  1. Much, much, MUCH, better than the source tune of the puzzles. Thank god. Yeah, kinda short and bite-sized, but when it comes down to it, I think that adds to my appreciation of this particular tune, considering the source. Very light jazz with a nice piano and glitched up drums, perfect for a quick break. Good ReMix for a good game. Can't really ask for more.
  2. Grand and epic, man. I love the contrast between the opening majestic-like theme and going (literally) into the dark, tense Hell and then back to grander things. This orchestration does not stop short and yet it still doesn't sound like 6:00, which shows great spacing and keeps the listeners drawn in. Wonderful arrangement, the instruments sound tip top and a damn good way to go out in 2010! Highly recommended.
  3. That guitar! Damn, that guitar sounds so crisp and high quality, it's fantastic! I can actually hear the whole Top 40 thing and it really works with this. The lyrics are good and fit the character. Nothing against any other ReMix on the site, cause there are a lot that sound like this, but this one in particular just has that professional radio sound and you can almost picture being played for no reason other than it was good. Absolutely one of the best ReMixes of Ken's theme. Can you say I've enjoyed this? Shoryuken!
  4. Combining two of the best themes from DKC2 and sounding this good doing it is an impressive feat. This is a very slick ReMix and I kinda get Metroid and Mass Effect (that one could be just me) vibes from it. Not particularly the kind of chill that I can actually chill to, but it's peaceful and all around awesome. Very mystical and rewarding to hear. And with that, I think I caught up on the DKC ReMixes....until the next one drops.
  5. Smooth silky goodness. I've always enjoyed psy-(insert subtype here) sounding music, so psybient and/or psydub works for me. AnSo did real well in taking this theme and putting that chilling and relaxing dub twist to it. I like the "wobbling" sounds at the end. Very nice.
  6. I love the source tune. It really is almost the Ice Cap of the DKC games (even though I like the factories and Mines better). This ReMix did good at giving the tune justice and gives us yet another way to listen to it. Nice and mellow, but at least it has some energy to it. The only thing I didn't like was it sounded like one of the keys or bells or something was a bit to high and came off as harshly sharp. Didn't like it, but it didn't detract from the song that much and still lent to the electric feel of it. Aside from that, awesome ReMix.
  7. While I don't mind Midi-chiptunish sounding ReMixes, this sounded a little TOO chiptunish for me. It was kinda grating and awkward all over. I do, however, like that you tried to take a somber and serious source and make it upbeat. I love the sound of Stickerbush Symphony upbeat and full of energy. It was definitely different. Perhaps a cleaned up version would be amazing, as the whole idea of a faster happy ReMix of this song intrigues me, but this isn't exactly it. Not the best I've heard, but good try.
  8. Incredible build up for this DnB ReMix. It was pretty liberal, but the melody was still there and was enjoyable. The evolution over the course of the song was great, going from piano to live sax and more. The fade out was kinda unexpected, cause I expected it to go in reverse and deconstruct back to the piano before ending, but it still did the job of ending it before it went too far. Good job on this.
  9. Ah, a nice Winter ReMix for the end of the year. The lyrics are really good for getting the point across, and Stevo's voice is actually pretty good! It does have that 70's vibe to it, and it really seems to just fit the mood and vocals of the song. I really enjoy the whole echoing "Hey Dreamer" bit at the end. Awesome stuff, Stevo.
  10. Whoo! Loving it! Pretty good song for Mega Man's birthday, and yet another example of a vocal ReMix done right. But god, that singer's voice sounds like another one that I've heard, especially near the end and I can't remember who it is. That's going to bother me all day now. Excellent guitars, nice darker lyrics, ace drums and a good rock song overall. Very, very nice.
  11. Wow! That's the only thing that comes to my mind after hearing this. Those vocals sold this ReMix and I can just imagine hearing this anywhere. Nice mix of rock and rap. I'm definitely impressed by this one and I enjoy the ReMix of the song itself. One of the best vocal mixes I've heard on the site so far. As the cows would say, "Well done".
