  1. Many thanks guys and a Happy Birthday to Phonetic Hero <3 and ALSO to Gollagh, (sorry for stealing your thunder). This thread was a very pleasant suprise
  2. I'm glad you enjoyed it and yeah, you nailed what needs to be fixed/improved. I'll probably leave this as is. I could extend it but..dunno. Its good to move on to something else. I like to apply what I've learnt from a completed song rather than revising an existing one (not always though). With the solo, I just said to Cyril "here ya go, do a solo" I wanted it to be crazy so I was happy with that haha I would have loved to have had more time to extend it and polish, but who knows how long it would have taken me Its not your speakers by the way, it is quieter than the others. The production was a mad rush so it suffered some what. I didn't want to lose the clarity that is there (needs more EQ/Compression etc.) by making it loud. Thanks for the feedback. Its always really appreciated as it helps me improve little by little. One day, I'll have KILLER. STUDIO. CHOPS! (Sorry, I couldn't resist)
  3. Cheers for the reply I'll do a WIP then and throw over a couple of completed tracks. I'll whack Will with a shovel if I don't hear from him.
  4. I PM'd Will about claiming the Mega Man series. Haven't heard back, but with regard to auditions do you want a WIP of the claim or will another completed track of mine suffice for a claim?
  5. Haha, I'm sorry I disapointed you with a mere 2 minutes. It was a choice between higher quality and short or longer and naff quality. After hearing all the other mixes this round, I'm glad I did that
  6. I really enjoyed this. Less cheese, but still enough to add great flavour. You got the themes to work so well. I'm glad to see that you're going to give it some more polish (even though it sounds fantastic as is).
  7. Oh wow, thanks. Means a lot It was so rushed on the final day, but I'm still happy with it. I wanted to go out with a bang and Cyril made my New Year when he came through with that ending face-melter of a solo.
  8. Yeah, I have to agree and say that everyone seemed to step it up a notch this week. A fair few chilled tracks too which was great.
  9. Count me in! This should encourage me to finish the tyrian mixes I've started/planned. List me up to do a mix of "Gyges, will you help me please". I may mix it with another source, but I'm definitely gonna do that.
  10. Well, mix is in. Managed to get it submitted with a whole 3 minutes to spare, so happy days haha. You guys can look forward to a collab between me and Cyril, he came through like a superman 40mins before the deadline <3
  11. Oo yeah, completely forgot you'd be one of the first to enter 2012 down there. Happy New Year to the future
  12. Well......my mix will hopefully be a respectable entry for the final round. I had nearly no inspiration at the beginning of this week but I've cobbled something together, steadily. Its short, but meh......should of spent more time on it. It may feature Cyril........I really hope it can but at the moment it looks like its just gonna be lil' ole me.
  13. It's a shame you let it get you down Rexy as it really shouldn't. Its inevitable that with OCR as it is (a community), people are fans/friends of certain remixers and so will always have a weakness for things they do. Hell, theres so many remixers in this competition that I myself like. I never thought I'd be in a competition with them. Your latest mix was god damn fantastic and at times, cheeky. Your tracks probably get a lot more attention than you may think. Lurkers that don't vote will be checking your stuff out and probably be enjoying it. Not having votes does not always reflect on the quality of your music. Throughout this thread people have openly said they don't like 80's stuff, or rock or dub etc. so that immediately discounts them voting for that person unless they are choosing to be unbiased. I'm chuffed if I get one third place vote coz hell, I have a lot to learn and hardly anyone knows me, but its good fun (if unbelieveably difficult at times). Its understandable that it can get you down when you pour your heart and soul into a piece of music but try to push on. I reckon there would be a fair few listeners who would miss your participation in a future event. So my point? I dunno, just enjoy it. Perhaps try to only please yourself. Tick your own boxes as so to speak. There have been quite a few gems in this competition that really deserved more praise than they received.
  14. Happy birthday bud. Hope you're havin' a good one =)

  15. It looks as though I'll be going for the team this week.....
  16. Man, you and Bahamut really did a massive amount of reviews. Good job I suppose we better stay on guard though, as you just never know......
  17. Just added 5 reviews to my post. Overkill FTW! Edit: I will also add that one of the reviews is of OA's mixes
  18. So much dirt, grit and awesome. Sixto's version is fantastic but this is just as amazing. I can't decide between them, but if you want more of a filthy slant then this is the mix you wanna download. This mix is raw and it definitely seems to turn some people off, but the mix of rock and drum n' bass is perfection. Really well done and defintiely worthy of being the title screen music of SF2HD. I assume this is because of the track being used for the game, but what's with the ending?! Feels a little bit abrupt. Still, amazing track. Download
  19. When I first joined OCR this was the album that had just been released. Being HUGE Sonic fan I was in luck. This was one of the first mixes I checked out on OCR and boy am I glad I did. A really nice, light and bright rock version of a classic theme that will have each Sonic fan screaming "YES! This is amazing". A solid arrangement that entwines the original and some great solo work.
  20. The Sonic games get a fair amount of attention from remixes, but this......this is just how amazing everyone wants them to sound. The arrangement, production and performances are just fantastic. The style fits like a glove to the source. Once you hear the Boss theme like this you'll never go back to the originals. Basically prepare to rock and get your face melted.
  21. You can't help but grin when you hear this. So much passion and life in this. Fun doesn't even fully describe how much enjoyment listener's will get from this. The playing/sequencing is flawless and bring some average samples to life. Superb writing and sequencing make this cheeky number unforgettable. Download it now as its just amazing.
  22. This mix sticks fairly close to the source and manages to do great justice to the source. So much energy and life in this track. Dr. Manhattan brings somes some rockin' fun to great soundtrack. Humour, energy and drama are all here. The arrangement is really well put together and the performance is top notch. Fans will adore this and those unfamiliar with the source will have great difficulty not wanting to check the game out after hearing this.
  23. Ah man, this is sooo tempting. I love playing guitar in my tracks, but being able to get the entire lot for $99 is near irresistable. Hmm, you don't like to make my life easy do you Zircon The bass does sound fantastic.
  24. Fantastic. It's great to see another enjoyable Genesis soundtrack get some love. The lead work is beautiful and tight. It carries the arrangement on nicely. A really nice balance between the synths and guitars is achieved here. The build to then end is gradual and well done. It feels so short....but that is really down to me just enjoying it so much. In terms of production, its sounds so clean, clear and crisp. An all round enjoyable and polished track. No complaints from me, Rock 'n Roll 80's style
