Exactly how I felt. Shoot, dodge, shoot, dodge, repeat ad nauseum. I'd personally find a speed run more entertaining.

Well, somebody has all their loose ends tied up! I tip my hat to you, sir!
-
Haha, score one more point for Nintendo! They're gonna reach the Casual Gamer Hi-score in no time!
-
As well you should have trouble! Its natural to like a game the way it was naturally meant to be. Not chopped in half... Will S3&K ever come on VC? Is there even a slight hope? If not, I'm just gonna cave and go buy another Mega Collection.

Wait, you expect to play Brawl online? Haha, that's a laugh. Actually, you'll probably be good to go if you only do "With Friends". Heh, the road to Brawl took 2 valuable friends down. RE4 and Super Paper Mario? I hope you at least got to play both thoroughly before you traded 'em!

I'll confirm that for you. I raced Mushroom, Shell, Flower and Banana Cup with the Wii Wheel. I raced Star Cup with the Wiimote + Nunchuck. Finally, I raced Leaf Cup with the gamecube controller. My detailed feelings: Wii Wheel: Most fun, but not accurate enough when it counts! Performing tricks can be tiresome, and I couldn't manage to pull off a good wheelie. Also, the controller began to hurt my right hand. Gamecube: The second best choice. Tricks are made more difficult (and painful) with the puny d-pad. But, this is the best controller to use if you like to look behind you and shoot items at the same time. I found myself really wishing items were used with the Y button instead of L. Wiimote + Nunchuck: The best, most accurate and comfortable choice. After I switched over to this from the Wii Wheel, my hand felt strangely relieved. Tricks are easy to do. Wheelies are simple to pull off, and you can cruise thru the game's menus with the pointer!

TC deserves a pat on the back for his skills, but a slap on the wrist for posting something the average user won't find entertaining.

Nintendo's new philosophy of favoring casual/noob gamers in general is rather troubling for me. Hopefully they'll snap out of it by Wii 2.
-
So, who else picked this game up today? I'm liking it so far. It kind of feels like the same thing though. Not too different from Double Dash or 64.

Of all the games to convince you to get a wii, you're picking Boom Blocks? How could you ignore Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Twilight Princess, and so many others? Boom Blocks looks like an adventure into mediocre land...

Nintendo: OldSchool Revolution. Avenge Mario!
JCvgluvr replied to PhiJayy's topic in General Discussion
I'd rank my favorite SMBZ episodes like this: 1) Episode 6 2) Episode 3 3) Episode 5 4) Episode 4 5) Episode 2 6) Episode 1 But they all rock. Hard. -
Well, lets look at history. When Yuji Naka left Sega (or was it Sonic Team, I can't remember), the Sonic series still maintained its quality in its titles, right? Or when Sakurai left Hal Laboratories, Kirby games still had that ageless charm, didn't they? *Note the inaudible, troubled hint of sarcasm in my voice* Here's hoping Retro Studios never touches another Metroid again. We need a new 2-D one, anyways.

Yes. We can only hope that Alvin Earthworm can hold up long enough to bless us with episode 7. Well, he says he will, anyway. I certainly hope so. -
Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews

