  1. Touche, Callas. Touche.
  2. Well, you put it in mod review, so that implies that you want to sub it, bro. You will need to take the 20 seconds of silence off the end when you submit the track, though. The site hosts stand alone tracks, so mixing in tracks designed for DJs to mix into other songs creates a separation in the site. Just make the DJ version available elsewhere, or even request that a link to a site where you host the DJ version is put in the track description, if it's important to you. Like I said before, though, if you clean up the sonic clutter in the high ranges of the track (and remove the 20s of silence) I think this would have a very good chance at being posted.
  3. I sent a message to Prophet about the source this week. I'd be fine if either of us took the source.

  4. Actually, I think in PRC you vote for three mixes, not one, (scaled by 1st - 3 points, 2nd - 2 points, 3rd - 1 point). This helps diversify what tracks get the spotlight and prevents a situation where one track gets all the votes while other good tracks go into obscurity. And yeah, no voting for yourself, but you get a 1st place vote if you do vote. That system would work great, in this compo.
  5. Loving it. I think there's a little clutter in the upper range of the soundscape, though - too many instruments that have that high range in it. Doing a high pass on a few of the instruments might help clean that up a little bit. The reverb, while appropriate, might also be creating some of the clutter that I'm hearing. If passing the instruments doesn't work well, cutting down on some of the reverb or high passing the reverb might just do the trick. Personally I find the silence to be very fitting to the style. Just putting that out there. I think this is great, though. Very fun stuff that I believe can pass, given that you fix the soundscape clutter a little bit.
  6. So, it's the Wily MM2 theme this week. Do you want to cover it, or do you want to hold out until next week for another track? I'm personally kind of 'meh' on this track myself, but I'll do it if you don't want it.

  7. Those are some incredibly sexy chiptune leads, bro. I really liked the variations on the them you had going, and the inclusion of the short arching arpeggio as a primary thematic element was a stroke of genius. One small complaint that I have is that the bass is hard to hear (not the drum, the bass ). If that causes clipping of any sort don't be afraid to knock the punch of the bass drum a pinch for the sake of production - from the psytrance tracks that I've heard (which isn't that much - just a search on Youtube as a result of listening to your track and trying to get a little familiar with the genre ) the bass drum generally wasn't as strong as yours, so I think you could afford losing a little for the sake of bringing the bass out, if need be. Yeah, that's about it, from me. Mix the bass better and I could see this being postable material, actually. Very nice work.
  8. I would be very unhappy if you didn't submit this to OLR.
  9. ... dayum, there are 12 teams participating in this? I forgot how massive the response was.
  10. Just play the FF victory theme in the background and it all works perfectly. In fact, that should just be scripted onto the front page.
  11. I've never touched a GTA game in my life, but I thought I'd pop in and say they seemed to nail the Los Angeles look quite spectacularly, there. When I say the I-5 sign on the highway it brought me back... to yesterday when I was on that damn interstate for three hours. It gets a thumbs up from me, for pure aesthetics at least.
  12. I really like the sharp production values you have on this one, and the style sounds like it could be really cool. However, when it comes to the source usage, it's close to non-existent for a good chunk of the track (the texture used doesn't sound like the source). When a melody does come out of it (at 1:17), it's off key. The notes should be 5-1-2-3--5-1-2-3--212--7-4... etc., but what you have right now is 7-3-4-5--7-3-4-5--5-3-4--2-7... etc. (That covers 1:17-1:27). Hopefully that's pretty clear. I hear good things that can come from this, but right now the theme clashes terribly with the texture and bass. All it takes to fix this is to move the melody line down a few steps, though, so I hope to hear it fixed for the next update. As for any other suggestions, I personally would like to hear a little more connection to the source. The source signature texture was awesome, and while I can see you're giving everyone a glimpse of it in what you have I would like to hear more of it. I hope that helps a little bit. Good luck with this - it's a favorite tune of mine, so I feel there can't be enough good remixes of it around.
  13. Ah, it's your birthday. Don't let your old age stop you from making sweet musics. Have a good one, man.
  14. Due to my absolute love of this game and music, I would give my talent to you... but I'm not a rockin' guitarist. With Sixto, Mutherpluckin' B Luke and the gang down there, though, I feel that this will make me a very happy Turtles fan regardless. Good luck with this, man. Oh yeah, and don't forget that all of the music for this game is either subtly or not so subtly related to the old TV show (I talked about it in this old thing, post 40), so I expect to hear some homage to the show in this. Don't let me down, folks!
  15. I like Del Taco.
  16. Isn't the McRib something that's regional? As in, it might be available in some places and not available at others? So if it's not around your town, Brandon, then you just need to fly out to LA and buy one here, since it's available here.
  17. Sir_NutS has agreed to take this first round by storm. Take em' down, bro.
  18. Dat bass. I love it. Alright, the production values are pretty sweet, and the instruments are neat (especially with the effects you use). To be honest, my only complain is that the arrangement doesn't really go anywhere. I know firsthand that this source doesn't lend itself to really moving much, but you can still figure out ways to give the remix some more direction, if you put your mind to it (listen to what some people did with it in this compo, for example). It may only be a single complaint that I have, but it's a pretty significant one. Again, though, I understand that the source is tricky to work with, in that regard. Maybe just working with a different source altogether might be a good idea, here. Still, nice work overall.
  19. ... sounds like a kickass secret final boss group at the end of the competition, to me.
  20. That episode was fun - loved the costume, Daniel... just be sure to wear it IRL. Great song at the end, too BGC, I think the front page is in need of some hardcore updating, here. All the links are dead due to the legal issues with The Escapist.
  21. Rozo, you are the man. Your album will be awesome, you contribute a whole lot to the WIP boards and you're just cool in general. Wait, it's you're birthday? I thought people were just making a 'Rozo is Awesome' thread. Alright then, happy birthday, as well.
  22. Sigs are awesome, much thanks goes to Rexy (especially for showing me the difference between Cyan and Blue ).
  23. Oh alright, if the thirds were intentional then we're all good. They don't sound bad, they were just off source and I didn't know if you were aware or not. Alright, proceed as planned, then. I will wait
  24. Huh. I'm actually used to an arrangement that, while incomplete, is generally 'finished' up to the point that it's been done to. Not to say anything against your methods of writing, but it caught me off guard. I'm assuming the other parts are coming soon. From what is here, though, I can tell this will be a fairly conservative mix that doesn't stray from the source too much. The ostinato might have a note or two that are not like the source, but I honestly can't tell because the delay drowns the notes out. You might want to lower the wetness or volume of the delay a touch, not so much as to lose the effect but just enough so the base instrument can be heard clearly. There are a couple of spots in the other instruments where the delay bleeds unintentionally into different sections - minor, sure, but it's best to catch these things early rather than leave them for later. The theme at 0:53 is a third below the source. Whether that was intentional or not, I can't say, but if you were trying to sound like the source then raise the notes up by a third. Compare your track to the source and try to match it. Otherwise, I can't say much - this is in a state where I can't really provide too much useful feedback. Good luck with it - Laguna always had awesome battle music, so it's nice to hear people remix it.
