Fixed that for ya. And it wasn't just the 90s. EVERYONE in this picture (except for tails and shadow) is sportin' that sleazy grin. Shadow probably knows what's in the future for him, though, so I can understand why he doesn't look happy.

I like free stuff. =D. Seriously, though, I'm with edgecrusher on this. Opportunity makes the thief. And I don't think this will change the internet much either. And if the day comes where it does change everything, well, I'll pay my fine with a smile on my face. Or maybe join the "resistance".

I'd like to see pl_badwater in there somewhere too. Big fan 'o badwater. -
I couldn't say for sure, but I'm hoping for b. To wrap your hands around your nemesis' throat in a fighting game, to use intricate *cough* naruto *cough* hand gestures to cast MAGIC SPELLS!? Here's hoping...Powerglove 4 LYFE.

So I've been playing through Chrono Trigger...
DJMetal replied to 1337 1's topic in General Discussion
I'm just the same. I'm actually still playing through it, because the "Golem Twins" boss is physical resistant and I don't use any casters...so I'm having problems =D. But yeah...the occasional load spike doesn't bother me any, and even today, I can see what made this one of THE games. -
Hey hey! I really like some of the tracks on here. After my first listen through, tracks 1 and 8 are my favorites. Nice job! This sounds like way more fun than writing a novel in one month >_>

Seconded. But play'd and survey'd. =D

I pretty much whole-heartedly share AD's feelings here. Sorry dude, but you should know better than to wander into off-topic and post deviantart related poetry. I mean, just read AD's sig. This dude is a killer. A KILLER. Anyways, just to give you my 5-cent critique, the Yin-Yang as a dichotomy of good and evil is a little overdone. And even then, I think it's missing the point a little...Yin and Yang are about balance, not struggle. And I don't mean to knock your creative vibe, but I'd work on your style a little. And I totally didn't know you're DarkeSword's kid brother. Woah. -

Holy crap! SWEET! I wonder if I could get one with Big Bosses' mug starin' at me on it... -
If you'll allow me to complain a little (about silent hill) (again), I was all hopped up for "Homecoming". I was sincerely excited. I ran through, re-beat 3, almost beat "the room" (because for some reason I can NEVER beat that game), and got it the day it came out. The experience was just so lack luster. The games are supposed to be about plot, and I saw the whole thing coming miles away. Yes, I liked how it looked. Yes, I liked how the controls felt. But aside from that, I just couldn't get into it. I dunno. Maybe it's sequel burnout, maybe I'm growing out of my 'scary' games phase...but I just wish they'd leave well enough alone, y'know? But who knows. Maybe I'm just being a snob and need to give "homecoming" another chance. I mean, 4 got similar reviews to "homecoming", and I liked 4 well enough. But I think a part of me is still looking for that great game experience I had with the first Silent Hill, and then again with 2. 3 was a little rehashed and too short for my tastes, but had a lot of cool things going on with it. 4 was just new and some parts scared the living bejesus outta me. But with "homecoming"...nothing like that. It's like when you eat a really good meal. Just when things get going, you look up and your plate is empty. To me, 5 felt like I was trying to eat the plate just for some residual taste of the really good food. Anyways, that's my bit.

A few of my friends have speculated on the time/location of the next game. Originally, they were convinced that the second game would take place in Japan. But given the art style and that long look that Da Vinci drawing, I'd say it takes place in continental Europe during the renaissance. *SPOILERS* But I dunno. It could be anywhere. At the very end, when you look into that piece of eden and there are all those little lights everywhere, there are SEVERAL locations that historally had assassins in them. Japan and India stood out most notably, and what with the whole ninja pop-culture thing, I dunno. But given that Ubi is a french company, I guess renaissance europe is as good a guess as any. /SPOILERS

Woah. Very interesting. As always, I'm super pleased with the turnout and opinions voiced herein. I feel like I have a better understanding of the "Hardcore Gamer" and what it means. I guess it also means I need to adjust my point of view on it...I guess it isn't an entirely negative thing. Also, what are we if we have more than 50 man months of game time? Aside from crippled from the wrist down?
-
Okay, if you'll allow me a little rant, and I actually do have a question for everyone here...just a little background first. Okay. "Hardcore" gamers. When I hear this term, I don't think of Halo kids playing their little hearts out or frat boys playing their sports games like microsoft wants me to. No, I think of dudes who have been on the scene since "pong" and who are probably so jaded by the gaming industry they flirt with quitting every time they pick up a new title. I absolutely HATE this marketing bullshit about "hardcore". There are no hardcore gamers, and if there are, they are NOT the people who only own an Xbox360, Halo 3, and a few sports games. One of the things I loved about the video game thing when I was younger was that it hadn't quite gone mainstream yet, at least not in the states. Games were for little kids, and so most marketing was aimed at them. But no, we're over 20 now, games are for everyone, from your dog to your grandma, and those jerks in marketing are doing the same thing to video games that they did to music decades ago. [/rant] Sorry about that. *ahem*. Anyways, what do you guys think of this "hardcore gamer" title, and how do you feel about the evolution of the video game industry (and the image/marketing strategies thereof)?

I dunno man. After SH4, the series just...well, I'll be frank, I hate it, and I'm very skeptical of any new Silent Hill stuff. 0rigins was terrible and SH5 was worse. I feel like we should just leave it alone and let it have its spot in history (like we should have done with MGS before they released 4)...anyways. If they MUST release another one, seeing it go more in a "clocktower" direction is the best I could hope for. I have mixed feelings about the whole "no combat" thing, but it's worked before, and if the do it right, it'll work again. I'm more skeptical than I am excited about this, though. Provided it's not some jolly attempt at an April Fools joke. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about a suped-up port for this new idea testing. Granted, they're running out of "average-joe-with-a-sordid-past" protagonists, but still...I dunno about this.

Mandatory congratulations! I almost feel a special bond here, because around the 22nd is when I met a super-awesome and girl we started dating. *Sniff*. Love is...so beautiful. Best wishes. -
E, baby. E all the way. I love everything about all aspects of game music. From "Music of my Groin" to "Metal Gear May Cry", the source, the style, the remixer, stuff I've never even heard of before...baby, I do it all.

Holy Crap. DS, thank you for posting this. I'd heard that Bats had kicked the can (and of course I knew better) but I'm so out of the DC loop right now I might have missed this! I'll be sure to look into this BftC business and jump into the discussion. A world without Bruce Wayne as Batman? Well...worked well enough in 52, I guess.

Brian Michael Bendis, despite some questionable stories, is probably the best thing to happen to marvel in the last 20 years. I'd heard he wasn't going to continue doing Ultimate Spidy, but I could be wrong. Guess I'll go check and update everyone. I know he's the big man at marvel right now, what with him being in charge of the Avengers (and that big "Dark Avengers" event that's supposed to be WAY better than secret invasion was). Oh! And yes, after review, Bendis is going to keep on writing Ultimate Spiderman. It was his artist that was leaving after 110 issues together. Whee!
-
He's always been silly. One of his key personality traits is the ability to make horrible punny comments about nearly ANY situation. Maybe now you're just taking him less seriously. I had a similar revelation about comics a little while back. You just gotta look for the "good stuff". The best spiderman stuff I've seen recently is his "Ultimate" incarnation. It's a restart, which I'm sure you're sick of by now, but it was pretty good by my standards.

Holy crap it's out! Guys, it's OUT! Yes! My days of torment and waiting are over! Seriously though, this project was well worth the wait. The music sounds great, and the lossless versions are Incredible. Much love. Seeding 4 life. Now, back to waiting for the "Missingno Tracks".
