  1. Oh....such beautiful music, good sir! The piano was SO good, and when the drums kick in, holy shit! This has....em....let's see if I can say it right, a kind of classy heroic anthemish thing going on in the middle, and it really blows me away before ending on that piano again. It's just one of those ReMixes that are so amazing, they seem to go by really fast and truly make me want more. Thank goodness for the repeat button.
  2. Ah yes! The Final Road......the best ReMix for this would need a great intro build up, grand instrumentation, breakdown that has Koopa's theme in a dark chord and an epic finish in it complete with bells and thunder............oh, I'll be damned, this has all of it! Seriously, this is awesome, very fitting for one of the last tracks.
  3. Wait, a Mega Man X series track than isn't rock or electonica and sounds amazing? Madness! The smooth piano and hip hop beat is soooooooooo good. Such a peaceful mellow ReMix that is relaxing and calm. This ReMix would be the kinda thing that would blow my mind after a hard day's work or just need to chill out a bit. Awesomeness all around.
  4. Man, I'm going through a lot of techno tracks today. All I can say about this one is that it is a really enjoyable ReMix. Nice electronica drum beat, clear and strong melody presented, and some interesting effects like the thunder and the "Zero the Ultimate Warrior" voice lines. Not a ReMix that demands to be the best, but enjoyable nonetheless.
  5. The chords are the mix. Seriously, I love Trance and I can say that a lot of it is the same beat filled with different sections and areas. This is great work, there is no denying that, and to apply it to Gravity Beetle's theme was cool. It does run a bit long with the repetitiveness, but after years of listening to this type of music, I've gotten used to that (considering some trance goes like this about six or seven minutes) and this is close to perfect on length for me. Sweet stuff.
  6. My thoughts exactly. This is the kind of mood setting dark beats I enjoy. It has a good background beat, while the foreground sets the dark atmosphere of danger and determined action. It's a really good combo I'd like to see more of. Enjoyed the ending credits that sounded like it came from those Window's voices.
  7. Interesting piece, starts off slow and calmish, then hits a good beat around 1:00. Gets really crazy around 2:00 and yet mostly it seems spread out enough to overwhelm and congest everything. The pacing is great and those winding electronics booms in right after 3:00 and good lead up to a finish around the 4;00's. This ReMix is great and brings in great stuff around every minute so that it doesn't become the stale type of electronic. Awesome.
  8. Very nice stuff going on here. Slow piano opening, faster electronic midsection, solid ending. Not really much more to ask for in a good ReMix. Sounds more like a flashback theme than a battle theme, but I'm cool with that considering how good it sounds. I do think it kinda does end a bit faster than one might expect with how it flows, but still, sounds great.
  9. Sweetness. Yeah, the stronghold showdown theme was really forgettable to me sadly, to the point that I didn't even remember it, and DKC 2 is one of my favorite games. But it was good and full of potential. That's when you have to ask "who can take this 22 second thing and turn it into a epic sound-scape that rings in the John Williams style feeling and give it some life?" Nutritious did by a long shot. Grand, adventure bringing goodness that screams movie soundtrack. I love it. Great ReMix.
  10. Less than a day? Really? Damn, the ReMixers here are beasts to knock out mixes like this in a day. I truly am glad to see the Triforce Chamber get a good ReMix. The "Kirbyness" of this makes me smile, and I actually enjoy the chipy-chirpy sound of this. Impressive and grin worthy.
  11. Agreed. The opening guitar work and piano worked together well in the track. The way the ReMix goes in and out of styles was a nice touch. A good ballad if I do say so myself.
  12. Soft, then wacky. Yep, a break beat forest indeed. Good to have that good old Kirby energy working for the track. Very impressive work, and the slow down parts to the piano and Co. were very welcomed for variety sake.
  13. Wow. This is really a coincidence. I really had no intention of reviewing by ReMixer, but going down the list of songs I wanted to review, it turns out I've been behind on a couple of PrototypeRaptor's stuff. And what amazing stuff it is. Drum and Bass Kirby is always welcome when it comes to bosses, especially when you go as hard and as intense as this. Top notch music, and throwing in the legendary Vincent Price laugh was the delightfully creepy cherry on top. I really do like that laugh. Ahahahahahahaha!
