  1. No, most spam accounts are created by part-timers who are basically paid to sign up for websites all day and fill out account info. That's how they get past captchas and stuff. The main goal is to just get a link with keywords into a forum signature, because forum profiles are indexed by search engines, and that increases the SEO for their advertised websites.
  2. No, it wouldn't. We're allowed to have our own favorites. My favorite remixer is ziwtra. I'm not promoting favoritism or elitism when I say that. I don't really understand how that promotes either, to be honest. The reason we don't allow favorites threads on the forums has less to do with the site's stance on ratings and more to do with the fact that people just post lists when they should be discussing things. Favorites threads (regardless the topic) always degenerate into lists. As for blogs, people will be allowed to post their own lists if they'd like. We're not going to discourage that, because blogs aren't discussion threads, they're just thoughts that people want to share. The point about ratings in the site's mission is the reason we don't have a publicized tracking mechanism for things like ratings and popularity. Those kinds of things are always susceptible to the kind of preferences Larry mentioned. But personal favorites lists don't get tallied and they don't get tracked and consolidated. It's just one person's opinion. If someone wants to express that (staff member or not), they'll be free to do so once the blogs roll out.
  3. I did. I was in that game. He set us all on fire.
  4. Pretty good, though I got killed by a teammate today and was promptly chided for getting in his way. It's always a good idea to announce when you're going to use a mining laser.
  5. Your sig is too tall, please resize it in accordance with the 250px height limit.

  6. Don't bother reporting them if they haven't made any posts.
  7. They're called the "Killing Gloves of Boxing," not the "Killing Boxing Gloves." The distinction is important because the abbreviation is supposed to be K.G.B.
  8. http://ocremix.org/forums/tags.php?tag=rock http://ocremix.org/forums/tags.php?tag=metal These are the lists of the review threads for songs in the styles you requested. You can get to the songs by clicking the link at the top of the first page of posts for each thread. Down the road, tags will be better integrated into the site proper so that you won't have to go through review threads to get to them.
  9. I use sweep a lot but I don't think I'd ever use it after a karakusa; it just seems like a waste when there's more you can do in terms of being really aggressive with f.MP and hayates.
  10. I think I'm just going to close this out. My apologies to willrock for taking so long, but it looks like zirc just has a lot on his plate right now and extending this even further is something that I don't really want to do. I'll tag up the track and release tonight. As for winners vs. losers, let's just call Willrock and Zircon eternal rivals. We good with that? In any case, I kind of need to get started with organizing the album release for this, and I've got another album that's coming out soon, PLUS I have to start the maverick one, which won't have revenge rounds.
  11. Next time, instead of making another post with the correct URL and cussing someone out, just edit your own post and put the correct URL in, which I just did for you.
  12. If you have a specific release date for the album, you can go ahead and post in Community. If it's just a "hey here's what we're working on, we'll release it when it's done" preview, then wait until the album is actually available to post in Community.

  13. Why hate on Sony? Don't try to play NTSC games on a PAL TV, it's not going to work.
  14. Reuben would have turned 26 today. Let's all remember what a wonderful artist he was, and a wonderful guy. http://ocremix.org/artist/4608/reuben-kee Cake.
  15. Moving sentries around really changes everything. Although headshotting an Engie who just packed up his Level 3 is quite satisfying.
  16. I liked playing last night with no class limits. It was fun, plus it was a nice to get a chance to see all the new stuff in action, and get some practice in dealing with a lot of buildings.
  17. It's unlawful to divulge the circumstances of a person's actual firing.
  18. The very same mix was linked on Penny-Arcade years ago. http://www.penny-arcade.com/2004/2/18/ PA is awesome but no, not really a big deal.
  19. They cut planned content that they had every intention of restoring with the inevitable PS3 version.
