  1. Happy Birthday man! :D

  2. Sixto has been a constant force at ocr since I joined, but 2010 has seen a decrease in the amount of mixes that have been posted of sixtos, so its nice to see a posting of his Very very solid work, great pace, great arrangement, and the production is great. Sixto really knows how to maximize his sound, that guitar solo near the end really shines with just the right amount of reverb on it My only two complaints are the synths which while good, don't quite fit with the style. Its hard to get fitting sounds with rock music as far as synths are concerned tho. I also feel that this mix plays it a little safe, its nothing we haven't heard before from sixto, but like I said we haven't heard anything from him in a short while so thats fine by me. I wouldn't mind seeing something different one day tho, just to see what he would do
  3. For Fixes: I'm planning on fixing the production for Flash Bubbles (and a name fix too ) and possibly time stopper. Flash Bubbles I will definitely fix however. Also done a very minor fix for mechanical flair, I'll send that to you with the others.
  4. I wonder how you came to those conclusions, the tracks to me all seem very typical arrangment and style wise for the artists that did them.
  5. Well, this was a short album and imo, probably one of its most accessible factors. You can listen to it in one sitting So... track by track review: The Path to Glory - Theme of Bartz Well things start with a bang. Imo Sixto Sounds is the undisputed king of rock on OC Remix, and this shows why. Playing and production is top notch, and its very enjoyable. To put it simply, this is classic Sixto Sounds. One of my favorite tracks on the album. Edge of Valor - Theme of Knight From rock to orchestral. Very solid stuff from Nutritious, great arrangement, very dynamic and epic. Classical Music isn't something I listen to by choice but this will get a few repeated listens for sure Gentle Fist ~Theme of Monk~ This is a great chillout track, but it does command attention when its playing, so chances are you'll end up listening to it when its on in the background and you are working on something. My only complaint here is that its too long, but thats a small complaint. A great outro. A Healer's Touch ~Theme of White Mage~ Level 99 and Avaris are a fantastic combination for a collab, and this shows with this remix. Level 99 doing acoustic by himself is formidable, but Avaris really brings something a little extra to the fold with his background instrumentation which serves to enhance the soundscape. Another favorite! In the Shadows ~Theme of Thief~ ANOTHER SOUNDSCAPE!!! Pizzicato Strings open this one and are joined by some heavily delayed synth leads. Then the drums come in with AnSo's trademark Bells taking the main melody. Its a pretty engaging listen for sure and the track is kept interesting throughout. I've always found AnSo's sound choices interesting, he has a very unique sound, and this track continues that trend. I'm not sure how much I like this one atm, but each listen I like it more, which gives me the impression its a grower An impressive track, but hey its AnSo, thats to be expected Little Black Book ~Theme of Black Mage~ DarkeSwords second track on the album. This one starts off well with a bass riff played over a pad. Reminds me of Illusion of Gaia music. The soundscape in this one is pretty haunting and dark. Seems to have a playful nature however, its sort of halfway between chillout and hyperactive, thanks to the rapid fire hi-hats. Good stuff from DarkeSword Lore of the Ancients ~Theme of Blue Mage~ GREAT leads in this one. I approve strongly. Very solid stuff from AeroZ, with alot of creative use of the sounds, with some pretty cool syncopated drum sequencing. Arguably my favorite track on the album but time will tell. Vessel of the Void ~Theme of Exdeath~ Well guys what can I say about this one. Its ZIRCON. DnB Drums with heavy metal guitars, orcestral elements, and some crazy leads and a cool solo at the end. Things climax pretty quick which is a trait of zircons - it seems like he enjoys hitting you full force from the start. A powerhouse of a remix. See You Next Time ~WIND~ This is pretty much the perfect outtro for the album. The flute (I'm actually pretty sure its not a flute but I can't remember for the life of me what it is) causes the hairs on the back of my head to straighten, but damn its not long enough. Darkesword, you sir, are a tease and I bet you are laughing at all the people who are left crying for more Conclusion: A great album, some great tracks and some AWESOME ones. Like I said, leaves you wanting more. Congrats on the release and I look forward to the next installment darkesword.
  6. I'd just like to say I approve of this, and if its possible, I'd like to see these of my tracks on the album: Treasure Hunter (Flash Man Vs Ground Man) Mechanical Flair (Flash Man Vs Metal Man) If only one of these is allowed from my own requests for the album, then I pick Treasure Hunter.
  7. haha wow. Any respect you had before this comment has now been flushed down the toilet. Well done.

  10. lol you don't need any refills other than what you get with the program to make good 8-bit sounds, with the possible exception of drums. If you go into the NN19 raw synths folder that has a wealth of awesome 8-bit sounds. also, all the synths in reason (thor, subtractor, malstrom) all have obvious 8-bit potential as they are the sounds that make up more complex ones, just look at pure sine wave, sawtooth, square and triangle waves in the malstrom oscillators, and thor's analog oscillator is basically an 8-bit one. You can tweak the filter and amp envelops of the synths to get the right timbre for the sounds you are looking for as well. Have fun!
  11. Not quoting the whole thing, but replying to the post generally... If i'm allowed to step in here, chiptune music is a style of music which is made using a computer or video game sound chip. The artists at ocr are emulating the sound quality of the samples used in video game music, so I'd call that chiptune music. There are popular artists that are known as chiptune artists as well, such as she. I do sort of see what you are saying, but they also have a very distinctive sound and its associated with the chiptune label for the music now.
  12. Everyones going to compare everyone to MJ, he's one of the musicians thats set the standard for all the music we listen too. The same goes for The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley etc. He's going to be compared with all the most popular musicians of all time and those that are currently headlining all the media and music charts because he's done the same before or after them.
