  1. Hmm... I don't think you should post that here - on projects, it's best not to release your music to the public before the project goes live. You could give it to the people in the KNGI WIP forum, though, since that's project member access only (not to mention it'd make us all feel special there ). Post it there and I'll give you my feedback and stuff.
  2. Topman rocks. Just thought you'd like to know .
  3. I don't think people (well, Arek, anyway) have simply said 'tHis suxxors!1', rather than give a list of reasons why they do/don't like the game, be it changes from the original, functionality or whatever. I'm still debating whether to get it or not, so the thread's pretty helpful, for me. If you don't like the thread, don't post in it, eh?
  4. You mean this CANABALT? That's a good game, for sure. Then again, good ol' Meat boy was pretty sweet, too. I won't have time for remixing any of this, though, so good luck to anyone participating .
  5. Surprised this one hasn't been mentioned yet. Danced to this one in front of my TV for hours. Seriously. No surprise that I've made more than one arrangement of it, on my own time.
  6. Only if you compete with me, yes. Think about what I have to do, though - possibly translate EVERY possible candidate I get to 13/16 (or vice versa... but what's the fun of that?). So yeah... Stop whining . I had to pick it 'cause it's awesome, though - it has little to do with the meters.
  7. Alright then, we'll do a common document file of it, then, and have a thread for those that want to contribute? As long as there are common rules for contribution (common format, common language, etc.) I'm sure people on the site could be quite helpful, overall (giving the meters of tracks and even entire soundtracks, if they're up to it, and pointing out possible errors in the tracks). When I say 'common language', I mean use some sort of standard when listing time signatures. No 'Common Time' or 'Cut Time' for example - these can easily be replaced with '4/4' and '2/4', respectively, without losing too much meaning. If the numerator is higher than '5', then the denominator will be '8' (There shouldn't be a '5/8' or '7/4' - they'd be '5/4' and '7/8', so it'd be easier to compile into the tagging system). That Marx song would be considered a general 'Mixed Meter' - there's just no practical way to approach a song with that many changes otherwise. There's a bit more to it than that, but that's a start to a system to work with. Level 99 already presented a standard format to present the tunage in the thread, so we could stick to that, for the most part (although finding the source shouldn't be mandatory, and the handling of multiple meters would be nicer if simplified, like I suggested above). I could do the Megaman soundtrack + FF series soundtrack real quick, if you want a place to start your doc, Level 99. And yes, that Marx track is really insane.
  8. Fair enough - I'm guessing they don't want the players to access the high-end equipment that early in the game. As long as they got it, I'm good . Can't wait to kill the Juggernaut Blob again.
  9. I really want to get this, but alas I'm short a DS to play it on, right now. When I get a DS I'll get this game, for sure. I agree that if they decide to make Arek some super god boss or some shit I'd be pretty upset . Quick question, though - Is the Ancient Cave in it? That was pretty amazing in the original, and while it wouldn't be a deal breaker I'd still be disappointed if it weren't there.
  10. Hi. Welcome to OCR. Always a pleasure seeing VG composers recognizing what people do around here - I hope you enjoy the stuff and possibly contribute some good ol' remixes here.
  11. Aww, it's almost over Ah well, you can send the Happy birthday from me to him, Mono . Happy birthday, Prot.
  12. No thread for you, but you get a 'Happy Birthday' from me. Good job at finally reaching a legal age to drink and gamble :)

  13. It's an interesting topic you're tackling, and one that'll take a lot of endurance to pursue, for sure. There will be no way for you to come up with an answer that everyone will be happy with simply because these issues are not only issues in games. They're not even issues with the media. They touch on issues that people are dealing with in real life. Sexism is still prevalent in life, as is the lack of ethnic variety and realistic representation of homosexuality, here. It's even more difficult because many people are not comfortable with the subjects at hand, either (Christianity and their views on homosexuality, for example, or WASPs and ethnic diversity), so even when games start to implement these things it WILL hurt the business, in the short run. People will avoid games that implement these things, at first. Don't be discouraged at the negative responses - you're touching an incredibly difficult subject, here, and I think you know it. I personally can't wait to see what you have to say on it (I've seen a hint of it on your sexuality video on Youtube, so I know it'll be good). It's something that needs to be addressed in life, and if it takes video games to make the first step towards a more tolerant future then so be it - get the business rolling in the right direction with your vids. Good luck, bro.
  14. Math and music are very interrelated subjects, so you might be more musical than you think . Coming from a math geek/music nerd, myself.
  15. Nom nom, tasty cake. Happy birthday, Frenchy.
  16. Odd choice for the first songs, there - they're certainly not the most popular choices among them (Hardman?). Personally, I think that's awesome that you're focusing on the less popular songs first . I don't need to say that this is a medley and therefore will not be accepted on OCR, right? Just getting that out of the way so it doesn't shock you later. Otherwise, it's quite good, bro. The guitar sound is excellent, although the melody is a bit too far from the front in terms of mixing, and it sounds like the highs in the EQ are missing for that instrument. Bring out the melody more & bring up the highs a little. Then you'll be spot on, production wise. Robot master select is great, and Hardman is awesome. Snakeman is a little bit odd, imo. You changed up the harmonies so they end up sounding too static, overall. I'd recommend using more of the original chords, to get rid of the static nature the track currently has. Otherwise, I'm waiting to see this one finished. I will then download it and keep it for my personal library .
  17. Like Chicken Warlord said, this is a pretty big project that you're requesting, here, and I don't think taking potshots at it like we are here is the way to do it. If you're serious about this we'll need to approach this systematically. Making a site project thread is probably the way to go. If you give me the OK I can organize it and get the time-sig machine started. Just understand that it won't be a small endeavor, when it comes to tagging .
  18. I enjoyed SA2B quite a bit. I didn't like the Chao's Garden stufff, though - it was just too maintenance oriented. I can't say I enjoyed the others (I played Secret Rings, and... it sucked pretty hard).
  19. Actually, I'd say the whole 'Turn-based' thing is one of the weak points in the original two games, myself. Not everyone thinks that changing that mechanic was a bad thing, at all. When I play this one, I suspect I'll need to play it without constantly comparing it to the original one and see how it stands on it's own merit. If all people are going to do is point out how the remake is different and get upset about it then yeah, the game will inevitably suck (since really, you should go out and play the old game if you wanted to play the old game ). Since Arek is the one who's actually played it, I'm curious what he has to say, myself.
  20. Woot, have a good one, bro! Also, I agree that you haven't been here much recently - come back to us and make some more badass-ery. We all appreciate it greatly.
  21. Prophet has a point - why not just get a new one? Is is a hardware issue with your comp that's taking you out of the running?
  22. There should really be a sticky on this, or people should search OCR, since I've seen this question asked multiple times before. The short answer is: No, there isn't. The long answer is: No, because you are requesting a computer to translate a compound sound wave into a recognizable program called 'Midi', in which the computer is programed to output sounds based on simple 128 bit info. Waveforms are incredibly complex, so much so that in many cases when multiple things are playing it is simply not possible to read what notes are playing, because the combinations of waves create patterns that look similar whether it's an A5, F#3, etc., due to timbre variance. The variables that influence the waves can make two different pitches look like similar waves, so a computer will never be able to disambiguate such waveforms. It hasn't happened, and I suspect that unless we can devise another way for computers to read uncompressed (or compressed) files that program will never exist. So you'll need to do what everyone else does and dictate the music; that is, listen to it on your own and write it down based on what you hear. Give it a little practice and you'll get the hang of it just fine.
