  1. We've been using IRC for many years but anyone who hangs out in #ocremix knows that it's been a bit dead lately. We've decided to set up a Discord server for OC ReMix in the hopes that people will be more inclined to use a more modern group-chat program. Join the OC ReMix Discord Server Discord can be used in-browser and also has desktop and mobile apps, and one REALLY nice feature is integrated voice chat, so if people want to use the OCR Discord to get some gaming chat going (Overwatch, LoL, etc.) we can set some channels up. Right now we've got a Community channel (for music and games discussion), a Workshop channel (for posting WIPs), and a Compo channel (for running compos and hosting listening parties). As always, community rules apply, i.e. don't be a jerk, etc. Join us for some discussion!
  2. Not Sombra. Ana. Gameplay trailer here: https://esports.yahoo.com/character-trailer-debuts-ana-showcases-165959928.html Origin Story trailer here: http://www.polygon.com/2016/7/12/12157248/overwatch-new-dlc-hero-ana-blizzard-entertainment Looks incredible.
  3. Hey everyone, I've made a new thread for the OCR playlist initiative. Since making the old thread we figured out a better process for putting them together. So let's start fresh here. I'll try to keep the first post updated with new playlists as we publish them.
  4. During one of OCR's staff meetings Larry and I figured out some really great tools that YouTube has for creating playlists. In addition to game-specific playlists, we've started putting together some themed playlists with the help of some other staff members. Check 'em out. Hit the Gym, Bro: ReMixes for Working Out Don't Sleep on This: ReMixes from Obscure Games Rock Out with Your Clock Out: Rock and Metal ReMixes Take it Easy: Relaxing ReMixes YouTube allows us to deputize people so that they can add videos to playlists we create; if anyone wants the collab link to add OCR videos to these playlists, post here to request access. Once you get access, you can start adding videos. Remember, OCR channel videos only! We know that we don't have all of our albums up on YouTube yet; we're working out a solution to that, so please don't add non-posted album tracks uploaded to other YouTube channels. If you have an idea for a themed playlist that you'd like to create for OCR's YouTube channel, post here with your idea and I can hook it up for you.
  5. My brother and I used to play a lot of the Magi-Nation card game. I think I still have some of my decks.
  6. Just recommend the artist with samples of their work.
  7. Read the topic. People are having a thoughtful discussion. Don't reduce that to "wanking off academically."
  8. The amiibo functionality for WiiU's Shovel Knight is pretty wild, TBH. I mean it enables two-player mode, which in-and-of-itself is pretty great, but the Custom Knight that gets attached to your amiibo is awesome. Essentially, Custom Knight is like an arcade version of Shovel Knight. Rather than trying to hunt down upgrades and gear in the game, you unlock everything by playing, earning EXP, and leveling up; when you level up, you heard equipment or an upgrade. Some of the equipment isn't even stuff you can unlock in the normal Shovel Knight campaign; it's brought over from the Plague Knight campaign. Very cool.
  9. This thread is for posting and discussing VGM remixes and arrangements that aren't published by or found on OC ReMix. Basically if you find a cool remix on YouTube or something and feel like sharing it with folks in the community, this is the place to post it. A couple of ground rules before we get started: Video game music remixes and arrangements only. Add some comments about why you like the music you're posting. Don't post music without discussing the music other people post. We want to foster discussion here, not create a sterile feed of content. Don't post your own music in this thread; rules about artists posting their own music in Community still apply. Current and TBP ReMixers are allowed to create new threads for their own albums. Current and TPB ReMixers should post any singles in the Workshop. Non-posted artists should only post their albums and singles in the Workshop. Don't post links to unlicensed remixes that are being sold for profit. Hopefully this solves the issue of "I found a cool remix on YouTube and want to share it but it's not mine so it doesn't really make sense to post it in the Workshop but if I post it in Community it would look like I'm advertising and DarkeSword gets pissed about that stuff what is that guy's problem anyway he's such a jerk sometimes..." Anyway, get crackin' people. Show us some cool tunes.
  10. Honestly don't overthink the rules for Requests. Just make a thread for what you want. "Hey can someone make a remix of Super Mario Bros. Overworld mixed with Sonic's Green Hill Zone? Here are the sources." Done. I've made a new Guidelines thread. Old one is a bit outdated.
