Yet another remixer that was found by @Modus. This was where a small communication gaff occurred. I was searching for a remixer for the Credits theme just as @Modus was looking for a remixer for the same track! I had found @Chadlee, while he had found @Juke. It was a horrible blunder and I felt completely awful about it. I had suggested that perhaps they could collab on it and work together on the Staff Roll.
However, @Juke had a vision and was on a mission. Within a short span of what I think was a week, he completed the entire remix, dropped the mic and sent us the unmastered wav. At this point, after hearing the finished track, I knew that there was no point to include @Chadlee since it was a completely realized arrangement. So I rolled @Chadlee into another track he was interested in: The Little Jack. I feel this worked out for the best since that melody synced up well with his arranging abilities and I think the album is better off for the unique tracks both remixers took! So what started off as a big goof ended up being a great boon for the entire album! Thanks to both remixers for being good sports about it!

Having been through a remixer previously already on this song and lack of interest in the difficult source material, I wasn't sure if this was a track that was going to make the cut or if I had to replace it with one that was easier to digest and arrange for. However, I really held to my guns, because this was such an influential track for me when I was growing up and playing this game. The atmosphere it generated while facing off a Gigas was immense and terrifying and I truly wanted a remix that would honor the spirit of the track.
So when @Modus said he knew @PrototypeRaptor and had his contact information, I was excited and asked if he could broach the subject with the possibility of him remixing for our album. After getting a response back, @PrototypeRaptor had selected, of all things, the Gigas' Theme! I was ecstatic! Not only was he one of my most favorite remixers on the site (I do believe I have every single remix he's ever done on my HD), but the fact he was doing the one song I really wanted done? This was like a dream come true.
Within record time, over the course of a month or so, the track was finished, pushed forward with an unmastered wav and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. He turned what was an extremely minimal and difficult to arrange source and made it something truly terrifying and awesome! Definitely a standout in the album! And thanks to @Modus for putting us in contact! We wouldn't have had this track if not for him!

This track had a huge, varied history throughout this album. It was claimed quite quickly, within weeks of launching the project by @Garpocalypse and it went through many iterations before the final product. Sometimes we'd go for months without contact from the artist, but he'd always come back with some impressive addition or revamp to the overall track.
In the end, he had this grand idea of having a huge swath of folks who helped work on the album provide background vocals as sort of a collaborative feel to the entire piece. Unfortunately, the call to arms was never truly answered and ultimately, I stepped up to the plate and recorded my own 'Wubba Wubbas' in varying tones and pitches and sent them his way. Using them to great effect, you can hear my small, but crucial (of course! lol) contribution to the track!
It took close to 3 years, off and on, to finally receive the final unmastered wav from @Garpocalypse. Even after that, he'd message back and said he made a few tweaks, he was never quite done with it until I had to do a 'knock it off' and call it final!  Now, after the dust has settled, it is one of my favorite tracks on the album and I am super hyped it is now officially released!

    OC ReMix presents Arcadia Legends!

    December 21, 2018
    Contact: press@ocremix.org

FAIRFAX, VA... OverClocked ReMix today released its 69th free community arrangement album, Arcadia Legends. Featuring 36 tracks from 45 artists, Arcadia Legends pays tribute to the classic - yet currently overlooked - Sega RPG Skies of Arcadia, and is led by first-time director Darkflamewolf along with assistant director Zach "Modus" Long. The album is available for free download at http://arcadia.ocremix.org.

‌Winding down the 15th anniversary year of SoA's GameCube edition (Skies of Arcadia Legends), Arcadia Legends pulls together a deep lineup of veteran and newcomer musicians interpreting Tatsuyuki Maeda & Yutaka Minobe's score in a variety of styles across 2 3/4 hours of creative arrangements. Arcadia Legends was made by fans, for fans, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Sega; all images, characters, and original compositions are copyright their respective owners.

"Amidst all the dark, dreary, depressing, emo RPGs that spawned as a result of the uber-popular Final Fantasy VII, this RPG flew completely under the radar with its expertly used cliche storm and upbeat & happy characters," noted album director Darkflamewolf in praising the original game. "It was a breath of fresh air in a sea of RPG copycats."

