  1. You can try to contact the obvious choices, although I'm not sure how well that'll turn out (Neko is away in the military, atm; Sixto has more project songs than Jesus has followers, and Fishy is heading his own project, atm). Cyril the Wolf, LuketheXjesse and Jabond23 might be willing to give it a shot - you can go send them a PM or something. Worth a shot, at least There are others on here, too, so send out the bottled message that you need some help and someone will likely respond...
  2. I wasn't thinking about you in that conversation. I trust you know what you're doing . Good luck with your next update.
  3. *Summons Rozovian* Not all untrained people produce crap, when adding new parts (or even significantly changing the key or whatnot). Theory isn't actually required for someone to make a good song, or to paraphrase Milton Babbit, "Theory isn't Composition". Meh, I won't worry about the theory, too much - it'd be best to focus on the remix at hand than get into a theory debate (and probably more helpful to Black Panther, anyhow).
  4. Tough theme to take on. Kudos for the effort It's actually not bad at all, though. The bass aggravates me to no end with that portamento. Do it periodically for effect, if you must, but don't do it for every single note change. You flood the listener with the sound enough it won't have an effect anymore. The drums need to be beefed out (namely the bass). They don't stand out, as they are, and in a track like this they should be very prominent. I like the direction you took this - a more ambient effect, yet with some flavor. The late source theme isn't bad at all. However, I would recommend playing with the idea of introducing it earlier at least in pieces, just to prep the listener for it a little better. It might inspire you to take the song in another direction, as well. The guitar sounds... not so good (thin, in particular). I'm sure you know that, though, so do what you gotta do to fix it. Yeah, the key really packs a punch, in this song (I normally don't go into 'key' theory, but it works well, here). Just use your ear and judgment, when it comes to taking it in other directions. You can raise the 2nd if you want some tasty flavor added to the riff... Yeah, good luck with this
  5. Amazing thread. HOWEVER, you guys are missing one of the biggest freeware games out there. UFO2000 It's X-com. It's multiplayer (LAN/internet support). it's fucking X-com. It's legally free. Did I mention it's X-com? It's preferable to get this with the original game & TotD on your computer (since it rips the graphics for them if you have it), but it can run on it's own, as well. No mind control, though. Here's another freeware game that's based off of X-com, and it looks pretty good. I've never been able to play it, since my stupid comp won't take it out of windowed mode and you need fullscreen so you can scroll the maps with the mouse. Meh. UFOAI Enjoy
  6. Mmm... forum flood. I actually tried to listen to Ryu's theme, but that link was broken. For something like this, I agree that posting this as an 'album' would've been the wise choice. Of course, I also understand why you did it the way you did (the rules do say to post one song per thread, in order to prevent possible reviewers from being intimidated to review and such), so yeah... now you know Midi rip, bleh. You already know, so let's move on. The production is a little shallow, while getting muddy at 0:24 & 0:31. The production needs to fill out for the most part (giving the ears something more to grab, overall), and balance out some of the parts when it starts muddying up. Using the sample drum loop over and over again is like . It's not a bad beat, but it just stays the same, all the way through the music. If/when you make your next mix, remember the mix the drums up a bit.Meh, yeah, nothing special. I don't have anything against midi rips, personally, but they'll never be anything spectacular, either. I'll be listening for more remixes from you though. Oh, and double/triple posting is looked down upon, around here. Try responding to everyone in a single post next time Good luck with your music!!
  7. Yeah, it's open. PM Willrock or John with a WIP track and see if they can hook you up.
  8. AMT - *Points get!*
  9. Here's one that I had no clue sounded like something else. I mean, my brother pointed it out and I actually argued about it, saying I didn't rip it off of another game. Silly me. 10 point to whomever guesses what VG track this sounds like .
  10. Yeah, it happens. Don't worry about it - just give Just64helpin some love, this time around
  11. Alas... Here's hoping for a better ORC 131 (when I win ORC 130, of course ). And a nice turnout for Just64helping, too. Nice mix, by the way
  12. Dammit, all the meetups are on the east coast. I thought you were talking about Six flags Cali, which I would've been all over. Shame - have fun, anyway.
  13. If you do that, turn off the sustain that's on two of the channels. Don't want you to be dealing with that for too long
  14. One day left - here's hoping I'm surprised by a flood of remixes . Looking forward to each one proposed . I'm not worried, since most people tend to get their mixes in on the last day. Well, except for JerryTerry.
  15. I saw your titles and figured this was what DJP was doing with you guys. It's great that he did this (and that you agreed to this) - a middle point between WIP feedback and the J's will prove to be useful for everyone here. I'm also glad you emphasized that it's a middle point, so people won't be too disappointed to see a mix rejected when the WIP mods said it was OK. Don't want you guys to get any flak from people when you're doing them a voluntary service. Good luck out on the field of WIP battle.
  16. It's weird to post in a thread where the birthday man isn't posted by you, Coop. It works, though. Happy birthday!
  17. Sounds good. I'll certainly be interested for it then, and I might be posted by then. Ya never know .
  18. I trust you, Pu_Freak... besides, I'm not comparing myself to Sixto. Ever. Yeah, I'll almost certainly work on a track for Crystal Snail, if it doesn't get taken in the next month or so.
  19. If I find my midi writing program, I'll do it for you. If I find my midi writing program. Dammit, it was with me a week ago, and it suddenly disappeared again...
  20. Woa hey, when did Crystal Snail open up? If no one claims it before the end of this month I'll almost certainly take it up - wanted to do it before it was claimed earlier! Can't promise anything, though - too many damn project songs, as it is . Wait and see, I guess.
  21. One of the most confusing names on all of OCR - I think every time I talk to anyone they call me Garian, at least once. Happy birthday, and thanks for making my life that much more difficult .
  22. HEY! I remember this - still listen to it from time to time on my comp . Interesting what happened with this mix - whereas the older non-vocal mix was excellent, production-wise, the vocal track has introduced some clipping so you'll need to remaster the track. On top of that, the vocal track is incredibly difficult to hear, as it stands. It'll need to come more into the front, which'll be tricky since you also need to mix other things down to help with the production problems I mentioned above. Otherwise, the voice could work nicely - it just needs to be mixed in there better. Always liked this track - shame it didn't make it on OCR, before.
  23. lol, this is definitely an interesting track. Certainly not bad, for a first post . I don't mind the synth as much, but it would probably be better to use a synth that isn't as dirty there (and bring it in at 0:55, for the shock value). The production could use less compression, since a lot of sound is getting lost in the mix, there. Otherwise, nice catchy track. Can't complain about it, much - nice work.
  24. Hey, I was wondering what project the Saga Frontier song was from on the 'To Be Posted' list. Now I know. Can't wait - you got some good tracks going on there!
  25. JAMES THE COMPOSER! Hey, I might help you out, time permitting. Are you asking for an orchestration or arrangement? I can do both, but I'd like to know what I'm doing before I get started. For your sheet music, be careful - people HATE reading flats/sharps together like that. Oh, and naming chords like that actually don't have any real meaning... it looks more like a passing motion with a Neapolitan chord above it (probably sounds fine, though). Computer programs have a nasty habit of putting together things that have no practical purpose. Coming from a Contrapuntalist, anyway. Otherwise, feel free to PM me something - although I can't guarantee anything, I might be able to whip something up for you (been a while since I wrote a harmony to a melody, so perhaps it'll be fun ). I prefer both the MIDI and the score, if you can give them to me. I have Sibelius, for the tags, but I prefer not working with tags so I'll most likely use Reason, which doesn't read midis very well. Why did you post your qualifications, anyhow? Don't need them to post those to say you need some help...