  12. The opening sound effects where great as were the vocals, but the distorted thing sounded a bit too distorted for me. Very jazzy though. I loved the muted trumpet and the slow down was really groovy and I'm glad the second part evened out on the distortion. Very interesting beat indeed.
  13. Excellent ReMix. Very different from the original and I never thought I'd hear it like this. Kinda weird, but I like the non-mechanical sounding Fear Factory. The flute somewhere in the beginning is a little meh, but aside from that, great stuff. Very ambient and pleasant take on my favorite DKC theme.
  14. Maybe it's just me, but the beginning build is pretty sweet. It just sounds like something big is coming, and it does. This is funkier than Funky Kong....and that pretty funky. The piano was a pretty nice little breakdown before the grand whooping section. Loud and proud, this ReMix is.
  15. Damn, I didn't realize I missed almost every Aquatic Ambiance ReMix when reviewing. The opening sound effects were very impressive and the smooth lead in set the mood. After the energy picked up, I loved it. It seemed weird to me hearing a technoish beat with a piano lead, but that wasn't a bad thing at all. Still seems a bit conservative on the melody in the middle, but really, there is no fault when its THIS melody. Disco Dan pulled this off nicely and this is a win to me. Thank god for a smooth and classy ocean ending.
  16. I can hear where this was supposed to go, and I think it only got some of the way there. Some of the samples seemed weak or completely fake and the end was abrupt and awkward. Still, it wasn't so far down that I couldn't enjoy it and a revised version would probably take this the rest of the way. Not amazing, but alright.
  17. That rocking lead was hot! Good dance beat and most of the vocals go well. Very nice rock techno ReMix. The only thing I don't like about this one is those damn monkey calls at the end. Seemed too shrill and annoying rather than fitting like the beginning ones. Also, random explosion at the end was random. End just didn't do it for me at all, but other than that, cheers on a good ReMix.
  18. The piano was beautiful in this, it really was. I enjoyed that bit, and then the bit with the piano and the synth, and then the synth alone. Can't say I liked the monkey roars and stuff like that, but it didn't seem like it was there for even ten seconds, so it didn't really bother me. Great ReMix, but I dug the piano bit more than the synth bit. Sounded the best when they were together, but that's just me.
  19. Lots of great energy in this ReMix. The breakdown was still energetic without being overly hyper and the beat really grooves. Definitely a cool take on the track.
  20. Hmm, interesting ReMix. Goes in quite a few places but doesn't seem to overdo it. I can picture the whole dolphin swimming through the sea with dreary clouds coming in, and then the storm breaking out in guitar before the peace returns in the end. Love the piano. When that guitar opens up, sweetness! Gotta say that the ending was a good finish after that.
  21. Oh, nice! I'm really digging the jazzy Latin beat that gets stronger over the course of the mix. This is simply amazing! Man, this is a sexy ReMix, especially in the last two minutes. Damn.
  22. Real close to the original on this one. Almost too close. But seeing as how the original was terrific, I can't really fault it. Sounds like a ramped up version and I can dig that. Really chill and relaxing.
  23. Wow, this blows my mind right here. The idea that a five second tune can create something as dark, creepy and suspenseful as this is fantastic. It says with that tense feeling the whole way through and doesn't get overly frantic, so this ReMix definitely works for me.
  24. It's an impressive ReMix for sure. The funky bass and the stronger drums lead the way. The only nitpick I'd have is that it seemed to take a long time to get to that sweet 2:23 point of the mix where everything turns gold. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I kinda felt that maybe a slight switch up was in order somewhere in there to keep interest before the climax. Still, great stuff on a good source and it really shows how good you are. I'm loving the RHCP vibe I get from it as well.
  25. Ah, relaxing, easy going and peaceful. It really does give off that "floating through space" feeling that seems to be key in this game and music. The vibe is just so smooth and natural. I'm glad the first SMG ReMix turned out to be enjoyable and solid. Hopefully the rest of the game gets some love, cause the soundtrack opens up so many possibilities for sweet mixes like this one.
