  1. WANT Mario Kart for Wii Mario Kart for DS (not MK7 for 3DS)
  2. Well, based on his age and your PSX, you can't go wrong with the Crash Bandicoot series. 1-3 are great, Wrath of Cortex for the PS2 (the fourth installment) was the last good game IMO. For PS2, Jak and Daxter is another great series, along with Ratchet and Clank. I don't know of many RPG's that would suit an 8 year old. You can buy Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie on XBLA, both great games and suited for his age. And of course, there's always Pokemon for GBA and DS.
  3. With that many systems you're going to get hundreds of answers. Can you elaborate on a genre or two or maybe give some more examples of games he currently likes?
  4. Caaaaaaaaake! But make sure you brush your teeth afterward
  5. I wasn't surprised the music was forgettable (except for the Lanayru Desert theme, especially when it switches back and forth when you're in the field of activated time stones), but I was really disappointed in how bland the harp tunes tended to be.
  6. Alright. It's about the time when people get into their resolutions full steam ahead, so if anyone's interested, let's lay our foundations out for others to see along with our goals and current progress. I'm doing mine because I wanted a head start on beach season, but it syncs up with resolutions, so... Started P90X-2 two weeks ago. I've been trying to gain good weight for so long that I gained a little fat around the hips, so I'm nailing a hardcore diet with the program at first to get rid of that. So far I've lost 9.7 pounds and am already looking more defined. My goal is to stop losing in another two weeks then start eating about 3,000 calories a day of nothing but muscle-building goodness. I'll be finished with PX2 in late March, and am looking to be about the same weight as when I started, but a much lower body fat percentage. Then I can start a heavy lifting program. Anyone else?
  7. Megaman 3 - The Passing of the Blue Crown Megaman X3 - Revolutions Mass Effect 2 - The Sound of the Galaxy Sonic 3 - Breaking the Ice Super Mario 64 - The Alternate Route These always help me eke out an extra rep or two:-)
  8. Everything I've seen on Assault Horizon looks kind of negative. Unfortunately for you, Ace Combat 6 wasn't released on PS3; it's supposedly much better than Assault Horizon and is my favorite flying game by far. Perhaps Assault Horizon will be okay for you though, especially if you haven't played Ace Combat 6, which would probably ruin Assault Horizon for you.
  9. Hmm. I'm much more familiar with the DC1 soundtrack, and not much pops out at me from that one. If I had to pick a track I'd say , but I'm not even sure that would work. I've only played through DC2 once, so I don't know about those tracks.
  10. I did not mean to hijack the thread with what I thought was a pretty common musical verb. Blow=sing like a champ. I retract my previous statement and hereby replace it with "My, that gentleman must have the lungs of a sperm whale and the vibrato of a farting hippopotamus, for he doth sing much better than mine ears expected." No less crude, but at least this one can't be misconstrued.
  11. I was expecting it to be funny; I was not expecting the dude to be able to blow like that. Good stuff.
  12. Merry Christmas! I feel a little spoiled this year: The World Ends With You Skyward Sword Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together FF Tactics: The War of the Lions 7 great books and lots of workout clothes, plus P90X-2. It's gonna be glorious... Yes, having the wife coordinate gift giving is a win-win situation.
  13. It sounds much clearer now, so good work on that. I loved the softer end piece; perhaps you could expand it a bit. As for the rest of the song it just needs more variation. Play around with the melody some, change up some notes, add some counter-melody where you can. The song has a long way to go but you have a very solid foundation. Keep adding updates and you'll eventually get some very broken-down feedback from other experienced mixers like Mono (paging Gario, Rozo, anyone), so don't give up.
  14. First off, you win just for mixing Dark Cloud 2. But I must agree with Mono; the mix is very muddy. The synths are nice and playful but they need more going on behind them, otherwise they'll feel overbearing and exposed. Also after the first few seconds the percussion started to feel really intrusive, like it was holding the song back rather than moving it forward. I think part of this was because the snare was so overpowering. This is a solid start overall. Tinker with it a bit and keep it on this forum; give some more seasoned remixers time to give you more specific feedback. Now how about mixing a Dark Cloud 3 song? Oh wait...
  15. Damn that would be fun. Unfortunately I'm in Georgia. Guess I'll have to settle for watching Stand and Deliver.
  16. This, this and THIS. It's incredibly infuriating to ask a doctor a question like "How can I gain more lean mass when I'm already using large amounts of calories and protein," or "What's the best rep range to optimize muscle mass" and have them stare at you like you just revealed an extra set of nipples. Given, I know that's not what they expect to deal with, but every doctor should know a little something about how to optimize the human body rather than just fix its problems. And yes, I plan on soon adding a glass or two of whole milk to my daily routine, and I'll scale it up depending on the success I have, if any. If it works wonders I may try to get up near a gallon a day. I set out for sixty pounds and I've already got forty; if it takes a little bit of temporary acne/bowel changes to reach it, then so be it.
  17. Back when I was actively trying to gain weight, I was averaging above five thousand a day. In the last six months I would say I've been averaging three thousand. Trust me, I'm a true ectomorph. So it looks like with all that food I'll be a prime candidate to try GOMAD. But thanks for the concern for my...evacuation systems.
  18. Uhh....No, I didn't know that. I very clearly remember reading on some site that you couldn't reset it, so I never bothered to try. Well yay, I get to try again. Thanks.
  19. Frigging IMPISH nature (+def -SpecAtt) with mediocre IV's. Looks like mine's going to be more of a trophy than part of a legendary team...
  20. So you ask one of your US based OCR-buddies to be a pal and get one for you, then ship it to you. I for one would do it, and I'm sure there are others. By the way, it can also be pre-ordered from Nintendo of America starting Dec. 12.
  21. Hmmm. I could give GOMAD a try; I love me some milk anyway. I hope it helps. I'm concerned that most of the problem is that I'm a natural ectomorph (tall and skinny). It was an uphill battle to gain the forty pounds that I did, and I'm afraid my body just won't let me have anymore. Oh well. I'll try anything!
  22. Damn you Sony. See what you've done to us? So basically it's going to boil down to which libraries hold the most appeal to you and your son. If you don't care about PS3 games, the PS2 will give you access to the PS2 and PS1 libraries. If you don't care about PS2 games, the PS3 will cover PS3 and PS1. Or you could try to find a fully backwards compatible PS3 and have access to everything. My apologies to Chimpazilla if we've made you go cross-eyed.
  23. Not all PS3's have the ability to play PS2 games, and the ones that ARE backwards compatible can be hard to track down, and are generally more expensive. However, ALL PS2's are backwards compatible with PS1 games, so if there aren't many PS3 games you/he are interested in, the PS2 would probably be the best choice.
  24. How about a name to make it sound official? Back when the first BK project started (couple a years ago) I suggested Banjo-Kazooie: The Bear-Witch project. Feel free to use it if you like, if not, it's your album.
