  1. I admit that I have a bias towards it, and even know why. I've been on the job site several times when some crazy kid covered in tattoos comes along and cranks is radio up as loud as it can go playing metal. People shrilling and screaming as hard as they can for hours coupled with pernicious guitar lines. Then they walk around the job holding their eyes really wide open like they've been doing ecstasy. It was awful, and it isn't music. It was sonic know doubt, but it certainly isn't music. It felt like someone was splitting my head open. I've never heard any metal that I liked. Maybe metal makes people too open minded, almost like; so open someone reached in and snatched part of their brain. To counter, let me say this: When it comes to music I don't think anyone who enjoys music from OCR should be deemed close minded.
  2. Yeah, I was careful to leave that word out. I've ascertained that it all sucks. Unequivocally. None of you get an opinion, cause if you like metal; it's dissolved your brain. Go OCR!
  3. Been jamming to this lately and realized haven't reviewed it. Basically it kicks ass. It's hands down my favorite Castlevania arrangement. Fantastic work.
  4. I don't consider metal to even be music. It's something else. Noise of some sort. The artists have no musical talent at all. Just a morbid genre in my opinion.
  5. This would be better termed classic rock, but if you're not familiar with Roxette they have a fantastic female vocalist. And a ton of good tracks. In my opinion ever album they did was stocked with good tracks. There's more to them than the known-everywhere 'Lay a Whisper', and 'She's Got the Look'. Not that those aren't good songs, but they have a lot of other great songs.
  6. An incredible piano adaption of Ryu's theme by Reuben Kee. He will be missed.
  7. At the death of the author to this remix, OCR's own Reuben Kee; I would like to get a few of his remixes up on the bulletin so people who are new can get acquainted with his great work. If you don't have this remix, download it. Excellent arrangement.
  8. No doubt, OCR just lost a great community member and an immense piece of talent. As before mentioned, let us appreciate that he left us with some incredible musical arrangements to be remember through. His name will never fade.
  9. Does meet the profile. This sucks. Hope he's ok. If it's true it will be a monumental loss to the community.
  10. Talk about feeling bad for not liking Ocarina of Time. My bro stopped by and left me his Wii with a big stack of games including Twilight Princess (The reason he encouraged me to borrow his Wii) and I'm too busy sitting on my ass to play any of the games. He even hooked it all up for me so all I have to do is turn on the power to the Wii and my flat panel. Why am I too lazy to do it? Hmmmm...looks like he's got some pretty good games here: Twilight Princess, Guitar Heros III, Metroid Prime: Corruption, Mario Galaxy, Mario Strikers: Charged, Trauma Center: Second Opinion and some other titles, X-Men and shit.... It just sounds like a bunch of $%^&ing work to start playing them. Especially Twilight Princess, since I know if I start it I won't want to stop until I win it.
  11. Well it's been quite a day. There's been food everywhere, and a lasting amount of beer. I started off by sleeping in. (it felt sooo nice) Played basketball with my little brothers in the afternoon, spent the evening riding quads. Then there was more food. And my step sisters are telling me to come get more. I'm torn though because my older brother has a full bar going on in his bedroom. Do I eat, or do I graciously accept the whatever-I-want cocktail he's offering me? So much pressure at these family get togethers..
  12. We're the hyper power. We'll decide when Thanksgiving is. Not you. As for American standard vs metric, don't fricken' ask me. I've never understood why our government insists on using this nonsensical system.
  13. I've met people that feel as much about thanksgiving. You're not alone dude. Just count your blessings and shit. Oh, If you're old enough... grab a beer and make the most of it.
  14. In Twilight Princess, the segments where you had to play as the wolf detracted from the gaming experience for me. I'd have rathered there just be more game play as Link. Still a great game though.
  15. My family goes crazy with it. Drinking some beer now to get ready for the 5 day feast to come. My step sisters force food down your throat. You can't escape them. You could run 600 yards off into the boon docks and hide under a rock. They'd still introduce you to a tray of selective meats, pies, and salads. The one time of year that it's a good thing I'm grossly under weight. Enjoy Thanksgiving guys and gals.
  16. But for thousands and millions it is a factor. Feelings of nostalgia are one of the fundamental reasons this website has been so successful. It's real, and there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with you not getting all teary eyed and nostalgic over a video game either. You say you love the game for the game its self no matter how primitive, and that's fine. No one disagrees.
  17. I agree, doesn't really make sense to compare them. Either you enjoy them or you don't. Comparing the Nes versions of Ninja Gaiden to the newer one and Ninja Gaiden: Black just doesn't make any sense.
  18. Why? What's wrong with that? That's why we enjoy a lot of things. Not just video games. It's why old people like classic cars and the younger generation thinks they look ridiculous. It's why a person gets attached to the way their mother makes pumpkin pie and the neighbor boy thinks it tastes strange. It's often why we have specific tastes in women/men. The list goes on and on. The other day my little brothers were playing Ocarina of Time and I walked through the living room. They were so into it. Using the guide, trying to get every heart, and accomplish ever mini-quest. Seeing it made me want to play it again, even though I thought the graphics were wanting. If it hadn't been for my memories attached to that game from when I was in high school, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. The result was, I stripped my Gamecube from them and played it for an afternoon. It was still fun. Story continued: After I gave it back to my little bros. I enjoyed heckling them by not letting them use the guide for the water temple and making them fight Evil Link using the Master Sword. (it's too easy with the Big Goron Sword) Since it was my console etc. I had the power to impose my belligerent demands on them. Ahhh, good times good times.
  19. I'm a few years late on this one but that doesn't take away from how bad ass this mix is. Stumbled onto it in my archive and I've been enjoying it for a couple weeks, so I felt obligated to get in here and throw up a review on it. It's fantastic. Great work DS.
  20. Instant favorite. So good, you'll think it's from a high budget movie soundtrack. It reminds me of a movie theme, can't place which one. Basically this mix is fucking awesome. Eat your heart out Hans! Since I'm here I feel obligated to mention how much I love Eastern Ice Field. Just can not get enough of that remix. Once again Big Giant Circles delivers.
  21. Very very cool. Great remix to work to or wind down with. My favorite type. I think the piano solo at 2:53 is awesome, and everything after it. Really cool climax. Great work.
  22. Loved the title on this one, 'No Man is an Island'. Very clever. Aside from that it's a great arrangement. I was shocked how proportionate the various instruments/sound effects were. They seemed very well placed and set at the appropriate levels disallowing them to drown out the piano and other tunes. Great job guys.
  23. Cool take on this track. Plenty of jingles and tingles to go around. I thought the transition at 2:15 was great.
