Hey all, let me start at the beginning. One day in happy land I decided to stop being lazy and fix the intonation on my low E string. I was told to loosen the screw if the fretted notes were too sharp so I did that. Kept doing it and doing it and doing it... intonation's not fixed, but now the screw is jammed diagonally as it came out and I can't get it back in. I decided to loosen the string by a lot to see if I could push down to get the screw straight. Turns out it didn't work, it was really jammed. So I began getting the string back to regular pitch (I loosened it to the point of removal)... and it snapped around the tuner while I was turning the knob before I could reach E. The end coming out of the hole is not matching where the string snapped. The end in question is behind the tuner peg (still wound around, took some effort to get that spiraled string out). My question is, why did this happen? This is a cheap guitar, First Act, but I replaced the strings 4-5 months ago with Super Slinkies from here http://www.ernieball.com/products/category-916-Nickel-Wound#.

Notch can sue for cheating even if he has no proof. It's just like how they're suing for the name scrolls yet have no proof that people are actually going crazy with confusion.

It's the ratio of signal to noise you RETARDED PERSON (yeah I have no clue either)

If I type in "megaman" to search for megaman mixes, I don't get the same results as "mega man". I get nothing. I'm sure you're aware of this, but shouldn't it point to "mega man" anyway, as typing "megaman" and showing no mixes might be misleading to newcomers?

FLStudio on Mac via bootcamp, etc.
Nabeel Ansari replied to The Biznut's topic in Music Composition & Production
Yeah. Ye... no. I've never had to fix anything in my registry. Then again I built my computer so there was no bloatware on there when I installed Windows. I'm not gonna argue Mac vs. PC here, I said what I thought applied most to Biznut's situation. -

I was more asking why he wanted one for running Windows and FL Studio. (also what are you talking about with the registry?) -
I need to do a dubstep mix of this. Like now.

I wouldn't mind buying CCC for PLAY now that I have a better machine that can handle it. My top choices for 3rd party libraries would be Impact Soundworks' entire collection and Cinematic Strings if I were to go with Dannthr's selection. Not sure if you count Abbey Road's drum libraries as third party but I would get those too, and on top of that CCC because neither I nor my processor gives a damn.

Any particular reason you're buying an iMac? You're burning your wallet for about 5% of what could be called a valid reason. Whoever tells you they're more stable doesn't know that my Protools mac set up crashed at least twice at school last year while dragging an audio file. Seriously dude, get a PC. You'll be happy, and so will your wallet. Also, by using Windows, the hardware in the Mac will perform just the same as the hardware in a PC because it's not OSX optimized. (cuz it's WINDOWS) -
The stock libraries are about 1/6th of the stuff you'll find in Komplete 8 Ultimate. Kontakt is like 43GB out of what, 240GB? Komplete 8 Ult. is a bundle of all of their products. Like, ALL OF THEM. They have tons of sample libraries that aren't just Alicia's Keys, West Africa, or Session Strings. Take a look through their catalog some time. I stand by saying it's not fair to compare the stock library of Kontakt to Complete Composer's Collection. That would be a comparison between Kontakt and CCC, not Komplete 8 Ultimate and CCC.

I disagree. If you're talking about the STOCK kontakt library, yes, but the other more specialized sample libraries included are awesome. You never really buy Kontakt for its sound library unless you're someone like me who is upgrading from only soundfonts. It's not fair to say East West has better quality because NI has a lot more libraries with instruments that East West has not even touched. BTW, gratz on your new mini-you, Biznut!

Well if you're talking vs. Composer's Collection, you have to say Ultimate because the prices are more similar (more similarly ridiculously expensive that is). Komplete 8 Ultimate is VERY versatile and has lots of sounds for any styles of music, while Composer's Collection, (with my choice of QLSO, Pianos Gold, Silk, Ra, Gypsy, Choirs Bundle and Storm Drum 2 Bundle, which totals to $860) is incredibly useful for more cinematic and acoustic instrument situations. So it depends on what you're looking to do. I would get Komplete 8 Ultimate because I'm just a sucker for GIGANTIC sound libraries where you can spend hours looking at patches and marvelling at the notion that you just made the best investment ever. It's like when I got Kontakt 4, so I'll have the same feeling. (only tenfold) If I got Komplete to have a very high quality selection of bread and butter stuff, I would purchase Composer's Collection afterwards, because while it is versatile, the Kontakt orchestra section leave a lot to be desired. The VSL orchestral stuff is good for slower passages, but not aggressive pieces. Not that I'm complaining, it's 100x better than the soundfonts I used to use. Not to mention symphonic choirs has a word builder, and silk/gypsy/RA would have tons more than the world section in Kontakt. Storm Drum 2 would also be a huge improvement, since I'm not sure if NI's library offers anything similar to Godzilla Hits. xD The short version? BOTH.

Amp = Mic Port = Dangerous?
Nabeel Ansari replied to MikeViper's topic in Music Composition & Production
I would suggest having the volume at 0 at all times until you're ready to record or hear the input. When you DO decide you want the input, turn it up very slowly until you get the desired volume level, which shouldn't be too loud for your computer to handle. Just don't be dumb. EDIT: and when you're done, crank it back down to 0 to avoid confusion upon adjusting the next time around. -
Looks pretty cool, wish I was old enough to play it.

OCR02277 - Metroid Prime 3 "Lore Hunter"
Nabeel Ansari replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Anyways, love this. The first time you showed it to me (completed), I was instantly surprised when I heard the Metroid Prime 2 cameo. I remember the song from when I was sifting through the Metroid Prime 2 soundtrack in order to cook up a tracklist for my project. I was only looking for tracks that were able to be remixed and it was one of the ones that I wasn't sure if it could be done. You just proved it could, so on the tracklist it goes! I like the latin-style grooves here and while I agree with BS on the sample quality, it's nothing that detracts from the production. The sequencing here is top notch, especially your drums (as always). Love those gated choirs in the background and your use of the clarinet has very strong ties to a lot of your old stuff that I listen to. Great job, glad to see it on the front page after hearing it incomplete (for a couple years now?) -
