  1. I haz my very first WIP for this project up in the workshop forums. http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?p=878474#post878474
  2. So, they thought I was cool enough to take on "Cross A Fear" for Vampire Variations 2. I finally have a WIP that I think is going somewhere. I was always inspired by the rock albums of Castlevania music in the 90s, so I did take inspiration from that. For the finished track, I hope to have live bass and get the track mixed/mastered by someone who has the right equipment and experience to do so. So if you wind up believing in this remix, perhaps you would be interested? Anyway, the original - My version thus far....http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/face-the-fear-cross-a-fear
  3. I find it hilarious that 9/10 of the people in popular music blatantly stealing from good music, often outside the mainstream, are terrible rappers. Vanilla Ice blatantly stole from Queen MC Hammer blatantly stole from Rick James Wiz Kahlifa stole from Chrono Trigger's soundtrack Tone Loc stole the guitar riff from "Jamie's Cryin'" What pisses me off the most is how such douchebags call it "sampling".
  4. I have nothing to really contribute to this thread anymore except to say that song is badass.
  5. First off, rock and metal kinds of music heavily rely on live performances. In fact, I would say that it is probably the most important element of the genre. You are using VST plugins which will take a considerable amount of effort to make them sound real. They will probably get you 80% of the way there at the absolute best. I'm far from an expert with mixing, but when your bass guitar is overwhelmed by the rhythm, that's almost always because your rhythm guitars are too loud in the same bass frequencies. I always find this to be a real bitch when the song has low-tuned guitars. Basically, find where the bass guitar and rhythms are peaking, and cut some of the overlapping frequencies in the guitar.
  6. So, I was just rockin to some Twisted Sister and I thought it would be sweet to get some vocals, real bass and possibly live drums (or just better samples) too. I'd also prefer it was mixed and mastered by someone who knows what they're doing on that end. If anyone is up for it let me know and show me some tracks, then I'll go ahead and record the final guitar part (the solo!) and maybe we can make a polished track that would make the band proud. Here's the original. The song is "Love is for suckers" and my version so far, which is a half step up from the original. http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/love-is-for-suckers-demo-2 EDIT: Oh yeah, I can supply MIDI and Sheet Music too
  7. Been studying music and trying to improve guitar skills for about eight years I guess. When I was in elementary school, music was a mandatory class so we all took some guitar lessons. Learning basic chords and such. I never really cared about music when I was that tall so I retained next to nothing. Then I got an electric when I was 11-13 years old and stuck with it. In 2010, when I was 18, I discovered this "DAW" thing, "virtual instruments" and a whole pile of other technology I never even knew existed or was possible with music. Looking back, trying to learn on my own was sort of a bad idea. That's part of the reason why I've decided to take music courses at the college next year. Hopefully it will help me suck less.
  8. Said it before, will say it a thousand more times: "No matter how good or bad you think you are with music, there is always someone out there who is no more than half as good as you, making no less than twice as much money at it. Therefore, you have no excuse not to try." Indeed
  9. A sort of electronic/rock song I've just been screwing around with. http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/some-kind-of-electronic-thing As always, don't expect any amazing production. EDIT: Well, I removed it from soundcloud. I've finally figured out why my guitar tracks with FL Studio always seem slightly out of time. I guess my computer just can't handle monitoring what I play in real time as I record, but if I shut that off, it works just fine. ....Hey, I'm still a noob with all this recording stuff.
  10. Good that he's back in the USA. ....but it ain't over.
  11. I love to compose music. So it definitely doesn't scare me. Now, when it comes to all this mixing and production stuff....yeah that scares the shit out of me because I know I suck at it. Though I recently decided to switch the courses I'll be taking in University next year to music composition, production and all that jazz so maybe there will come a day where I don't totally suck at mixing....fingers crossed.
  12. Well, I really did enjoy the game's atmosphere and I love the fact that they didn't totally rely on the bullshit volume jumps and gore that modern horror has become. For me it just came down to the realization that I could see the monster coming, hoof it around a few corners and crouch down in the darkness. After the music stopped, I went on my way and the monster was never to be seen again. I don't think I even bumped into the same monster twice and I somehow managed to evade the monster in the infamous storage room entirely. I am excited to see what the sequel will bring to the table though.
  13. Thanks Bonkers! Yeah, it's obvious I didn't spend a ton of time on this one. Who knows, perhaps I will flesh it out into something that is distinctly my own and truly badass in near future?
  14. Yeah. I love Castlevania and it's music so I'll definitely see if they think I don't suck too much and could maybe contribute an arrangement.
  15. I am DEFINITELY down for Cross A Fear! Here are some things you can check it out to see if you think I'm cool enough. http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/castlevania-prologue http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/serenity-demo http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/memory-lane http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/stalking-wolves http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/mak-eightman-criss-stratos
  16. Think there is already a thread on this game. Regardless, I didn't find it all that scary after you encounter the monsters a couple of times. Great game, but very over-rated.
  17. Basically, me just screwing around. http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/castlevania-prologue
  18. For some reason, whenever I record with FL studio, my guitars seems slightly out of time. Like in this version. I just tried playing all of this again with Audacity and it works perfect...why?
  19. You'll be disappointed though. http://soundcloud.com/angelcityoutlaw/spider-man That's as good as it gets from me.
  20. *facepalm* SHIT. I was wondering why everything was so messed on the lead guitars. I bought new guitar recording gear just last week and I'm still learning how to use it. let me fix this and I shall re upload.
  21. I've often said that even if I could, I doubt I would be able to make music a full time job because I always find myself having to take breaks (often several days) from it to get my inspiration back or else I wind up hating music. What do you do (aside from something like work) to escape from music for awhile? Do you lose the drive to compose/play/perform often? Where do you look for inspiration and motivation? Or do you ever lose interest in it at all?
  22. Well, I'm not Hans Zimmer yet lol
