  1. Thank you for verifying your OC Remix forum account binki! EDIT: Seriously though, if binki is a real person and not an alt account, I wonder how insulted he feels right about now?
  2. ok, when it comes to mic positions, you have to remember that the mic picks up audio a lot better when it's closer to the sound source (voice, analog synth, cello, random trash can lid) than when it's further. However, you want to avoid clipping at the same time. As for DAWs, you will want to look for a DAW with a decent free-trial mode and/or a low msrp when the trial mode ends. I never did like FL, mainly because you can't load a saved project file. I don't know about Reaper. I use Mixcraft, which has no track limits. I know some DAWs do, especially Ableton Live Lite. Mixcraft has a 14 day trial. Once the trial ends, you can't save to mp3 or another audio codec, but there are workarounds for this. However, it has a relatively low pricetag ~$75. Is your friend's mic a USB mic or do you have an audio interface for a microphone jack?
  3. welcome to the OCR forums! While it is true there are a lot of electronic musicians around, there's always a need for more organic instruments like your cello. See you around!
  4. I probably know the answer to this, but is DJP the only webmaster for OCR?
  5. I know. It's a bit ridiculous why they get upset. It's like they think that because it's the internet, it should be free. Even hard work like music should be free (no!). This is a good way to give creative people funds as a reward. Oh, Chthonic, I've already done flattred you lol. So unless I find more stuff to flattr, you'll get like, 2 euros or something
  6. I actually came across Flattr today- through soundcloud, by chance. huh. When I first saw it, without clicking on the link I was thinking "Tumblr spin-off". Out of curiosity, I clicked on the link. As it turns out, Flattr is some kind of "social microdonation" system. Kind of like "facebook likes", but there's some kind of counting system. From what I understand, Flattr counts up all of your Flattr button clicks, then at the end of each month, it divides up your donation allowance you gave your account (which is about 5 euros or something), and gives an equal amount to each Flattr source you clicked on. I think it's kind of cool, having a way to support the things you like (including musicians) in a small way that can build up over time, and isn't as obtrusive as something like adf.ly What it's NOT: one of those URL shorteners I guess what I'm trying to say is check Flattr out and tell me what your opinion is on this EDIT: OCR need a Flattr button. I would totally click that

  8. so, are we shooting for a Christmas 2012 release date now?
  9. no, I am! Yeah, you have to hack into Emunator's account and make a post on his behalf with bad grammar.
  10. Kind of like an extended metaphor... An extended troll session
  11. I need to get this framed. This is great advice! Thanks!
  12. or any song from this guy. I don't think this applies to your brass VST. (in this case, "brass" refers to a slightly detuned, slightly filtered saw waveform)
  13. well, technically, I still have an hour left before the deadline ends The hardest part as of now is formulating the eurobeat brass lead. I should probably just forgo this and work on the part of the mix that actually involves the source (I'm looking at Yoshi Desert). But I do have a little bit of the opening done, here. A very sad WIP I know, but sadly I only got the idea to do this remix today.
  14. Unless of course your home theater equipment is built of flat-response equipment and/or custom-tailored to counteract the natural resonance of whatever room it's installed in, but that's very unlikely. now as to what the article says, it's true, the Pendulum bass is very (VERY) inorganic and surgical, but it's also somewhat trademark in the way they do it (frequency-sculpting-wise). I read through this and I realize it doesn't say what I'm trying to say, but I can't figure out how to say it. Whatever.
  15. the hard part is figuring out what that way wrong something is.
  16. Ugh, the grammar nazi inside me is screaming because of that thread title. When it comes to asking for help I feel like an illiterate n00b. anyway... Does anyone know how to make eurobeat? I'm almost specifically referencing this guy with my idea of what eurobeat is: http://odysseymusic.bandcamp.com http://www.youtube.com/user/odysseyEurobeat does anyone have any tips/tricks to go with this as well?
  17. what's sad is that there is more detail in that little fish then there is on the figure that caught it
  18. For some reason I want to do a Eurobeat track, but I don't know how to do Eurobeat, particularly the lead brass synth thing
  19. I've noticed that the most current "official" OC Remix albums are not shown within the four album cover thumbnails located within the music tab. I was just wondering if this had just been overlooked or if it is intentional thanks
  20. relax, sometimes this thread goes on a 1+ month hiatus. It's all happened before. Basically, it means there is no real interesting [new!] news worth sharing.
  21. The "Projects" subforum is usually reserved for OCR-approved projects. Usually you start a project in "recruit and collaborate" for obvious reasons, then as the project moves along, ask a forum moderator (Darkesword or other) to move the thread for you.
  22. oh god... dat tag Currently listening to Zedd ft. Matthew Koma - Spectrum (Odyssey's Prism Mix) on endless repeat. Glorious EDM + Eurobeat integration (Of course the original is and just as good, minus Eurobeat goodness.) You heard that one too? Oh, man. That's an awesome mix. Once again I am hyped for Skrillex's stuff, hope there's some new music coming soon from Sonny.
