Woa hey, when did Crystal Snail open up? If no one claims it before the end of this month I'll almost certainly take it up - wanted to do it before it was claimed earlier! Can't promise anything, though - too many damn project songs, as it is . Wait and see, I guess.

Happy Birthday Garian! We Miss You A Great Big Huggy Bunch!!
Gario replied to Brushfire's topic in General Discussion
One of the most confusing names on all of OCR - I think every time I talk to anyone they call me Garian, at least once. Happy birthday, and thanks for making my life that much more difficult . -
HEY! I remember this - still listen to it from time to time on my comp . Interesting what happened with this mix - whereas the older non-vocal mix was excellent, production-wise, the vocal track has introduced some clipping so you'll need to remaster the track. On top of that, the vocal track is incredibly difficult to hear, as it stands. It'll need to come more into the front, which'll be tricky since you also need to mix other things down to help with the production problems I mentioned above. Otherwise, the voice could work nicely - it just needs to be mixed in there better. Always liked this track - shame it didn't make it on OCR, before.

lol, this is definitely an interesting track. Certainly not bad, for a first post . I don't mind the synth as much, but it would probably be better to use a synth that isn't as dirty there (and bring it in at 0:55, for the shock value). The production could use less compression, since a lot of sound is getting lost in the mix, there. Otherwise, nice catchy track. Can't complain about it, much - nice work.

Hey, I was wondering what project the Saga Frontier song was from on the 'To Be Posted' list. Now I know. Can't wait - you got some good tracks going on there!

Looking for MIDI Accompaniment Artist/Orchestrator
Gario replied to James_The_Composer's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
JAMES THE COMPOSER! Hey, I might help you out, time permitting. Are you asking for an orchestration or arrangement? I can do both, but I'd like to know what I'm doing before I get started. For your sheet music, be careful - people HATE reading flats/sharps together like that. Oh, and naming chords like that actually don't have any real meaning... it looks more like a passing motion with a Neapolitan chord above it (probably sounds fine, though). Computer programs have a nasty habit of putting together things that have no practical purpose. Coming from a Contrapuntalist, anyway. Otherwise, feel free to PM me something - although I can't guarantee anything, I might be able to whip something up for you (been a while since I wrote a harmony to a melody, so perhaps it'll be fun ). I prefer both the MIDI and the score, if you can give them to me. I have Sibelius, for the tags, but I prefer not working with tags so I'll most likely use Reason, which doesn't read midis very well. Why did you post your qualifications, anyhow? Don't need them to post those to say you need some help... -
Ahaha! I started on a tutorial for OCR last year for this - I think I'll get it finished up for y'all (it's huge, even as it is right now at 60% completion). And I might throw in a little money, 'cause I know you guys need it .

I think the last offender to merit the Gay OCRAPS retaliation was 14. Hey DS, is it fair game if the offender is over 18, like Meteo said? Nah, it just sounded gay. It fits with the theme of the punishment, I say.

Happy Birthday Audio Fidelity! (& Happy Easter!)
Gario replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
Hey, happy birthday! Do I get brownie points for not mentioning Eas... ... damn. -
I sent a PM explaining how everything was stolen to Wade (that's what Newgrounds directed me to do, in the case of stolen music). If that doesn't work, I don't know if there's much more that can be done. Oh, and I loved Rama's comment on the Kirby track that was on there . I really don't know how this guy's survived as long as he has...
-
I'm working on my track, as we speak. Pretty sure I'll have something decent before the deadline. Meh, you'll hear from me in a couple days, anyhow .
-
Beautiful work there, Arek. Can't wait for the soundtrack to be finished with all the artwork. Oh yeah, and happy birthday, you slacker .
-
You say 11/8, I say 11/16 - you say tomAto, I say tomOto... Yup, that's what it is. If the midi is giving you problems, here's a link to an Mp3 with proper sound - some computers tend to hold the midi reverb indefinitely, sadly. When I wrote it that didn't happen, I swear. Alright, good luck with it

