As a journalist, I should be slightly offended by that. But I'm also a realist, so I'm not. EDIT: Loved the sample, btw - especially the RYB theme, and the second bit. And the next to last one, too.

!!!! CRAP! I hadn't even noticed there WAS a preview! *runs off to listen to it*

Donkey Kong Country 3: Double the Trouble! - History
Melbu Frahma replied to Emunator's topic in Projects
Seconded, although I think I liked Diggi Dis's better (not by much though). Great work, musicians! -
OCR02023 - Final Fantasy VIII "Shine Tonight"
Melbu Frahma replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
They're far from atrocious. You want to hear atrocious, you should hear me sing. Btw, the remix was pretty sweet too. -
So is Paris Hilton, though. O_o Or at least she used to be.

*shivers with bad memories* Seriously, though. I have to agree with Salluz - his music is too commercial, too let's-feed-the-masses-another-bland-donebefore-piece-of-crap-just-because-we-know-it'll-sell-copies for my liking.

I'm up for it. Then again, the mystery of what the teenage girl finds attractive/sexy (and more importantly, WHY) has stupefied me for a decade and a half. So, yeah.

finished For Your Protection - Industrial

It's quite good. I can almost picture RoboCop standing to my right, and the Terminator (the human-friendly one) to my left, ready to kick ass. -
Tower of Heaven - Indignant Divinity
Melbu Frahma replied to IrateResearchers's topic in ReMix Requests
Wow. Never played the game or heard the music before, but I've got to say, listening to it for the first time here, I'm loving it. I could definitely stand to hear this remixed. -
As a major fan of killing off large amounts of main characters in action movies - I think it's done far, far too rarely - I definitely had to give Avatar props for this, even though I could tell who was going to die and who wasn't a long ways in advance. The only exception was Norm; I was surprised as all hell that he didn't die. Out of curiosity, was I the only one who got annoyed at the complete and utter waste of Trudy and her chopper in the last battle? Wtf was she doing flying around where she was? Tactically, she should've been assigned to destroy the shuttle.

OCR01174 - Final Fantasy "AfterLife"

Just listened to this for the first time a day or two ago, exceedingly impressed with the quality and feeling in it. Definitely a treasure, worth listening to. -
wip You Are Never Alone [You're Not Alone, FFIX]
Melbu Frahma replied to DragnBreth's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I'm really loving this take on one of my favorite pieces of VG music, Dragn. The only criticism I can really give is to echo what some of the other OCR members have already said and to point out the sound of the solo brass doesn't sound right, as well as some of the strings. Definitely can't wait to hear this in its finished version! -
Official OCR-Tan Game Thread! Signs of a Possible Revival?

I can do Schalasaurus. One question before I do: What general look of Saurus will Schalasaurus be? T-Rex? Stegosaurus? Triceratops? Brontosaurus? Pteradon? Velociraptor? Let me know and I'll come up with attacks for it. -
Oh, don't get me wrong, Zidane's Theme is a great piece of music. But for my personal experience of the storytelling, it just didn't fit as well as You're Not Alone! did for me. But I definitely respect your right to differ. I mean, hell, that's one of the great things about a soundtrack like FF9's - there's so much to love! I can't wait till both are done. Yeah, that's pretty darn exciting, too.
-
Mmm, see, I suppose what's happened with me was that I spent such a small amount of time in the scenes in the game that had Zidane's Theme that it's hard for me to place it as such when I hear it out of context. Like, if I was just sitting on a bus and I hear Terra play, or even Tidus' Theme, I could snap my fingers and place it instantly. But Zidane's Theme... for some reason, even though I can always place it as FF9, and kinda think of the scene in which I hear it played, I couldn't attribute it as being Zidane's. I dunno. I suppose part of my problem, too, is that in the back of my mind I've always thought of "You're Not Alone!" as being a truer theme for Zidane than the happy, boisterous one the soundtrack attributes to him, just because it seems to fit his story and personality so much better to me.
-
Although, I have to admit, Zidane's Theme is actually the least memorable main character's theme of a Final Fantasy game that I can think of, at least to me. But you're probably right, it probably needs to be done. But of course, that'll depend upon the available manpower, interest, and skills available. Honestly, I'm just grateful that there are as many talented and interested remixers giving love to this soundtrack, and that Fishy's stepping up and running the project; it's something I've been hoping to see happen ever since I first visited OCRemix in '08, and didn't really think WOULD happen, so the fact that the project exists and is in progress is enough for me.

And upon the quality of the pornographic film, too? -
Oh. Jeebus, lmao, I really did a crappy job of reading the last ten pages. X-D Thanks. Glad I could help contribute.
-
O_o *goes and looks* ... You are so much more right than I thought you were, lol. Awesome.
-
Bletch. That's what I get for too quickly scanning the thread, lol - I thought that was the name for the weapon the boss used, and "Effect" was the special effect the boss had. X-D (Scratch what I said about Mantis.) Okay, let me redeem myself with better ideas. Hmm. Well, what if Subtle Tribute causes all visible opponents to do a little damage to themselves? Or to turn their backs to Tan for a small amount of time? I suppose it could also be used to increase the power of your allies. Lawless Hyena's weapon could be Renegade Riff or Criminal SomethingVeryClever. Idler Mantis could have the Auto-tune SomethingAlsoClever. I can't think of anything for Badger though. :-/ And yes, the thought had crossed my mind regarding Jesse Belmont.
-
Seconded wholeheartedly.
-
Mkay, let's see what suggestions I can contribute. Skyscraper Boss ideas: Ice CapTain Terrar Overworld King (take your pick of which game's overworld, although I was thinking Super Mario Bros. since it's been done a lot) Vampire Hunter (Castlevania pun, and a really bad one at that) Stage ideas: Community -> Suburbs/Strip mall Music Comp and Production -> Factory ??? (Maybe one of the workshop sections?) -> Stadium ??? -> Airport ??? -> City Dump ??? -> City Reservoir Also, as far as mavericks, maybe Idler Mantis's effect is to freeze time for you - like a far worse version of Queue Tortoise. You could have Plagiarizing Platypus's Subtle Tribute effect mirror your actions.

Happy birthday to an awesome musician.

I hate you so much right now. A large part of my disc 4 is messed up, thanks to the idiot I got it from. I'm not able to play the card game after disc 3, or go to certain areas of the world, and 7 out of 8 times the final battle with Kuja freezes up. And the final video is choppy and has no sound.