  11. The Requests forum is for you to post your ideas and requests for songs and games you'd like so see remixed. This forum is limited to requests for video game music remixes only. Posting a Thread Your thread should have a descriptive title, preferably with the games or source tune names in it. Don't be vague with topic titles, like "please remix this" or "can't believe this hasn't been done yet..." If you can, include a link to the source tunes so that artists can actually listen to what you want remixed. YouTube is a good place to find source tunes, but you can also post Soundcloud link or links to the official OSTs on Bandcamp. Be descriptive about what you'd like to hear. This includes genre/style considerations. Don't post too many requests in a small amount of time. Try to limit it to one or two per week. Use your best judgement. If your request is for a specific artist to make a remix, consider contacting them via PM or social media rather than making a thread. If you're an artist, don't post a thread asking for suggestions of what to remix. Just browse the forum for suggestions, that's what it's for. Conduct Be polite. Don't act entitled. Artists don't owe you anything. Your request might be filled, or it might not. Don't badmouth OC ReMix or any of the music already on the site. For example, if you want a metal remix of a song from Sonic 3, don't complain about all the non-metal Sonic 3 remixes we already have of that song, or that you don't like the metal remix of that song that we already have. Don't act indignant or fake indignance that a game or song you like hasn't been remixed yet. There are plenty of valid reasons for your favorite game or song to have been overlooked. Don't post in someone's request thread shooting down their request. Anyone is allowed to request any game or song to be remixed, even if that game or song already has a lot of remixes. If someone wants to request more Ice Cap Zone or Schala's Theme, that's absolutely fine. Don't ask for or provide links to illegal original and arranged soundtrack downloads.
  12. The voice acting specifically calls Link "Link." I don't think the option to name your character will be available here.
  13. Nintendo's finally announced details and has shown off a lot of information and footage related to the new Zelda game, Breath of the Wild. I'm very excited about the open-exploration approach to the series. Looks gorgeous, sounds amazing, and looks incredibly fun.
  14. yeah I have all the music, I just need to prep the release.
  15. I played D&D on-and-off for many years with a specific core group of friends. One of my oldest friends, Sarah, has run campaigns in her own personal setting since we were in high school, and I, along with other friends, have played many characters that helped shape the setting; one of my characters has essentially entered into legendary-recurring-NPC territory at this point. It's been a massive source of creativity in my life wholly apart from my composing/arranging hobby. I've spent a lot of time writing stories and engaging in both D&D and freeform RP to flesh out characters. Sarah's DMing style leans more on the storytelling side of D&D over the mechanical, board game combat side, so it's always been a great way to engage in great storytelling. It's not even the typical funny stories you hear from folks playing D&D either about how they managed to kill their whole party or about how they just screw with people; it's more like, there's so much character development and real drama that it's become one of my favorite fantasy settings, on par with Dragonlance or LotR. Haven't played in a few years because we're all adulting now, but I miss the crap out of it. Might bother Sarah to get a game going soon.
  16. It also fun when you're playing as Mercy and you pair up with someone who knows what they're doing. Hit that damage boost and rake in the kills.
  17. Supports, honestly. Lucio and Mercy will make you a teammate magnet. Zarya's ability to share a force-field also works. Spam a lot of "group up."
  18. Symmetra really is more of a support/defense hybrid than pure support IMO. The shields and teleporter definitely fit "support" but setting up a defense matrix with all of her turrets can really be effective defense. It also helps to move turrets around so that the other team is constantly caught off-guard.
  19. Nabeel's been showing me how powerful everything is over the last couple of months. I'm looking forward to this. I have an album that I'm working on and I want some SNES textures in there. I'll have to update Kontakt though, I'm still on 4. xD
  20. I played a lot during the beta and am trying to play a little every night now that the game is out. Have been a Symmetra player for a while now, really fantastic things you can do with her; multiple turrets covering one spot is key. Had a fantastic run as Pharah too last night keeping the payload 2 feet away from the final point. I think the other team got frustrated because they were steamrolling until then.
  21. I'm working on Pokken Tournament.
  22. I feel like the arranging and part-writing certainly makes up for the production issues. Oboe feels a little exposed, but that's a nitpick for me. I think this is lovely. Very mysterious. I'm on board. YES
