Soul Splint

Wow, you and I are opposites. I've been pounding 3 to 4k calories a day since November 1, and it's been easy. I'm dreading starting my cutting phase in a couple of weeks, I'll feel like I'm starving all day every day. But, you can't really appreciate the good weight you've put on until you take off some of the bad weight.

Yeah, that irked me a bit too with Kid Icarus (and slightly with Zelda OoT), but I think my wrist has gotten the muscle memory down now, so it's not a problem anymore. But KI definitely took some practice (yay trying to dodge bullets when you can't tell exactly where they are because you can't hold the screen straight because you're focusing on shooting all the other enemies because your life is getting low because because because because...)

I never had an original 3DS, but I can tell you the games I have look pretty smexy on the XL. I was wondering if it would be a little too big for my taste (especially going from a DS Lite to a 3DS XL), but I love it. Looking at size comparisons online, I can safely say I much prefer the XL to the original, because the few initial worries I had about the system were proven untrue firsthand.

There's been talk of Sony doing this with the PS4 for at least as long as the speculation about the 720. I doubt collusion is involved, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if one emulated the other to put a stranglehold on the market. Although what BooDidley said rings true: if one does place restrictions and the other doesn't, the latter will likely see many more console sales. (Unless the PS4 debuts with a price tag similar to what the PS3 had). As for Steam, it's something I want to like but just can't. I want to physically own a game whenever possible, because I've had a few too many experiences in the past where digital copies have been a much bigger pain than they should have been.

So far there have been quite a few claims that the new Microsoft Xbox that will likely be shown at this year's E3 will not play used games, and will require an internet connection at all times in order to enforce that. Now all of these claims have come from "multiple unnamed sources" meaning they are far from validated, but so far Microsoft has done nothing to dispel these 'rumors'. I love my 360. Play it every day, usually. But this is a step so far in the wrong direction it's damn disconcerting, and so far the overwhelming public sentement seems to be leaning toward dismal opening sales for the system. So here's my beef: what kind (if any) sense would it make for Microsoft to do this, if indeed they are planning on it? I'm just trying to understand why someone would make this decision and what the likelihood of them following through with it would be if people threaten to boycott (which usually never works, as gamers can be a fickle bunch). I would say only about 20 percent of my games were pre-owned, but a company dictating that I CANNOT play used games really gets my hackles up. I don't even want to think about the possibility of rising prices on games if this did go through. tl;dr Would Microsoft dare to make the Xbox 720 unable to play used games? What would the gaming community's response be?

Played the EO IV demo last night. Seems pretty good, apparently my RPG burnout from DQ IX is finally wearing off. I played that game for something like 130 hours on my second playthrough.

Holy crap that sounds maddeningly familiar. I'll let it marinate for a while and see if I can remember what it's from.

This is a very pleasant, chill take on the source. I really enjoyed the slight timing changes from the original melody. Hopefully someone with musical skill will come along soon and give you some specific feedback. Download would be nice...<sad puppy eyes>

That must be nice. I was able to get one today, but the guy right across from me must have had three raw onions and a clove of garlic for a pre-workout snack. It was a definite win/lose moment.

I don't build these teams for the main game. They're for online battling. And when I say 'perfect', I mean in an OCD kind of way. I have several very strong teams, but they're not perfect in that they can be improved upon with strong IVs.

I totally agree on not using things like PokeGen to generate a perfect team; there's no fun in that. Team building itself has always been fun to me (with the exception of IV breeding). Of all the Dittos I've ever caught, I've never gotten one with even all IVs above 20. I think once X&Y come out, I'll finally grit my teeth and try until I catch a really good one, and get into IV breeding for once, just to have at least one 'perfect' team.

But didn't you get that Ditto from PokeGen? I seem to remember you saying you did, maybe I'm misremembering. I have never been able to get that site to work for me.

EVs, yes. IVs, NOOOOOOOOOOO. The only thing I've ever done with IVs is use a calculator to see which of the five or so wild pokemon I've caught (of the same species) has the best IVs and a preferable nature, so I know to go with that one. Screw all the breeding work for good IVs. EVs aren't that bad if you're building one legitimate team, because you'll be battling a lot to level them up anyway. Might as well battle the right kind of mons so you can get the stats you want.

Can I just say YAY. After playing B&W to death, then jumping right into B&W2, I'm a little burnt out on the mons right now, so this sounds like a good excuse to not touch anything pokemon related until October. It'll make it that much sweeter on my XL.

Who else is starting to lose their patience at the gym with the flood of resolutioners? Don't get me wrong, I commend them for making an effort, but does it really seem like the best place to check your phone is right in front of THE WATER FOUNTAIN? If it was just once I would ignore it. Three different people in under an hour is cause for concern.

Man, the holidays were rough on my workouts. Hittin' it back hard on the 2nd. But in good news, I gained over ten GOOD pounds since early November. Still need to get one of those scales so I can check my exact stats.

Cool, I think I'll invest in one of those scales. It'd be a nice change from the Wii, which tells me I'm nearly obese because it doesn't understand that tallness plus a little muscle mass = a higher than average weight:) Seriously, my Mii is a bit pitiful. Definite muffin top.

What are you using to calculate all that? I wantz stats 2! Judging by your stat allocation, clearly you are a Final Fantasy Monk (even the hairstyle proves it).

Woot! Blue/Black 3DS XL received for my b-day! Pre-installed with MK7 no less. Iz happy.

If you're not already familiar with it, give Harmony's NightTime Evolution a shot. It's got a very nicely paced, slick percussion track that (for me) is great for stimulating work and thought.
