  1. While I don't care to own a Dell laptop or have a computer installed with Ubuntu, perhaps more people will jump on this. Linux really could use better laptop hardware support, particularly in the wireless area. It doesn't help that the kernel guys keep rewriting the wireless stack....
  2. Seems like everyone's already covered the great romantic songs with pixietricks singing. Here's one I didn't see suggested (not a pixietricks song): http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR00191/
  3. I would've just lied, and said I forgot to cut my phone off or something.
  4. I honestly believed people wouldn't be dumb enough to blame ALL asians over the Virginia Tech massacre and would just see him as the lone crazy that he was. But humanity never fails to disappoint. I believe the kid in this story was asian as well (so say the people on Slashdot). http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-070425essay,1,696682.story?coll=chi-news-hed&ctrack=2&cset=true
  5. I find the idea of what they did funny more than offensive. I eagerly await to see what Sony does to promote any video games involving Jesus as a main character.
  6. Why not blow up statues of Mario with a rocket launcher? Now that would be cool.
  7. When were cartoons NOT mainstream? Were there a bunch of elitist small children at some point????
  8. Oh yeah. I am totally impressed by the PS3's hardware and will be doing some research at my university next semester using our Playstation 3 cluster. It's just his attitude about wanting people to work harder to be able to afford PS3's and telling people to fuck off in regards to button placement that makes me angry. Technically, he's up to spec. But he's still an asshole.
  9. Some people want their hardware to live up to people's expectations. Mr. Kutaragi wanted us all to live up to his hardware.
  10. I have a friend studying abroad in Japan right now who is going to be bringing back a Japanese PS2 Last Blade Collection, Guilty Gear XX Slash, and Melty Blood Act Cadenza. And since he's going to be my roomie next semester I'll reap all the benefits. Mwahahahahaha. Seriously though. Melty Blood kicks ass.
  11. Said about what? Games haven't been made a big deal in the shooting. Why bring them in? Anybody want to organize a protest against the VA tech shooting for chess fans? It'd make as much sense. I think it's kind of stupid to protest against something anyways that almost everyone with the exception of total nut jobs accepts as bad. If this were like Columbine and everyone was screaming "DOOOOOOM!!! It's Doom's fault!!!" I could see it. Otherwise it's much ado about nothing.
  12. This is the reverse of what people like Jack Thompson do. Jack Thompson uses tragedies to portray games as evil. These folks are using a tragedy to portray games as good. I personally don't see any difference. Using a tragedy for your agenda is using a tragedy for your agenda no matter how you look at it, especially since games haven't really been dragged into this thing, aside from that initial interview with Jack Thompson that no one outside of the game community cares about.
  13. If FF13 jumps ship to Xbox 360 I will in all likelihood choose a Xbox 360 over PS3. I'd rather pay a lesser price to get the experience. And as far as Japan goes, it was my understanding that FF has became a bit more popular Stateside than in Japan anyhow.
  14. So, what you're saying is that say I was playing your music on my radio station and you...don't like me or something. You can't actually force me to take it down, you can only force me to pay up? That's....interesting if I'm understanding you correctly.
  15. So what I'm getting at is, say I make an Internet radio station of all public domain/my own material. Do I still pay a royalty? The article made it sound like all Internet radio stations are paying some industry concern regardless of what material they broadcast.
  16. On Slashdot an article about the new Internet radio royalty fees came up today http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070416-internet-radio-dealt-severe-blow-as-copyright-board-rejects-appeal.html I didn't really get exactly what's going and figured someone here would know more since Wikipedia and Google aren't really helping. 1) Does every American radio station have to pay a royalty to the recording industry? 2) If not, why in the hell would NPR care about this subject? 3)Why is some government board determining fees and prices? Whatever happened to market forces?
  17. For the record, I would like a giant robot of myself that shoots lasers. You know you all would too!
  18. This seems relevant....see http://www.penny-arcade.com/2007/04/11 for the full post.
  19. Probably because the PSP uses a processor similar to the original Playstation, thus saving them the trouble of completely recoding FF Tactics. Although in order for my answer to make sense, Square would have to be coding in a lot of assembly instead of something sane like mostly C and C++. Does anyone know anymore about this?
  20. In your rant when you said "American taxes at heard at work" where you making the assumption the ESRB is a government sponsored agency? It isn't.
  21. http://www.destructoid.com/elephant//ul/4370-noscale-tactics_psp_03.jpg That's a hot picture. The retranslation of FFT I've always wanted. Too bad it's on PSP. Well the PSP will eventually be cheap, and I'll still be alive. Although I'd rather play the game on something that isn't a portable.
  22. I'm a pretty big fan of Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, and Pulp Fiction and was looking forward to Death Proof moreso than Planet Terror. I didn't realize he was going to spend 40 minutes on girl talk though. I can't remember any other Tarantino movie with such boring conversations. Nope. In an interview http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=3&id=40814, they said the missing reel scene from Death Proof would be in the international version. I guess only America is good enough for this tribute. In Planet Terror, the missing reel was just funny when they cut back to the movie and a lot of exposition was missing. Death Proof was just so boring outside of the action sequences, I just wanted something that was at least marginally entertaining. The chatter in Death Proof reminded me of Reservoir Dog's opening conversation if had been allowed to go on for 40 minutes. And it just wasn't as funny.
  23. Well, at least you'll get to see the lapdance scene in Death Proof. Americans got fucked out of that. Thanks Tarantino. I'd rather see some bitches yammering instead of lap dancing.
  24. I thought the whole Grindhouse experience was amazing. Planet Terror was so ridiculous and awesome. I was incredibly disappointed with Death Proof though. It's exhausting to watch a bunch of dumb chicks sit around and talk about their sex lives even if they are attractive.