The album's artwork was designed by Georgia illustrator and SCAD graduate Patricia "Pat Dag" Daguisan, as well as album assistant director Modus, and UK artist Davy "Odai" Owen.

"It has been a wild adventure and a crazy trip for my first time directing an OC ReMix album and quite an ambitious one at that! Every single remixer did a fantastic job bringing their unique individuality to the album!" Darkflamewolf offered. "This was an album I felt the world needed and I dedicate this to all the fans of this beloved, cult classic game."

With the release of Arcadia Legends, Skies of Arcadia becomes the third Sega franchise to receive an OC ReMix's arrangement album, following a plethora of Sonic the Hedgehog series tributes, along with 2011's NiGHTS: Lucid Dreaming honoring NiGHTS into dreams....

The legato trumpet and the 6 french horns from OE2 still frequently find their way in my tracks, so I get ya. If one already has a base orchestral library, then OE 2 might be more interesting. If you don’t have any decent orchestral stuff, I would still recommend OE1 simply because it covers all the basics.

@Meteo Xavier I've given you a warning and hidden your post; I get that there is animosity but when you come at things sideways like this and bring tons of baggage into an otherwise on-topic conversation, I can't do much. This needs to be hashed out in private, between the two of you, or not at all and you can both use the block/ignore function. Those are the only reasonable options I'm aware of.
...and on-topic, I actually went for SAM Essentials 2 instead of 1, because I liked the place it fit with everything else I had, and because red is better than green. It DOES load faster & chew up less resources than most Spitfire stuff, and while the mic options & general customization is limited, it can sound very good.

With SSD's, the RAM usage of patches decreases by lowering the DFD buffer setting in Kontakt. A typical orchestral patch for me is around 75-125 MB or so.
Additionally, one can save a ton of RAM by unloading all mic positions besides the close mic in any patches and using reverb processing in the DAW instead. I recommend this workflow anyway regardless of what era of orchestral library is being used because it just leads to much better mixes and allows for blending libraries from different developers.

there's a lot of planning and organization behind the scenes that needs to happen, and it's performed by volunteers who have all sort of personal stuff that might occupy their time. in the same way that it might take someone months to finish a 4-minute track, organizing a release can take a lot of time too!

I think when I first came here, it took me time to come to appreciate the tremendous amount of help you guys give (call it early ignorance), but looking back, I think I was most inspired by @zircon, @WillRock, @Chimpazilla, @Gario, @djpretzel, and of course @Liontamer, who could forget him?
zircon is kind of an obvious one --- I learned most of what I know in music from studying his, from watching his streams / remix walkthroughs, etc. It has also been a pleasure and a joy to do sound design and to test Super Audio Cart (SAC) and SAC PC.
I've generally found Willrock to be someone who really made an identity for himself; he isn't afraid to express himself, and he makes music that is clearly identifiable as his own.
Chimpazilla has been a good influence on me from nearly the start, and inspired me to realize that collaboration opens you up to new ideas and really supports you in areas you still need to work on.
Gario is like a super-mod, who is also very empathetic, and eloquent. He inspires me to express my feedback in both clear-cut and respectful ways, and in essence it's great for my character.
djpretzel has a great sense of humor and writes excellent ReMix writeups, and does plenty of behind-the-scenes administration, advertisement, and legal stuff for the website, youtube, twitter, etc. while not necessarily getting the thanks he deserves. Without djp, we wouldn't even be here now, talking about... each other. Woah.
Liontamer is honest, direct, and pleasantly sarcastic.  If he had to, he could probably carry the legacy of OCR on his shoulders, and he really embodies the spirit of OCR, IMO. He's also damn funny.

If I forget anyone, it's not a knock on you, by the way.