Vivi, perhaps this can clear up what I was trying to say: I'm quite relieved to see that one poster (friendlyHunter) understands where I'm coming from. -
Nintendo: OldSchool Revolution. Avenge Mario!
JCvgluvr replied to PhiJayy's topic in General Discussion
There needs to be more discussion of Super Mario Bros. Z in here. It is hands down, the most amazing Mario (and Sonic) flash series ever created. If you haven't seen it, and have even the slightest amount of love for Mario, Sonic, or Dragon Ball Z, you HAVE to watch episodes 1 thru 6. Episode 1: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/308690 Episode 6 (The latest and greatest one so far): http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/380713 -
Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews
JCvgluvr replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
Eh, this isn't up to his usual quality of reviews. Humorwise, it was "eh". No clever quips, and one semi-funny running gag with Gametraders Robina. Serious criticism-wise, he didn't really have many validated points with which to unload his hatred against. Was he serious when he groaned about hidden characters in the roster? Replay value is a central mechanic to any game, and there's nothing more enticing than hidden characters. Furthermore, he played it with the completely wrong crowd. They all had never played a Smash game before? How could they properly appreciate the game, when they had no nostalgia nor past love for the characters and settings? That's SSB's prime point of interest! That's like me going to the Superbowl, and I've never played a game of football in my life! What good is that? He just created a pit of negativity between him and the other guys at Guy's house. It probably went something like this between the four of them. "Oh bloody hell, look at all the kiddy s**t in this game. Where's that blue wanker, Sonic! I want to beat his speedy arse with that whimsical plumber! Wait, why the f*** am I flying away?! This game is bollucks!" With no proper way to enjoy the characters, stages, or fighting mechanics, none of them had fun, so none of them could honestly recommend the game. Games like these depend of the fun they let you and your friends have together. The memories you create between the 2, 3, 4, or more of you. Yatzee's particular environment didn't promote any of this. Its a major flaw. I'm not saying its his fault, or that he should have found a Nintendo fanboy's house and played it there. I'm just saying I can understand where he's getting all the petty negativity. On the other hand, his annoyance with the Subspace Emissary is more spot on. Still, I think its far more enjoyable then he gives it credit for. This was probably the only review he did that left me unsatisfied, and even a little angry. Maybe I'm one of those fanboys who he referred to? *Pushes up glasses from the tip of his nose* -
Okay, fine, my mom used to play Sonic Spinball, so that has a special place in my heart as well. Otherwise, no, I don't care for anything else on that list. FYI, I've had both mega collections in recent years, but I've either sold them on accident or lost them. I know what's on them, but only Sonic 2 and 3&K kept my interest for long, as they're some of my all time favorite games. I'm worried that Nintendo won't ever release S3&K on VC. If the worse happens, they'll just release S&K, and not put up the proper version we all know and love.
-
But I'm only interested in S3&K. I've already got Sonic 2 on VC, I don't really care for Sonic 1 enough to play it again, and Sonic 3-D + Ristar + Fliky don't appeal to me at all. Would you still say its a better value in my case?
-
Heh, so I just replayed Sonic 2 on my Virtual Console. Good times...I hope that Sonic Unleashed can continue to remind me how much fun 2-D Sonic gameplay is. Unleashed should also have special stages for the Chaos Emeralds. Those are great. Just as long as their easier than Sonic 2's...I can't get past the 5th stage, dang it! BTW, does anyone think Sonic 3 and Knuckles will ever come on VC? Or am I better off picking up Sonic Mega Collection?

The Most Annoying Song Ever (Scientifically)
JCvgluvr replied to chumble spuzz's topic in General Discussion
The annoying song is doing exactly what it should: annoying me. I can't stand the opera with organ screeching behind it...yech! I'm closing it now. The wanted song isn't any better, and the "love" song is meh. I'm tired, and need to go to bed. -
There was, if I'm not mistaken, such a game on the playstation. I don't know how it played though...
-
Mugen users do create their own characters. I collected my own MUGEN roster a year ago. It was so friggen' epic. Then it killed my lappy! I would seriously pay someone 50 bucks to regather all of my characters, stages, music, and themes for me...I'd do it, but I don't wish to spend dozens of more hours treading potentially viral ground like before... On topic: This looks like Marvel Nemisis all over again...meh.
-
Secret Rings was the most critically acclaimed 3-D Sonic game since SA2B. Is that saying much? That's up to you.
-
OH NO! What a sad end to such a good run! That was near perfection! I can't believe that you were so lucky to dodge all of Bowser's hammers, only to get touched by Bowser and die just a smidge away from the axe...How disappointing. But suicide is funny!
