finished Mega Man giant super fun remix... and Schala
DaMonz replied to Gario's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
This is amazing. -
As of now I've played two hour of Skyward Sword. I don't know if my wiimote is glitched, but damn the controls feel messy. That and some of the character designs are really annoying me (seriously, the bully guy, wtf ). I hope dungeons are as good as people say, because the sky-high expectations I had after all those reviews are far from satisfied so far

My personal all-time favorite http://youtu.be/E2-r_UHotkc This track fills my brain with awesome.

Just throwing in the idea is a good first step EDIT: I just posted my track at KNGI

Happy Birthday! Here's a good occasion to say that I'm very grateful of your devotion as a judge! (And the other judges too btw ;D ) Thank you very much, and have lots of fun!

How do YOU guys get your source material?
DaMonz replied to PixelPanic's topic in General Discussion
I have to disagree with that. If you have the time to make music with MIDI, you therefore have the time to transcribe it yourself, it'll just take more time for as long as it takes for you to get used to it (and by the way I only mouse everything in, I don't use a keyboard ). I don't think anyone is "forced" to use MIDI, unless they must produce songs quickly. But hey this is your choice and I respect it -

Using a MIDI is out of the question for me. I think it's a lazy approach, and it also skips a big step of the arrangement process. Yes, you can alter the imported MIDI to add in your touch to the melodies, the chords, etc, but I'm 100% certain that you can't have as much original ideas when you do that than when you transcribe the song yourself. This might just be a personal opinion, but I believe transcribing is a very important step in the creative process of ReMixing a song. This is something you can practice! -
finished Dem Disjointed Chemicals *Chemical Plant*
DaMonz replied to SonicThHedgog's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Dude. Just saying that this is wayyyy better than the last thing I had heard from you! Congratulations on the awesome improvement, and keep it up! EDIT: I agree with AngelCityOutlaw though. Title is a bit weird. If this gets a conditional yes and the judges ask for a different name (which I think they would, because a ReMix isn't supposed to contain the original's title, according to submission standards), how about "Dem Disjointed Chemical Beatz"? -

I just noticed that my Crystalis claim still isn't on the list. Did you guys just forget, or is my WIP not significant enough for a claim yet? Just making sure

OC ReMix Acoustic Jam @ MAGFest X (Videos inside)
DaMonz replied to SuperBrother's topic in General Discussion
How did I miss this? D: And my melodica was ready for a jam the whole time! Oh well, next time I'll make sure I'm part of this ;D -
I very very much desire a spot on this! I'd love to make something for Last Battle (If SPEED and HONOR doesn't get it first, that is )

Welcome New Workshop Mods: Flexstyle, Gario, Rozovian!
DaMonz replied to djpretzel's topic in General Discussion
You guys have always been workshop mods to me, but now that it's official: congrats! -
I think listening to your own music is a great thing to do, especially when it's not finished or if you're trying to improve. Listening (for hours, on repeat) to a track I haven't finished is the best way I've found to get more ideas. And listening to my finished tracks is a good way to identify what I could have done to make it sound better (and it's also satisfying to hear the finished product of so many hours of work )

This is really cool! The atmosphere is awesome, and I really like most of your sounds! I agree with Rozo about the drums though. I think it sounds a bit too aggressive compared to the rest of the instruments. I also think that a more prominent leading melody could be an interesting idea. There's like this big open spot for a cool, relaxed solo most of the time (personally, I can easily hear either a cello, a violin or a synth lead having fun during this). Well, that's all the constructive comments that I can think of at the moment. I really like this though, and I can't wait to hear what's coming next! EDIT: the url made me laugh xD

1. I think OCR is one of VGM's greatest bastions (among the few communities that promote it in such a gratifying way), which is very inspiring for people who love this art, and who would like it to be more respected in general. Keep it up people, and the world might stop thinking VGM is bloops and bleeps! 2. I love arranging VGM. It provides me with a profound satisfaction that I cannot really explain. So I do my best at ReMixing music that I love, and I submit it in order to try and share this satisfaction with as many people as possible, so maybe it can inspire them just like other ReMixes inspired me (and keep inspiring me). Very interesting thread btw!

All right! - First off, I think some sort of skill level should be fixed, and be included in the panel's title, like "for beginners", "having a few basics is recommended" or such (and the content should be adapted accordingly). - I think showing many different DAWs is not such a good idea for a panel this short. I think it might be better to explore just one of them, so you'd have more time to introduce more concepts about remixing. Just talking about them a bit at the beginning is a great idea though. - I think explaining how to find a sound and how to customize it would be a great idea. A common problem among beginners is the use of generic synths, so showing what you can do to personalize them would be great. - This might be included in my last point, but showing how to layer drums (or other sounds) could be interesting. - Talking about a few specific common effects (reverb, delay, chorus, etc.) and talking about parameter automation might also be a good idea. I think this pretty much sums up what I had thought about. I think this panel is a great idea, so keep it up!

Well I was fooling around with Kun, just about everywhere actually. I guess we were unlucky? Or maybe I should have stayed around after the OCR panels instead of heading right back to my gamer magcraze xD But it was nice meeting you too! By the way, am I the only one who thought that jamspace was ridiculously chaotic? I had a cool jam though, and I wish I'd have played with some of you guys. Next year? Oh and I have a few suggestions for the OCR workshop panel. Should I start a new thread, or should I pm them to someone?