You guys who named me as inspirational <3
Ok when it comes to remixers that inspired me from OCR there are 3 people who instantly pop in my head - @Sixto, @bLiNd and @zircon. Sure there are other remixers I could probably name but they were some of the most striking remixers I found here from an early age and helped shape my own style.
Also, this is going to sound super corny but you can't have a question like this and not mention @djpretzel - Sometimes I don't think people give him enough credit, creating this site - When I joined in what? 2008? The site had already been going for 9 years, from what I have been told, the site had a HUGE surge of popularity and influence long before I even knew the site existed - when I joined it was pretty much the only place where there appeared to be a community based on this stuff, and from what I can tell, its one of the first of its type. How many of us would be where we are if djpretzel hadn't founded OCR? Honestly? What is the video game remix scene without him? If thats not inspirational, I don't know what is.

So, I'm not familiar with the source material, but I was listening to this while driving.  I just thought to myself, MAN this sounds like T-Square.  A band which has a direct connection to me eventually discovering OCRemix in the first place!

Never having an SNES growing up -> Discovering emulation -> Playing with sound channels -> playing songs on my keyboard -> Discovering MIDIs and MIDI hosting websites -> Somehow finding Moon over the Castle from Gran Turismo.

So now I have a 3.5" floppy disk with my most favorite MIDIs that I take to school and friend houses, with Moon Over the Castle being my absolute favorite.

Then while getting ready for school one morning, I randomly hear a bit of Moon Over the Castle.  On TV.  On the morning NEWS!?  What the heck... it's some bit about video games I don't know.  But holy crap, that was the first time I heard what amounted to my favorite piece of music at the time with real instruments.

In comes Napster.  And the discovery of the following: Masahiro Andoh, T-Square, Red in Blue, and perhaps most importantly, more versions of Moon Over the Castle.  I had discovered the term "remix."  And with it, so very, very many things.  Super Mario remixes, Legend of Zelda.  Virt, McVaffe (and his so very many).  And eventually... this tag that was on the end of so many of these tracks... "ocremix" ...

Holy cow that was like... 19-20 years ago...  Man I was discovering remixed video game music about the same time OCRemix was being born.

I like to mention @AeroZ for both the chippy, lofi elements of his arrangements that have been directly inspiring for my own arrangements, but also the amazing cello stuff, 7th Saga album in particular. Shnabubula has been an inspiration for many things, amazing musicianship, improvisational capability (showcased through his VGM Cast streams) and for me as a ReMixer, in particular the creative arranging. Same goes for @djpretzel, his arranging unsurprisingly embodies the interpretational aspect of OCR approach, on top of that I appreciate him showing his love for Sega and also doing less-arranged games (like everyone I'm mentioning).
Additionally I've been incredibly inspired by my regular collaboration partners @Jorito and @Tuberz McGee. Additional shout-outs to all the album directors and also compo-organizers such as @Bundeslang, @HoboKa, @DarkeSword, @FenixDown and Brandon Strader - I very rarely finish any tracks that don't have competition or album deadlines at last at one point, and/or collaborators to actively work with. So in a very direct way these people are an inspiration to the tracks I ever end up finishing.

I think I've mentioned this a lot of times already, but Jorrith is just a beast! There's absolutely nothing that can go wrong when this guy is doing his business! Once again, he created something that's simply stuck in my head. Such a catchy song! The instrumental is actually quite remeniscent of Jorito's "Kill the Groove", I think. A little less aggressive, but the bounce is all the same! And, damn, I just need to mention the vocals. They're probably even a little bit too god for me, haha  Seriously, though, both of you should be proud of your work. Mad props for this track!

Oh... This is sooooo cool  I really love how this track sounds pretty much like some of the older djp's stuff, but with a modern touch to it and even almost a bit of glitch-hoppish flavor (those drops at 1:09 and 2:28 are hella fun!). Not even going to mention the TJ&E vibes coming from this remix, haha. For some reason, this track slightly reminds me of Bluelighter's "A Kingdom Under the Sea" and djp's "Twoson Hits the Road" and God knows what else. YES, I realize that this one is completly different in terms of genre, but, man, this feels nothing but cute, cozy, happy and warm. So much to love here!
