  1. Tant pis pour lui, on n'a pas toute la journee! Depeche-toi, doulifee, avec la vitesse de Dieu! (or as close to it as possible )
  2. Fourth with 4 votes!! that's gotta be a sign of how leet i really am, right? But yes, Washington Maverick's piece was well deserving. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to start vocalizing my analysis just yet, but i'll say, great job Mr. Maverick.
  3. Yeah, you'd think there would be one on this site, if any, hehe.
  4. Oh but he isn't asleep. He's like Chuck Norris: he waits.
  5. It can be done to humorous effect, effectively. It makes the whole situation awkwarder for the hypocrite/narrow-minded individual because they realize how they are getting royally grilled for their change of heart, perhaps giving them a sense of indebtedness because of how obvious their change was.. but of course, that approach is not for the faint of heart, nor for someone to be doing on those other than friends... it smacks of pretentiousness and, lulz, it wouldn't really get your argument anywhere if you sound like a twerp about it. ....unless.. you were a real psychologist/psychiatrist.. then you could charge them for your services afterward Or if you were doing a commercial about it. I can see this whole conversation between two fairly calm, quiet, rational individuals taking place outside a residence next to a car take place, and it would be the perfect segue into a whitewash Chinese restaurant plugging.
  6. With all this discussion, it makes me wonder if making VG remixes more acceptable to society will be of any benefit. I guess I'm being too much of a pessimist, but considering how prejudice people can be, is it worth it to really try to open peoples' eyes to every individual variation from the styles and "norms" they accept, when we're all going to die anyway? Let's just save ourselves the trouble and take a nap, eh?
  7. I've voted, and I must say, there were a lot of works to choose from, and most of them (if not all of them) were excellent in their own rights, for their own reasons, in their own ways. It was interesting and mildly taxing to read the pieces, and that's, I think, a good thing. Good luck. (That is to say, I'm fairly certain I won't win).
  8. I have a couple of types of friends, at least, among those to whom I have presented various OCR oeuvres. Note that I try to coordinate what I demonstrate/what I listen to around them to what I perceive their tastes to be. OCR has actually expanded my tastes, which is neat. I have one friend who finds anything other than the original video game music unworthy of his listening (meaning, he thinks VGM should be preserved in its original form). This is ... an interesting case. I can relate to him, in that before I found OCR and the real quality behind these works I felt the same way. I have some friends who are a little skeptical about what I listen to. Some pieces sound interesting to them, others are discredited as crap (well, I do listen to a lot of the works from 2000-2002, which was a period of markedly lower standards). I find these people to be of the open-minded populace. I am a person who likes to do a lot of listening, and when they discuss their own favorites in music, I seem to note that while they do have band preferences and biases, they will tolerate what they find satisfactory, even if it is from a "blacklisted" group. And I have other friends who don't have a problem with it at all, and even some that like what I have to offer... I haven't really found anyone who genuinely dislikes what I have, even if I tell them what it is. I guess it's because it's what I'm listening to, so they don't care. ..oh, and by the way, are you guys shoving this music down their throats? I have found that to be completely impossible, and it's bound to repel them. (And if you have found ways to shove music down their throats without deterring them, please, do share how, because I would like to hear some of my favorite pieces of music from time to time when I hang out with my friends, lol)
  9. Happy birthday, mate. (alright, i'm not really Australian, but I can pretend can't I? lol)
  10. Yes, especially if taking any advice from me, back up early and often I don't know, I am a bit biased about this song because I like it to death, and I have heard it and remixes of it very frequently in the past year (like 70% of what I've been listening to) so maybe you shouldn't take my opinion as all that much. (which makes me wonder, why the hell do i even post if I don't think you should take my opinion too seriously, lol) But this still might end up staying in my collection of ice cap zone remixes
  11. I take it you're trying to go for a more upbeat-summertime-fun-and-hey-maybe-we-could-rave-to-these-beats spin on this song, which, if I'm right, is cool. Just as far as ... arrangement goes (oh God here I go again giving my uninformed opinion lol), I really like what you have going on at ~3:00 - ... the end of the song. But it goes on for too long and it starts too late. Maybe you should toss it into other sections, or rearrange what you have.. or something. The intro is kinda empty, and kinda long, maybe it would serve nicely as a really-in-the-back and soft melody while the main energy builds? I have no idea. I don't know jack about the production aspect, but I'm basically agreeing with Rozovian's suggestion on the writing. Whatever did happen to his? Did he submit it I wonder? I had better ask him more directly, lol.
