  1. Civ 3 and Revolution, Age of Empires, Empire Earth, Rise of Nations, these are the kinds of RTS games I'd prefer to play. You were building a civilization rather than field bases. Too bad they never got the same appreciation as Blizzard RTSes.
  2. This is something I pulled out from my bin of old "secret" WIPs...ones that were not good enough to show to the public until I have worked on them considerably. This one's two years in the making. I wanted to make another Aria of Sorrow remix and chose the Floating Garden as a good source to attempt a new take on it. As my abilities improved so must my computer to take care of it. I couldn't have done this as efficiently with my single core setup just a year ago. Anyways, I like how this is shaping up and I await your feedback. Source material: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/gba/CVAoS-FloatingGarden.mid Listen and enjoy
  3. I'm not complaining about the orchestra section. It's my favorite part of the mix. The attack on the high strings makes them sound real fake, as well as the lower strings when they're more exposed. I'm not familiar with the source but you captured a nice groove with this one.
  4. New version uploaded. I adjusted the levels on most of the instruments, especially with balancing out the ones mostly for effects that were cluttering up the sound in the last version. Also swapped out some drum sounds, and did a few changes to the slow section by Vagrance's request.
  5. Starts off with big booming bass. Loud, but still interesting enough sound IMO. I wanted to see where you'd go with this. Now 7 seconds in, and those claps don't sound good at all. I was hoping for a good change in dynamics, but despite adding more instruments the bass drowns them all out. Now I recognize a familiar FL sound at 0:38 but not necessarily saying that's bad. I just want to point out DJ Zircones used this same instrument to good effect, so even standard out-of-the-box sounds can sound well with the proper balancing and compression. I have to agree that the first part of the remix sounds out of tune and though I can clearly hear the chord progressions it's doesn't give me the feel that it's a remix of the original. The main part comes in and a different thought comes to mind...if this was produced well it would be a pretty awesome gabber tune. Too bad its mixing is not up to par. Some of the synth programming is decent. I don't think this can ever be up to OCR standards with the current way it's constructed (too much repetition), but with some work it would be a good mix just for bouncing your head to.
  6. Just a quick FYI- I'm continuing to work on this
  7. Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2. Epic and chill musics, all at once. (announcer voices aside) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9ngBNbh-JI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GXHjHs75XU
  8. Hope you enjoyed your day! I still can't get over the fact that your username is not based off the famous turntablist q-bert
  9. Jeanne D'Arc is a nice tactics game for those pick-me-up gameplay types. Don't expect it to be deep as FFT or even Disgaea. That said, the pacing of the battles feels just right. I like its presentation too- you normally don't get this much attention to detail in tactical RPG games.
  10. Damn you Vangrance, you beat me to it on posting the Noisia remix. That remix of The Omen is sick.
  11. Hot stuff for sure. The strings need less reverb. But synth-strings are good for this genre.
  12. I guess we can make a mashup thread, only since mashups aren't much as OCRable material. I have at least two decent mashups, a Tales of Symphonia one and FFX one.
  13. Perfect time for my Xbox 360 to RROD, right in the middle of playing Fable 2. So it's true, these boxes magically crap out approximately one year after buying them. Well, while I get that fixed, it leaves me more time to buy Mirror's Edge and Gears of War 2 out of my backlog. Oh, and a couple JRPGs but I don't know what to get first. Should I get Tales of Vesperia first, or Eternal Sonata? Isn't ToV just like the gameplay of Symphonia, but with a different 'skin'? (just different characters and plot)
  14. The intro pads feel too lo-fi for the drums, so I agree with what was said about the drums. Maybe you can muffle them a bit and then bring them out in full for the next part. At least then it will have more variation in the soundscape. Once the wobbly bass drops in, things really pick up. Nice use of dino sounds. By the way, check my MC Kids wip, Vangrance, it needs more opinions. (it has a dubby section as well )
  15. I gave my mom a 26" Samsung HDTV- it was actually for her birthday this August, but it was countable as an Xmas gift too. $40 to my bro which he contributed to buying FF Crisis Core and DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the Wii. (he's going to resell DBZ now, lol) Then I received a towel set, and a floor lamp which I really needed to light up my living room. Finally $75, which went towards Fable 2, Dead Rising and Dracula X Chronicles. Still craving for a laptop...
  16. They need to stop making those. The Wayans Brothers are done with that business. Good thing for movie review sites like Spill that literally say "Fuck you!" as a movie rating.
  17. What a unique interpretation for this source. The brass sounds a bit too synthetic...do try to give it more timbre. I am thinking maybe try rendering a WIP that uses a brass patch with more attack to it. You should take this to the DKC2 remix project, posthaste. I believe that this music track is still open.
  18. Cutting the highs should be no big problem. I'll do that with the next version of the WIP. What rhythm pads are you talking about? Is it the gated synth that plays at the very beginning? The lead at 3:00 does need a lot of improvment. Thing is, this is a wav file that I made from another loop pattern that I no longer have. It will be tricky to work with it. Maybe I'll just replace it with something else. Keep those critiques coming. I know that this isn't your style of music, Rozovian, but it's always nice to see you comment on it.
  19. I know that FL Studio has never been released on Mac OS X because that OS does not natively support the language FL was programmed in (Delphi). However... Is it possible to run Windows only software such as FL Studio through Darwine or Parallels, and run it reliably? I know those two OS emulators work differently, since Parallels requires you to have an actual retail version of the OS you want to run on Mac.
  20. I agree. Fuck this challenge. Soulja Boy taking a hat-wearing challenge is much more interesting.
  21. Thanks for the fix. I didn't even notice the spelling until I went back and looked at the page this week.
  22. My new setup. My PC and DJ equipment, previously in the same room, now had to be separated. I just moved into a new apartment a few weeks ago, so there's more adjustments to be made. Computer stuff in the bedroom: PC/Hackintosh with FL Studio and Cubase LE Roland MC-505 Groovebox Sennheiser HD-201 for mixing (I don't use speakers) The reason my PC is on its side is because the one day the fan in my graphics card decided to fall low against its casing, making a rattling noise. Turning it sideways is my temporary fix, until I can try to fix the fan myself. DJ stuff in the living room: Missing is the Lexicon audio interface which I'll plug in once I figure out how to get my PC and DJ setup to work as one (is there such a thing as wireless USB?)
  23. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, though I didn't get the backstory at the time, was enjoyable to watch from its action and especially suspense. It was one of the first anime series I acquired before using the net became popular, through borrowing videotapes from a fan.
  24. I wish more companies would create portable hardware solutions to sequencing and synth programming. Kinda like Yamaha did with the QY100. We obviously have the technology to make a software-emulated synth powerhouse that you can put in your pocket.
  25. Doctor Octoroc has released 18 rather short chiptune tracks covering Christmas songs. The song titles give a hint to what the music will sound like. For instance, 8 Days of Master Robots will sound like Mega Man in terms of sound programming (but not that you would hear any acutal Mega Man music mixed in). They may not all be terribly complex pieces of work but they're still free so might as well take them for how they are. http://www.doctoroctoroc.com/video-games/8-bit-jesus-full-album-release/
