  1. I get the impression sometimes that all it would take to kill of the PC gaming market would be a keyboard and mouse peripheral for each console.
  2. Games ------------------------- Hotel Dusk Room 215 Zelda Phantom Hourglass Final Fantasy VI Advance DVD's -------------------------- The Sopranos Season 5 Battlestar Galactica Season 2.5 The Bourne Ultimatum Books -------------------------- The Brothers Karamozov The Litany of the Long Sun The Urth of the New Sun Other stuff ------------------------ Attache Case 3 Coheed and Cambria CD's New pair of Ray-bans A promise to get a black suit soon Can't wait to walk around my college campus in a black suit, with the sunglasses and attache case.
  3. A list of video games, books, and CD's plus a surprise of some sort. Probably the last Christmas where I'll tell my parents exactly what to get me, I should have a job to cover that next year).
  4. For anyone who has gotten to stage 9, is it just me or is the dash move that the first mid-boss or whatever you fight in the stage does unavoidable?
  5. I'm able to make it to stage 7 on normal (haven't touched easy at all and don't plan to), and I keep getting screwed by dying and having only the pea-shooter. Perhaps I will make it to stage 8 tomorrow....
  6. My roommate seems to have chosen to ignore all the other songs in lieu of beating Through the Fire and the Flames...on Medium. Or at least, something better than his current 85%. I made him put on his headphones. Damn, its my favorite Dragon Force song but I don't like hearing it 10 times in a row.
  7. I've always been under the impression that if you work at a place like Microsoft, the pressure can be really fucking on. Programmers have release dates and deadlines. While it isn't an every week thing, projects can be large enough where hitting the deadline can be scary with 80 hour work weeks. The only justifiable reason I see you can defend writers getting special royalties is that writing is a hit or miss thing where you either make crap, or copious amounts of cash off a show. Some (not you Nicholas) have defended music and writing deserving of special compensation due to their "artistic" nature. Well, I personally see programming and all engineering as creative acts, and the reason I'm a programmer is because I believe it is an art form. From that standpoint, the artistic nature of writing doesn't make it more worthy of royalties than other jobs without reasons, cause what may seem mundane to you, might be a creative act to me.
  8. I don't really get this logic. I worked for a year as a programmer and to me it would be crazy to expect the company to pay, despite the fact that they currently are and will be using my code for a very long time as they see fit, me in perpetuity for that code. Why are writers of TV scripts more deserving of this sort of royalties than any other creative job? Guys who work for companies and make patentable ideas usually only get a $1 for it.
  9. Most of these shows weren't exactly what I would call timeless. Let's just let the kids enjoy their derth of entertainment geared towards their generation and culture. I mean, making your kids watch old cartoons is no different from being an English teacher who thinks the only books worth reading are "the Classics." To be sure, some of the old TV shows you saw as a kid are worth watching, but they aren't really inherently superior just because they are old.
  10. That sounds like a completely logical reason not to buy something to me.
  11. I preordered the thing and played through the first case, but I haven't had time to play it anymore. My punishment for taking graduate level courses while still being an undergrad.
  12. I can see how the guy who invented video games 35 years ago would be completely out of touch with what people these days like to play. He's probably mouthing off to promote his restaurant anyhow.
  13. I personally hope for a future where each different game requires a different console.
  14. The songs on the frontpage all sound fine to me. Therefore, I will sing praises to the judges.
  15. Alundra is possibly one of the most depressing video games I've ever seen plotwise. So many deaths its almost a greek tragedy.
  16. Well, there's a bajillion stores that sell non-digital music. Is there anything inherently wrong with a bunch that sell digital music?
  17. Don't preorder games. It's not a fucking restaraunt. Before BioShock came out I heard the jerks at Gamestop say after a roommate of mine tried to reserve a copy and they were all reserved up "Oh man he won't be able to get a copy. I've been tellin' everybody to preorder." So, he went to Best Buy and just bought it like a normal thing release day. Gotta love those wizened sages at Gamestop. On a more useful note, other my roommate is currently driving to a 24-hour Super Wal-Mart in order to find Halo 3. We figure that everybody will be too busy fighting each other at GameStop to think to just go to a normal store. He also bought 12 liters of Game Fuel, as a joke to make it a full Halo experience. I'll be asleep by then myself.
  18. I'm like Delita Hyral from FF Tactics. I'm bitter and my methods are questionable, but I'm out to make the world a better place in the end.
  19. I've been reading WoT since I was 10 (now 22), and of course like many others I've really sad to see that WoT will now probably never get the exact conclusion it deserves. I've stuck by it as my favorite thing ever written since I first picked it up. I'm not sure how I feel about someone else finishing the series, I feel that whatever comes out will suffice but will most certainly not be as good as what Jordan himself could have done (of course). I'm also sad that he never got to finish a series whose ending he has known about for 20 years. I can only imagine how cosmically frustrating that could be. Not to mention not getting a chance at the Infinity of Heaven series he had planned to start on after WoT was said and done.
  20. WAV's are much appreciated. Voices of the Lifestream will be one more group of songs I can have as OGG (through WAV encoding). The music is also good too, haha.
  21. My roomie got Bioshock and I watched him play it a bit. Is it just me or do the Vita Chambers totally destroy the tension of the bossfights and game?
  22. I name my stuff after RPG airships. Main computer is Epoch, Laptop is Little Jack, my server is Sky Runner, and work machine is Highwind.
  23. I really want to play this and I am super glad my roommate is getting it for Xbox 360 so I will be actually able to play it. My computer isn't up to snuff and it would've been really hard to play it a lot on his PC.
  24. How would one achieve this? I thought the games and the show were the only source of the sounds that the Pokemon make.
