They had a game system at my orthdontist's, one of those revolving ones with about 10 different games in it, and there was a competition among me and the other kids to see who could get it and hang on to it until their appointment time - you couldn't hover around it while you waited for whoever had it to get called back, and you couldn't be THAT d-bag who got up as soon as a name was called, on the off chance it was the kid who was currently playing. Anyway, long story short and back on topic, there would occasionally be some kid playing Aladdin, and even rarer a kid who wanted to play the Jurassic Park one... but 90% of the time, it was Star Fox. All Star Fox, all the time. And the days when I managed to snag it, when I got to play even for five minutes... those were great days.

Sucks about the lack of BackComp. I mean, PSCloud is nice and all, but unless they offer you a rebate on a free version of your PS3 games - i.e. type in your upc to unlock it on the network, or some such - that's not quite the same thing.

Didn't they have another one out, about two weeks ago, that used footage from one of the CoD:MW games? Could've sworn I saw that.

You're aware of her other vocal covers, correct? Personally, I'm just thrilled as all heck that Fishy got Kate to do the songs she's done for the album.

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
Melbu Frahma replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
Happened to me once or twice in the past. Fixed itself with time - I think my ISP was acting wonky both days if I recall correctly. -

+1. Seriously, give it to FF7 or FF9. -
Funny, I was just thinking the same thing.

I did it once and I'll never do it again
Melbu Frahma replied to Jax Mandrake's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I did, lol. I didn't even realize it was that big of an achievement until I looked at some forums - I thought the whole "you should really use a controller!" messages at the beginning of each load-up was some sort of joke on the part of the creators. -

Playing Super Meat Boy all the way through. I love the game, and looove the soundtrack, but I raged too, too, too too many times playing through it. Partially because my space bar didn't always accept input (I needed to replace my keyboard, bad) thus increasing my deaths by about 20%, but also just pure rage. -
Final Fantasy 6: Balance & Ruin ReMix Contest (v2) - RESULTS IN

I really, really, REALLY hope someone covers Mines of Narshe. Absolutely love the source tune. -
I'd actually been considering getting an X 720 or a PS4 when they come out, as a way to help introduce my wife further into the world of gaming. But if they have some sort of used game blocker, I'll just go buy a PS2, or a Wii, and buy the games for those systems. (Kinda tempted to just get her a Wii anyway - Mariokart and Smash Bros seem to be the kind of games she enjoys, anyway.) Re: Steam, I think for me the difference is permanence and convenience. Yeah, I may not be able to resell a game if I get bored of it, but I also know that my favorite games that I have on Steam will still run on whatever computer I have a dozen years from now, or two dozen (albeit with minor modifications, maybe, if they don't like that version of Windows or something like that). I don't know that my console will LAST twelve years, and I sure as heck don't know that there will be backward compatibility in the current gen console of that era to, say, my PS1, or the N64/SNES for that matter (which there obviously won't be). As long as Steam is up and running, I don't have any reason to fear about the playability of my games.

The Witcher 3 Announced! ...Formally!
Melbu Frahma replied to Garpocalypse's topic in General Discussion
Huh. I saw this on Memebase around lunchtime, but it didn't really register on me for some reason. Ohwells. Convenient link for those too lazy to go looking for further info. -
Seconding this. The book is just so rich, filled with so many little plot lines and little details that weave together so well. I think I was still finding new things and going, "Oh, wow," on my fourth read-through.

Just noticed in the track list, and gotta say... that's a frickin' genius title.

The PCReMix Initiative ~ Let's put the PC in OC ReMix!
Melbu Frahma replied to Archangel's topic in ReMix Requests
Last I checked, you just state what game - and track(s) from it - that you're intending to remix, and Archangel'll add it onto the list whenever he sees it. He's definitely not trying to mandate what games get remixed (beyond being pre-2000 PC games), if that's what you're asking. -

Oh hay there. Nice work! -
*quasi-bump* Came back in the thread to say that I recently got FTL on Steam, and (aside from being an all-around good game anyway) the music is really good. It's on the chippy-ish side, which kind of surprised me for a space game, but it made sense once I started playing. I feel like it does a good job of capturing the empty, lonely feel of running from a rebellion through sectors of space where it seems like EVERYONE wants to kill you. I could've sworn someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread, too.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shell Shocked - History

Daaaayum. That's excellent news! -
I just thought of another game. A few years back, a friend gifted me an access key to Fate: Undiscovered Realms, and I couldn't understand why - the game art looked geared for kids, the game summary sounded targeted at kids, and pets seemed to be an integral part of the gameplay, which (aside from one or two games) usually indicates to me a game is targeted at kids. But it was summer, I didn't have classes and I was unemployed, and I figured, what the hell, why not give it a chance? As it turned out, the combat wasn't too bad, the music wasn't awful, and the story wasn't all that impressive... but the weapon customization was addicting for me. I found myself agonizing for an hour or two over whether or not to make a slight alteration to a longsword. And the combat actually did get more difficult, the longer I went on - I actually found myself starting to get mildly challenged, after the first thirty or so levels. It's not a great game - I wouldn't give it more than a 7 1/2 out of 10, being generous - but it definitely wasn't the mindless kiddie game I thought it would be.

Oops! Guess I wasn't clear, I meant scrap the particular transition you used there. Definitely don't scrap the project. -

I like what you've done with the source tune; it was always a touch on the creepy side, and it feels like you've taken that creepy factor up several notches. The one thing that really caught my attention that you might look into is the transition at around 2:35 in; it didn't feel... clean, I guess is the best word I can find for it. I think that's partially due to the suddenness of it, but there's something else to it that I can't quite put my finger on. I'm not saying it's wrong or that you need to scrap it, but it definitely snapped me clean out of the song for a few moments when I first listened through, so it's something that bears consideration. I'm excited for the next version of this, though, for sure. You've got an interesting take on it, and I can't wait to hear more.
