  1. Right, I'm done. If don't stop now I'll never stop tweaking things here and there. This is the first mix in which I've used two different sources. I was tearing my hair out trying to get the arrangement down . When it came to the picks I reckon Knight Man should of been further down my list. Either way, I really enjoyed that. Really looking forward to hearing everyone else's mixes.
  2. Cheers for that Rexy, Muchly appreciated. I'll do as you say and check out the previous comps
  3. I've read the opening post, but I just want to make sure about the submission. I understand how we need to name the file, but I'm assuming that we do not insert an IDtag? Also does bit-rate matter?
  4. I thoroughly enjoyed that. The quality of the video and your performance is just brilliant
  5. Actually in love with this track. I want to marry it and all its glam. Yeah... I think I'll elope to Vegas with it !m!
  6. I have to agree. I love the style and the production. The first time I ever heard it, it made me grin so much. Hat definitely stole the show haha. Brandon's track is another one that made me smile. The samples from Vampire's Kiss make it epic. Bah, I might just do a review of the album. There are too many tracks that I like
  7. Dubstep is certainly all the rage and I'm not gonna lie, I've been so put off the genre by thinking its just "wub wub" that I haven't given it a proper chance. Having taken DarkSim's advice, I really hate to say this.......but if this is Dubstep.....I need to get me some more!
  8. But in all seriousness, a triangle break > BAM - timapani rockout!
  9. Thank you, enjoy the rest of the album :D

  10. Haha, cheers dude. Means a lot. It seemed at the time like the revisions were never ending but I think it was worth the headache :)

  11. So, I'm going to put this as finished......for the moment at least. Theres mostly mixing changes. Theres now bass guitar to give the mix a more solid foundation. The guitars have been brought forward even more as have the drums. With regard to the guitar, the tone is as good as I can achive with my current setup. I've invested in some new equipment, but until that arrives I can't change anything. More than that though, I'm happy with it. I like the tone, even if it is a little bit weedy. Remix: Link Removed Feedback welcome and always appreciated. Edit: Noticed that the guitar tuning is a little out so I'll fix that.....at some point
  12. Love your VV track :D

  13. Well, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one hehe. I'm gonna let my brain absorb the source music for a day or so before starting I think. Maybe it'll be good to me this week.....I can but hope !
  14. The guitar is recorded using an NT1a on a 30watt marshall solid-state amp. No pedals. No amp sim. used in the latest version. I rolled off the top-end with some EQ as it was just to harsh. I'll give it a bash with less chorus and different EQ. I've found it difficult balancing the synths with the guitar as the mix is more synth heavy. I'll experiment with some more pads. There is room but I dunno, I'm afraid of over filling the mix
  15. I will be doing the first round (and my god do I have the jitters!!!)
  16. So....I finally finished the actual arrangement. Having that incomplete was annoying me more than anything else with this mix. Basically what's new: Drums (Rock style) Recorded Guitar - Previous version has live guitar but its DI with an AMP sim. A new synth sound to add a bit more sparkle Grit added to some of the other synths to make the guitar fit better This isn't final production-wise but should give a good impression. Remix: Link removed
  17. Haha, not at all. Its good feedback. Its sounding like samples partly due to the performance and in part due to the production I reckon. Thank you
  18. Thanks for the feedback Bahamut Sequencing drums are just my ultimate enemy. Sometimes I think I'm actually regressing in ability when it comes to drums. Once I've finished the arrangement I'll come back to tweaking some of the background synths. I think I'm going to have to re-record the guitars. Its not good that my playing is getting mistaken for samples
  19. Haha, it must be the FM synths that are emanating that 80's vibe I'll get the Hi-hat sorted and whack up some reverb on the snare. I'll keep the snare as it is, but perhaps fiddle with the parameters a bit or EQ to get some more body to it. Cheers bud
  20. Basically this is a track I started a few weeks ago and have yet to finish. Perhaps I'm just needing some inspiration or encouragement to finish it. I dunno, either way I overhauled this last night. Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxcVk6ygHVE Remix: Link Removed (Soundcloud link if you don't want to download: Link removed) Check latest post I had feedback that the samples sounded low-quality and that the beat needed to be altered. I have acted upon that feedback and hopefully this sounds better. All the synths are Zebra 2 and custom patches apart from the drums. Some patches I modelled on other synths I like and some are my own original creation. As far as structure goes, I've mixed that up a little bit. I've yet to add the crazy solo section. Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated.
  21. This is brilliant! Would you mind doin one for me Rexy? Or will you be doing them for anyone anyway? If you are I can't help but think our team should be yellow, though will have to double check with the team mates
  22. Its sounding good. A nice feel and atmosphere. With some different vocals it will really improve things, it still sounds really good with the originals. As far as the structure goes, I do feel that some fat could be trimmed. The song flows beautifully but the instrumental break at 2:28 I'm not sure of. The sax solo later makes it feel a bit redundant but i don't know....I'm unsure of it. With it being a song/vocal track it feels a little unbalanced (structurally) with the breaks. The end section from around 5:00 mins could do with more interest and/or shortening. I'm sure that you will be developing this section anyway as it is a WIP but it feels to me like there needs to be either a key change or a more prominent/energetic counter melody to the lead. Having said all of that, though, the fusion of all the different sources is really well done. Perhaps its not so much that the earlier instrumental sections need to be trimmed, I understand that they are from different sources, but perhaps if interjected later could counter the last section from 5:00 onwards and give more interest. All in all, I really like it and it is clearly going to be an epic when finished. What I will say is, that despire my above comments, if you're happy with the structure keep it as it is
  23. Yeah, sorry for not keeping in contact. Do not worry, for I will have an offering for you come the 30th
  24. Could you put me and Cyril the Wolf down as part of a team. Still looking for at least one more, so PM away. Edit: We now have a three man team. Obtuse will be joining us
