  1. Yeah I hadn't heard of Success before and this game is very basic so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a small shop that developed it. It's really cool, you can switch to classic mode which features chiptune remixes of all the songs. It's fucking hard though, definitely only for hardcore RPG fans.
  2. Anybody play this yet? I'm writing a review for it and I'm having a hard time. A friend of mine wanted me to review it because I am an oldschool RPGer and I dig this kind of crap. Thing is, in an effort to be nostalgic, the game is often irritating; you have to cast a spell to see where you are on the map, for example. And some spells have stupid names like Vergo Vheia that you have to look up or memorize to know what they do ... Thought you guys might be especially interested in it though because it has amazing music and includes a music CD. Would LOVE to hear some remixes done for this game! http://www.atlus.com/darkspire/
  3. No Like BluRay, it's not enough of an improvement to get me excited
  4. I'm lucky enough to have a bunch of arcade cabinets at work The middle one is actually a class Donkey Kong cabinet now. Woo! I do kind of miss arcades too, but there are a decent amount in CA... not like the old days tho...
  5. I'm in Silicon Valley, but you bums had to pick a Friday. Don't you have day jobs?? If it was Saturday I'd be in. Oh well... Hey also my company (Raptr) is throwing a party after GDC one of those days... I'll find out more. If you're interested in free booze and shmoozing with game companies lemme know!
  6. I think my priorities are screwed up. These have all taken a backseat to "marathon The Office" and "play the christ out of Fallout 3"
  7. I've been playing the dicks out of this game. The map design is pretty good, love the weapons and the special infected are loads of fun. My favorite aspect of the game is how cooperative play is REQUIRED or you will fucking die. So good! The achievements are great fun to collect to, and they're well dispersed. My biggest complaint is probably just that only 4 people can play together at a time. Have had to turn away some people sometimes I play with friends (even a few from here) about 2x/week. I'm richtaur on XBL. Feel free to add me and jump in if you see me playing.
  8. That's a lame reason to get an NES Now, this is a very good reason to get an NES! Also you can emulate NES and about any other retro gaming console on your Wii with the homebrew channel. I mention this because I was building an NES PC, which turned out to be pointless once you've got the homebrew channel...
  9. Holy shit this is so much fun! Reminds me of Santa Esm-- oh, David nailed that in the write-up. Fuck, I love that song. And this is terrific too. Amazingly well done!
  10. I played (actually, am playing) the shit out of Oblivion so I'm very familiar with its music. This was a big disappointment to me because it's the same genre as the source. It's a mixture of verbatim and odd derivative tangents that mesh well but aren't much fun to listen to. The sound quality is good I just think the arrangement is uninspired.
  11. Whoa mama, this is intricate and complex and extremely enjoyable. Seems to stumble slightly in the middle, but it's so well put together that I believe it was fun and intentional. Well done!
  12. I don't dig the initial detuned riff that starts from the beginning... and actually in the first 30 seconds I was worried that this would continue throughout the song and be awful, but it quickly redeems itself. The mix of odd synth sounds and fantastic guitar doesn't mesh well for me but what's good is so good that it's totally forgiving. Really enjoyable song.
  13. http://www.last.fm/music/Falcom+Sound+Team+JDK There's just so much good stuff from Ys. Dozens of remixes done by I think the same guys who composed the soundtracks. So good!
  14. Yes! I've been looking forward to a Puzzle Quest sequel for a loooong time now. I maxed out every class (some of them twice). Thing is, I'm inherently less interested in this sequel because it's sci-fi and I prefer medieval fantasy. Still, the original was so good that his deserves a fair chance. Also you can play this omg right now in your browser here: http://www.playpuzzlequestgalactrix.com/ Have fun! (also the music reminds me of BSG a little)
  15. Agreed. Why would a jazz band want to associate with Jerry Macquire? Pick a mashup of catchy words that relate to your band members somehow.
  16. Seriously? That's fucking badass.
  17. I just accepted a job offer from them Here's to hopefully seeing some OCR integration on Raptr!
  18. But not on a song that passed through the panel, eh? This shouldn't have made it to the site. It induces laughter from friends and family.
  19. Kotaku: http://feeds.gawker.com/kotaku/full More people join, I want more friends
  20. It's an RSS reader like iGoogle or My Yahoo!. You add feeds (like OCR's 10 latest ReMixes or Slashdot News) to your page and it simplifies that data. http://www.netvibes.com/richtaur http://raptr.com/richtaur Friend me or whatever!
  21. Anyone here use Raptr? I'm curious about your experience with them. If you're not familiar: They put a social spin (sound familar?) on gaming, so like you can manage your collection, make a wishlist, connect with friends, and they have a client you can download that tracks the games you've been playing. Anyway, would like to read your thoughts if you've used the site before, and if not, your thoughts after looking
  22. Man, that video made me hot! I'd plead in her court any day.
  23. Larry, your blog is ugly. Get an OCR fanboy to design a new theme for you.
  24. Been enjoying this one for months now, happy to see it getting more love on OCR. Good jorb Josh!
  25. Hot damn this is awesome! Smacks of TheDarkReachesofSMW only, uh, more musical. Fun stuff.
