  1. A chilling reminder that a great mix can come from anywhere and sound like anything. This breakbeating, mouthslappin' song brings to mind the "Chill" genre of techno, that relaxes and grooves you at the same time. The song flys by before I know it, and that's not a bad thing. Great Mix.
  2. I'm slightly surprised that this is knocked as much as it is. The FX and voices samples seem fine to me and add a little more to the piece. A reploid like Zero should be heard. I will agree that it is a little generic when it comes to the techno side, but it retains the epic sounding second theme of Zero and expands on that by adding his first (and in my opinion, more theme-like) theme. Very nice.
  3. It sounds dated and really Midi-ed out in some areas, but for a track whose source was so short it drove me nuts in the first place, any improvement is good, and this sounds like an improvement. The name does rock indeed, and this is a great sound for an evil virus. Good enough for me.
  4. Guitar mania! Don't know what to say aside from it is awesome. Electronica is just what the doctor ordered for this song, and while his name is House, I don't think he's the same doctor. Oh yeah. I'm in a joker mood today. But the shredding on this mix before it hits the "Dr. Light" (also not the same doctor) part is pretty sweet. This is on my Top.....whatever number list for sure.
  5. Oh Hale yeah. (Couldn't resist. ) Man, I always enjoyed the genre of 50's style music, and I never would have thought of it mixed together could sound this good. The lyrics have a great Mario Kart feeling and Hale's voice is amazing. Really, I liked it. And is it just me, or does MK DS and MK for the SNES have a similar sounding title screen? I was playing MK SNES while thinking of this song and thought I heard a similar tune......oh well. Can't wait for your future ReMixes, man.
  6. I'm not one to go "oh huzzah!" for Christmas music. It's overplayed and just a tiny bit too happy. All the time. It's no wonder that I like Carol of the Bells (the only seemingly not too happy x-mas song around.) That being said, I really enjoyed this ReMix, because while I do hear some Frosty, Merry Christmas and Frappe Snowland in it, it's all wrapped up tight in a wonderfully jazzy present. Very good work on this. If any song can put me in the spirit, it's this, and that's saying something.
  7. Well, this is a happy bubbly little tune, isn't it? This is one of those ReMixes that put a smile on my face for no reason other than sounding like a great song. This lullaby/musicbox part is so cute and I am so tempted to play that part for my niece on loop. I think she'd really like it (and hopefully fall asleep). Mazedude may have some funky moments, but this is just as good as any of them.
  8. The part of me that is Irish will always allow this ReMix to hold a special place in my heart. Seriously, good job on the Celtic vibe of this piece. The bagpipes, whistle, everything was just outstanding! It doesn't hurt with it being a happy go lucky tune. Well done.
  9. A great dance beat. This mix pretty much explains itself and I really dig the idea. Gotta love the vocal at the beginning, as that sold it for me. Oh oh oh yeah!
  10. The piano rocks, but I can't help but think that some more of the original source could have been used. Not the best that has been done, but it's still great and a good ReMix of my fav. stage from this game.
  11. Ohhhhhh yeahhhhhh........now this is chill. The Mix is so soothing a relaxing, and the source is woven in beautifully. Protricity made a heck of an impression with his first ReMix and it's no surprise that this was only the first of many. Keep rocking.
  12. I don't know about Pirates of the Caribbean, cause that was darker and a bit more....pirate-ty. But I can easily imagine a ship leaving the docks with a light-hearted sea crew. A great little tune that's perfect for doing a (jib) jig on the deck and drinking good rum to other sea shantys. Well done, you've earned your "DJ" title as far as I'm concerned.
  13. Gotta hand it to you, bLiNd, you know how to rock a beat. This has got to be the best tune on DKC and hearing it in full techo style is cool. While "Permutation" had an epic (as in style, not degree of awesomeness) sound to it, this has more of an "original" feel and it still makes me smile. The chorus (well, I call it chorus and don't care if that's right) at 2:48 is truly amazing.
  14. First, I agree. This is a great piece DJP! It does focus on the actual theme and I like that about this mix. Second, I have noticed that, and while I don't have 100% anwsers, my guess would be the same as DKC2's soundtrack names. Some places name the track on the level or something like that, and others have the real name. This causes confusion and most people take the one that sounds the best. This is probably something like that. Like I said, that's just my guess.
  15. Fantastic....the xylo beat was probably the part of this and bravo on adding real chello to it. You know, a mix that makes me like the source a little more than I used to makes it greater than some other mixes do to me. The fact that I never cared about the original until I heard this says something. Good job.
  16. Okay, so it's not ZOMG! awesome, but for a track whose source did basically nothing, this seems to be at least a bit better than that. I don't know what melody people are looking for, cause I heard a nice beat (bomp-bomp-bing, bomp-bomp-bing) in there. Minimal, but good enough for me.
  17. Nice sounding ReMix. It does give me a feeling of Christmas with the light bells and piano. Ahhhh, yeah. My only complaint is it seems to end just when it gets really good. But I like it.
  18. And then there were two......well, two tracks by one man. Let's go DJP! The finish line awaits!
  19. First off: Bell at the beginning was like heaven. I don't know why, but that was sweet. I enjoyed the transition near the middle of the song and it really does sound like the darkness and the light. This may not be McVaffe's best ReMix, but it's definantly my favorite.
  20. A good ReMix for straight out chilling. The sax is a bit bothersome, but I can handle it. Prot. and Noppz did work well on this one, but I can't help but wonder what would have happened if either did it as a solo track. Both are really good. The whole song just has a beautiful tone and works well for me.
  21. I really dig the intro. This definantly has 80's and TMNT written all over it. The guitar work was the highlight of this mix. The breakdown was a very nice touch and this was well worth it. Hopefully Turtles in Time gets more love.
  22. Considering that the source for this mix is my favorite stage music of the game, I'd have given it a certain amount of bonus if it needed it. But it doesn't need it. The techno arrangement with the vocal clips were awesome. I know vocal clips are as dicey as real vocals, but I like them. I do think the "Ohhhh" clip at the end could have replaced the more repititive ones from earlier, but oh well. Very good.
  23. Very peaceful and relaxing. The bell chimes are great and the piano has such a good sound. It's just one of those ReMixes I could probably fall asleep to.
  24. Anyone paying attention knows how much I enjoy these dark ReMixes, and it's hard to get even darker than combining the haunted house (I was afraid of these levels when I was five because of that music ) and the Castles from SMW. This is brilliant and screams evil fortress or lair. The fading ending works well.
  25. Ah, yes! I love the classical sound of this ReMix. It's really got a great sound and pulls together on all three mixes from SMRPG. Love the cresendo during Beware the forest Mushrooms. Forest Illusion had a nice a cameo. Well done.
