  1. This mix has a terrific style. Everything is really well put together and flows nicely. I love the transitions and guitar tone. I've got nothing but excellent things to say about this. So good!
  2. Mods shouldn't have a problem with linking outside OCR, they should have a problem with the thread itself. You're supposed to lock favorite threads like these, not pimp your shit in them!
  3. Hahahahaha! Wow, seriously who links to their own shit in threads like this. Pretentious much? Anyway before a mod gets ahold of this, check out Vampire Hunter Dan... if you're looking outside of OCR, something particularly good is ActRaiser Symphonic. ... hahaha fuck that's hilarious.
  4. You let me down, OCR. Did I mention MUSIC BY JOSH MORSE?? Sheesh.
  5. Today I released a game made in JavaScript called Spacius! A Space Adventure. Thought the OCR crowd might dig it because it's old-school (think Gradius). Here's a screenshot: Also as a special bonus: music and sound effects by Josh Morse! FM synth FTW. Anyway, check it out!
  6. I used to beat Super Metroid at least once every month. I got my time down to something like 1:06... Also played through Final Fantasy II (SNES) about a dozen times. The most obscure though (and those are the most fun right?): I've played through Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun (Genesis) like 10 times. I don't know why, I just fucking love it.
  7. Who I know: My brother was recently promoted to a senior graphic artist position at EA. His current project is Dead Space. A good friend of mine is the Nintendo editor at Games Radar. I also work with a product manager at Yahoo! Games. My brother spent a lot of time designing Quake levels and the like from the ground up before he was a professional graphic artist. He ended up using stuff like that as his portfolio, which got him hired at Outrage. Shame on you, zircon! You and I both know many people who make game music professionally. It's not the primary source of income for all of those musicians, but it's still doable. Sure the competition is nuts, but "don't even try" is lousy advice. Everything else you said is good stuff though. (Seriously people, really know your shit before you try doing it professionally.) For programmers: learn C++ like the back of your hand. Keep in mind that game programming is the most complex, difficult programming out there. Physics, AI, 3d libraries... you've got your work cut out for you. But if you're good at it, you shouldn't have any problems finding employment (so long as you're willing to relocate ).
  8. I was using my last MIDI controller's thru with my MIDI NES. I've only got the *one* external device I use MIDI for so MIDI thru did the job nicely. I was hoping I wouldn't need a MIDI interface because last time the controller was all I needed. So nobody has any experience regarding the quality of Casio keyboards? My Edirol PCR-50 had six broken keys after just one year, and I'm wondering if Casio products are any better nowadays.
  9. Yeah the sounds aren't the best, but I only need it as a MIDI controller.
  10. I want a MIDI controller with excellent keys (weighted, all that). Right now I'm looking at the Casio CDP-100. It's a little more than I wanted to spend (was hoping ~$200), but the keys feel like magic. Just as good as the corresponding $700 Studiologic. Thing is Casios are generally known to be shit. Also: no MIDI through Anyway, thoughts? Thanks!

  12. I too have nothing to contribute to this thread, but this was a great quote: Cheers
  13. Why aren't you guys posting links? Dr. Fruitcake has a bunch of MIDIs there.
  14. Great jorb, all! Tons of memorable tracks in here. BUUUUUUMP
  15. How come you never invite *me* to be in any of your projects?
  16. Try craigslist gigs -- that section doesn't charge like jobs does. Also programmermeetdesigner.com... Lotta free sites like that. Fyi software engineers (at least in my area) get tens of thousands of dollars for just a month or two of dev work. Ouch! Posted from my blackberry. Sorry so sloplol
  17. Yeah that's one lousy transcript. Cool to see you guys on there with other well known site admins though! Kudos.
  18. The arrangement is really fun but (I hate to say this) I'm having a really hard time getting past the awful sample quality.

Also, I voted. Congrats on getting nominated Mustin.
  20. Nicely integrated and the design (as usual) is tight. Well done sir.