  14. Oh epic hell. Joy and happiness abound, this is awesome! Freaking UN Owen, one of the best, if not the best Touhou song there is, is here ReMixed in a orchestral Elfman style that combines darkness and the zany spookiness that this style is know for? PrototypeRaptor, you win. You just fucking win. I really can't say it any other way. A cool treat for Halloween, even if this review is about a month and a half behind. Oh well, maybe this will help open the flood gates so we can get more Touhou goodness on the site.
  15. Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable. This is a really elegant and beautiful piece that brings us some much needed classical sounding tunes. I'm not much of a "classical music" type of guy, but it really helps to have a break from your musical norms and this is a very nice cut from my usual rock and electronica. Glad to see such a great 7 plus minute ReMix represent the album and game it came from. Cheers.
  16. Love, love, love this song. I really do. The amazing arrangement that gives this ReMix more life than the original had really sold this song. I'll be completely honest here, I think this is the best Darangan ReMix I've heard. Yes, even the voice work was well done in my opinion. Sure, the vocals could be a bit stronger here, but he gave it a damn good go and I can't fault him for that, especially when the lyrics are that damn catchy. Plus, I've heard an acoustic version/cover/whatever of this song on YT, and his vocals really fit the lyrics and feeling of the song there, so I don't necessarily think the voice was the issue, so much as it just may not have fit the way the song was played here. Minor voice bit aside, really awesome ReMix and credit to the site's awesomeness.
  17. You know, I have never heard of Dream Theater before I heard this ReMix. And now after hearing about the comparisons and checking it out, I love it. Proof that video game music can lead you to more music to enjoy in the wildest ways. I do hear the influence and this has quickly become one of my favorite ReMixes from the album. The sweet guitar rhythms and the driven, almost frantic pacing really reminds me of that level. And thumbs up for the creative name. Really, Prince of Darkness really delivered on this one, so thumbs up on a truly incredible mix.
  18. Very cool beat in this one. That bass synth......wow! Normally I prefer faster paced electronica songs, but this worked really well. Smooth and crisp, to the point of being enjoyably chilling. Great mix for the project.
  19. Ah, this was a very enjoyable party song. Cute vocal intro, nice guitar and plenty of happy energy. Good to have songs like this in the blasted winter time.
  20. I've heard lots of MMZ themes having a bit of coincidence to real songs, mostly classic rock. I'll see if I can find them again. Found the one I was looking for: Gravity from MMZ 2: Kashmir from Led Zepplin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKtfjsonPFE Just like yours, the intro sounds close to me. Dude on YT noticed it as well.
  21. Oh, here we go. I can't wait to see how many people lash out against either the metal or the vocals. Admittedly, I'm not a screamo/man-growl kind of guy, but with lyrics like this, based on a game I love, with a voice that sounds decent, this is an damn good exception. The guitar work is fantastic and it really has the rough, dirty, and frantically angry sound that a final battle should have. And to be fair, without the lyrics page, I could make out about 95% of the words to Brandon's "man-growls" more than regular metal singers, so good job for doing what I thought was impossible: Growling a song hard enough to be metal, yet light enough to be heard. DKC metal!
  22. Interesting. It does have that evil child vibe to it, with the dark sounds and "tinking" going on. A bit on the "meh" side for me, but well done and gets its point across. The quirkiness of the song does give it the demented atmosphere it needs. Nice.
  23. This mix just goes to show how amazing the DKC 2 Album turned out. To take a dark song and make it even darker with a good beat is amazing. The slow down was sweet and the way it builds back up before hitting that cresendo is sick! Very enjoyable. Oh, BTW, this is the first ReMix I've heard that was so good that someone else made a mashup with it. It's alright, but between "Forgot about Dre" and this, this ReMix is the real prize.
  24. Cool little funky mix here. Personally, I couldn't imagine this ReMix without the voice clips. Probably because I like Sakura and Street Fighter, so the clips don't annoy me as much as they would others. The piano playing the main melody under the upbeat funk was really interesting, especially at half-way. A bit of a party mix to me, and a favorite, for sure.
  25. Dan's.....ice cream truck. Alright, points for the creative title. If OCR did anything for me, it's gotten me to appreciate jazz a little more. I can at least sit still and listen to it long enough to enjoy a good tune. That being said, this is a very good tune. The violin was hot and the great piano playing was the cherry on top for this one. Nice to see Dan get a little coverage.
