen legions of complaints against Brawl's lag, and have had the unfortunate experience of nearly unplayable Mario Strikers Charged matches. What made MSC even worse tho, was how I couldn't even get matched up against someone in the first place. I might try for a half-hour straight to connect with someone, only to be met with the same infuriating error message time and time again. I want to believe that MKW will have a smooth wi-fi framework, but I'm realistically skeptical at this point.
