News I’ll be stepping up as project director because I feel an OCR album tributed to Streets of Rage NEEDS to happen. The first official check in is currently FEB 8 2015 at 11:59 pm. I know a bunch of us will be blasting a weekend at MAG so this should give those that need it some extra time. The Vision In 1999, OverClocked ReMix was born out of a desire to acknowledge video game music as an art form through interpretive arrangement. To that end, the community has expanded into the single-best music-centric community on the Internet, and host to some of the greatest independent musical talent the Internet has to offer. Streets of Rage quickly developed a rabid fan base when it was released in 1991 and was one of the early must have games on the Sega Genesis. The music composed by Yuzo Koshiro stood out in the early days of the Genesis and was very likely responsible for the success the game had. With the music being easily half of the experience of Streets of Rage an OCR tribute album to the game is something that should have happened years ago! Since a number of remixers have a good chunk of work already done I am aiming for a late summer/early fall 2015 release of this first album. However this may end up changing as currently half of the album still needs to be remixed. Genre and Music Guidelines There aren't really any genre restrictions per se, but the project is a nod to both the music of 90s and the OC ReMix community. With that in mind, remixes should contain elements of 90s or late-80s music. If you're having trouble coming up with a suitable 90s genre, checkthis Wikipedia article for some examples. To clarify, you do not need perfectly mirror 90’s production standards. Incorporating a 90’s element could be as simple as using a 90’s vintage synth in your remix (such as a Korg M-1). Be creative and have fun experimenting! This is intended to be an official OC ReMix album. You'll be expected to deliver a remix that meets OverClocked ReMix's quality standards. Be prepared to continuously work on your remix until it meets that standard. Previously-released tracks are ineligible. Remixes that you have finished or almost finished but haven't put out there yet are fair game. What We Need ReMixers- Currently we have three tracks left that are up for grabs. If you want to claim a track send in those WIPS! . Talent evaluators. People who are up for helping me out with feedback delivery. One head isn't as good as... more than one head. OCR staff preferred. Visual artist. Preferably one that can stick around for the whole three years and do art for all three albums. Resources pu_freak can contribute piano bits. Orangedragan is a male baritone vocalist willing to collaborate. Damashii!! is down for "horn/brass hits, funk guitar and/or vocal one shots, and anything else in the field of funk 'garnish' or 'sprinkles' to add to your arrangements, if needed at all." Chenabogue is offering orchestra and drum programming. BrothaDom is offering backup and rap vocals. Lady Wildfire is able to contribute vocals to anyone who needs them. Claiming a Track Everyone who got back to me will be able to keep the track they claimed. Everyone else will have their tracks re-opened to the community. Anyone who wants to claim a track must submit a minute long WIP that showcases solid production skills and the general idea of your remix BEFORE you will be listed as having claimed the track. This is to ensure that the remixer who makes a claim has a genuine interest in making the source tune into a great remix!