Diablo 2 Action Tonight (March 23rd)! Join us (once again)!
Gario replied to Gario's topic in General Discussion
Sorry I wasn't there - had other things I needed to do. HOWEVER, I'm going to try to work a guy up to/past NiAct1, so hopefully I'll be able to join you guys, soon enough. -
[April fools!] OverClocked ReMixanator Release!
Gario replied to Kenogu Labz's topic in General Discussion
People, there's way too many sources on there - that'll only serve to confuse all the noobs that can't get by that uber-high bar that OCR forced on us (e.g. the target audience). We all know Schala should be enough. Obviously. No, really, go into the code right now and erase the other two sources right now. -
wip Total Annihilation: Kingdoms - Lokkenelektronika
Gario replied to SoulinEther's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Alrighty, not familiar with the source/game, but you posted it so all is well. Let's see what you got, shall we? I like the idea... I don't think I'd ever imagine writing an electronic/dance version of this song. The source is strong in your track (perhaps a touch too much so, for OCR), so while it loses it's tribal feel it still sounds like the source. It's just a bit more... upbeat. Hmm... that beginning wasn't grabbing my attention. 'Tis a shame, since the sidechaining part had some nice bite to it. I suggest starting with the sidechaining and bring out the theme so it isn't drown as much. That'll get our attention better This is pretty sparse. I notice a lot happening, but none of it fills the space. Use some texture in there that'll fill the soundscape better (pads, short electronic textures, whatever works). There's a note that doesn't ring right with me at 0:46... I think it's the melody note, but I'm not sure. Fix em'. Drums... well, you really could use a snare . Hats would also help. Just because it's four on the floor doesn't mean that you need a boring drum - spice it up with some little tasty hat work, and finish it up with some snare SPICE!! Yeah, it really needs something... more, in there. I'd love to dance to this, but there isn't enough sound to really get me going, here (I'm picky, like that). Ah well, keep it up, right? -

wip My Originals: Looking for Critique
Gario replied to TheLastSevenSeconds's topic in Post Your Original Music!
Sorry that I can't comment on the whole song - my internet is crapping out, right now, so I only have the first minute. I like the choir sound in the beginning - it seems to be preparing me for something. What, I don't know, but something. Unfortunately, it never gets there because my internet craps out... not your fault. Alright, when those guitars come in, they're quite piercing, and they cause the sound to clip. You've gotta work on the volumes, there, to balance it out. Fortunately, these two problems can be fixed at the same time by lowing the volumes of the guitars. Do that. The drums sound weak. In fact, they really don't need to be there, for an ambient piece like this one. I'd get rid of 'em... Remember, can't hear more than a minute, so take this with a grain of salt. I like that shimmering sound you throw in there periodically (like at 0:28)... it sounds strangely fitting. Sorry I can't get into too much detail with this one, but it doesn't sound bad, at all. I like the atmosphere you created with it. You've got some work ahead of you, production-wise, but it's not bad for a start. Good luck. -
OCRA-0017 - Donkey Kong Country 2: Serious Monkey Business
Gario replied to Bahamut's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
Just coming in here again to say that I can't... stop... listening... to... this... Definitely my favorite album on OCR, so far. Shame Roller Disco got pushed to 'Resub' on OCR, but that's their call to make - personally, it's one of my favorite songs on there . Next to Dance of the Zinger. Yeah, still completely stoked about it. I honestly can't say anything bad about it... generally there's at least one or two tracks that are ho-hum, but I actually thoroughly enjoyed every track on here. Congratulations again, everyone! -

Gario replied to Gario's topic in General Discussion
Well, I hope the issues's been fixed. That slowed me down a little, though, so I'll see what I can do (probably not much, atm - got other things to do, sadly). -
Ah, so you don't need anyone? Sad, I was looking forward to scoring your music, DS... Ah well, I'm sure Abadoss has it under control.

Alright, Friday sounds good, but I won't be able to get on there for longer than two hours (and that's if we start at 5pm Pacific), since I share internet with people that need it that night... Alas, a little time is better than no time, right?
