Seeing as how those comments were made more than 3 years ago, I think they did. -

Honestly, I can't see any reason not to use Winamp.

Yeah, it's dxi capable but there's no Cyclone. Only Dreamstation, Edirol VSC and Dyad. I could rewire Reason in, but that would probably get me in trouble since this teach is pretty tight in terms of following the guidelines.

In my class, we're using Cakewalk Home Studio 2 to create an audio collage using various clips my teacher pilfered from the internet. I was wondering how/if I could assign the audio to the MIDI keyboard? So that i'd be able to either a) control the various audio clips from different keys (and when i record, it'll place the clips at the points I trigger) or assign one audio clip to the keyboard for easy pitch shifting and placement. Is this possible or is it a pipe dream?

Reminds me of some of the Pixies instrumental tracks. I like this a lot - not something I would ever expect from JJT, though. I'm a big alt rock/garage fan, so I dig this. I'd like to see more of this style from JJT; he has a great grasp of the sound/style. Maybe some (more) vocal collabs with Vig?

You know, i was thinking the same thing. I've been watching the DL counter for a while now. When we got close to being the most downloaded project, all of a sudden KiC started shooting up. I just thought it was a bit funny. Well, now we're the most downloaded site project, with 13,162 downloads from the torrent alone. Nice work, guys. We keep on truckin.

OCR01368 - Bust a Groove "Bust This Groove '81"
Navi replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Months later, this mix is still amazing. I'd go so far as to say it's possibly one of the best songs this site has to offer. The vocals are amazing and sit perfectly, the track production is authentic and catchy...there's little to hate about this song. I'm waiting for more from Robby (that Eurobeat mix was sounding hot)...he's definitely one of the few mixers I look forward to hearing MUCH more from. -
OCR00945 - Metal Gear Solid 2 "Big Shell West Bristol"
Navi replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
err, it's not a direct rip at all. have you listened to the original? i can understand complaints with reliance on the vocal sample, but to say it's a direct rip is really pushing it. -

way back when this came out, it was one of the first songs i got from OCR. i had it on all of my mix cds and fell asleep to it on occasion too. it's a perfect embodiment of the triphop/portishead sound. i love it to death. -

FL Sampler - avoiding time streching...
Navi replied to JamesXIIC's topic in Music Composition & Production
I believe somebody was talking about using the playlist to chop and slice up their samples over in another thread not too long ago. Hopefully they shall read this and illuminate the matter for us. that was me. yea, just drop the audio clip into the playlist, find the part you want cut, and cut it using the "razor thingie". use the grid snaps to make the cutting a bit easier. -
so, it's tonight eh?

by the way, points to nineko for the muthafuckin CHIP'S CHALLENGE avatar. if i wasn't deadset on my own little baby, i'd switch to that pronto

Question: How do YOU start your remixes?
Navi replied to The Vagrance's topic in Music Composition & Production
i build ideas from the drums up. my paperboy track started out as me building a drum pattern and then adding to it until i had basically a whole song's worth of drums. then i decided to add in the paperboy bassline and worked from there. -
are you recording both at once? because if you're recording seperately, i dont see the problem with recording in as mono and then working with it in the mixing stage.