  12. That would be the first step towards complete intern3tz contamination, lol.
  13. I know it too. All of Blizzard's games use these sound effects. The Town Portal casting sound in d2 has been heavily overused in sci fi and magic/fantasy movies and series for.. ever.
  14. and i'll go try my hand at dr. wily's theme from mm2.
  15. Could you imagine if Elizabeth decides to marry Mr. Darcy the first time he proposes to her and they become the world's richest and most vile couple? And they'd be throwing their parties and their balls and inviting all their snobby rich friends and monstrous extraterrestrial neighbors? Yeah, they'd be totally dancing to this. Damn, why couldn't Austen make that book less satirical-ha-ha-funny and more Chris-Farley-funny?
  16. Wasn't released to the grand ol' public yet, but it was delivered to the grand ol' bLiNd with loving care. (i just had to type "blind" that way lol) It's good to see you're getting better (I had to retype better about 15 times because it kept coming out betterr or beterr...) and I'm sure this album had played some role in speeding that along . and i probably should have posted these sentiments sooner but i am doing it now and i think a pm would probably be more approrpiate but, well, I already started this so i will finish it. The last metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace..
  17. This mix is one of the most powerful mixes on this site. AmIEvil was always ahead of the curve - I feel like the quality of all the works I've heard go head to head with some of the latest mixes, and like djp has mentioned, they really have a powerful cinematic vibe about them. When I close my eyes, his music plays a movie in my head that he wants me to see. The beauty of this track is in it's simplicity, conjuring up images of a lonely wanderer, journeying away from home, already missing all that and those he holds dear, facing the prospect of never seeing anyone again, of dying alone, of becoming one insignificant tragedy that no one will care to remember... he turns his head around, now facing the camera, eyes emptily searching for any last chance of redemption - the screen cuts to a view of the city from his perspective: happy, content, alive, together, mothers and fathers wrapped up in warm blankets with their children bundled up, enjoying warm cups of hot cocoa, all gathered 'round the open fire, ..but distant; then cutting again to the lonely wanderer - before giving up, dropping his head onto his chest, stuffing his hands into his coat pockets... slowly and solemnly walking away and becoming part of the distance, part of the ice, the snow-covered trees, the ephemeral purple-whispered black night sky... At least that's what I get. I never played FFVI so there are no memories or sentiments attached to this song for me.
  18. LOL! that might flatter shanbubula a bit, hehe. And his 8 bit terra mix is really awesome too.. way better than the version that someone did here on OCR (that was also posted a while ago, and the standards have shifted a bit since then i think.)
  19. A wave of disillusionment is washing over me... here comes pneumonia #4... Oh well, I still like his work, pneumonia and all.
  20. And Jeremy Soule's was done... not live, correct? Like a studio recording? At any rate this is some new territory for OCR - a pretty continuous trend of new feats/accomplishments/areas/etc. throughout the past few years. Cool. But why is eStarland still "Temporarily out of stock" of/on OCR merchandise? I have no choice but to listen to such groundbreaking remixes all nekkid n stuff. Sure, it makes the experience all the more sensual, but c'mon now, this is pretty much free money for you that I can't throw your way, and I'm developing three kinds of pneumonia..
  21. I know, these are pieces that I would prefer to heavily analyze before I vote for the winner and runner up, or whatever I need to do. Oh well, I have time to take them all in
