  1. I would have said it was the work of the various staff members in the various departments inside Apple, but fuck them, STEVE JOBS, MAN! I find it funny when people talk like he was personally responsible for every single thing that happened in Apple and he was the man that designed all their products. They obviously have no idea how a company like that works. It's not Jobs, it's the designers, programmers, marketing, research and development people that made Apple what it is. Jobs was a corporate figurehead. He had about as much say over things as you or I do. His main duty was to show up at the press conferences and talk the next product up, not to design hardware or lay out the next several years of products. He didn't write iOS himself (or even part of it). He didn't decide to make gaming a part of the iPhone/iPad suite (in fact, by his own admission, he didn't think it would work at all, and it was the efforts of various Apple department heads that made it happen). It was all the workers at Apple. He was just the face everyone saw. I doubt the guy that designed the processor for the newest iPhone has people wearing t-shirts with his face on it, despite the fact he did more to make it happen than Jobs ever did. But but but... STEVE JOBS, MAN!
  2. It doesn't do anything. As soon as I start typing, it goes to a list of potential searches. Even after turning that feature off, it doesn't do anything. Fuck you, Google.
  3. ... at an iOS/Android developer conference. http://www.forbes.com/sites/benzingainsights/2011/11/02/steve-jobs-voted-most-influential-man-in-video-games-igniting-a-firestorm-of-complaints/ Miyamoto got 7%, Gabe Newell got 16%, and Jobs got 26%. In a related poll, he was listed in the top five people in the games industry by 46% of poll-takers. So, to recap, a survey at a heavily-Apple oriented conference shows that Apple fans, staff and iOS developers think Steve Jobs is the biggest thing to hit the games industry in years. That's some good surveying there, guys. Sounds totally legit. And for good measure:
  4. I heard they used the money to buy orphans to sing in the choir, and then they sent the choir to China and made a tidy profit off of them as factory workers. True story. Also, some of the the orphans were used as test subjects for the Chinese space program, since they were smaller from being underfed by the ZREO team. Totally true as well.
  5. Knew that. He was also the creator of the Wonderswan and ROB, the NES robot thingy. Fun fact: I had planned to make sure all the remix titles would spell out "we still miss you gunpei yokoi" when you read the first letters. But that would be a bit cheesy and I would have to force everyone to alter their titles to make it work.
  6. Oh please do, someone has to cover Metroid. It's one of the most known and yet smallest Nintendo series made. And I'm pretty sure most of the music was original for the Game Boy version.
  7. That's the joke, stop ruining it. Any way, Will and I were talking and we're going to set a date of December 1st for WIP deadlines. It's not a cut-off, we just want to see some progress on what has been claimed already. WIPs are WIPs, we're not expecting completed remixes yet (thought if you could do that level of quality that quickly, we got about ten more remixes for you to look at).
  8. Let's just skip the flavor, salt and calorie talk for a moment. Let's discuss what they use to make the meat part of the McRib. And I use "meat" loosely, since it's technically more membranes and interstitual tissue than anything else. From this article, I quote: You're paying how much for ground-up pig organs that glues itself together? And you were all worrying about the sodium content before... I wonder how many of you are going to keep eating McRibs after reading that. If you're going to eat fast food, at least eat something with some actual meat content in it. Chemically reconstituted stomach protein is not food.
  9. Actually, Gamastura and License to Thrill are still working. Project X just redirects you to their new site, http://www.projectxweb.com/, which is still running. The rest, though, are toast. CDIV, as they would write in Rome.
  10. Wait, they're profiting from their unauthorized recreation of copyrighted music? That ain't right. That ain't right at all.
  11. WHY IS NO ONE QUOTING THIS? This is the best example of other players in a game, and how much they can act like assholes. My mom and sister started slapping the controllers out of each others hands within ten minutes of playing.
  12. Get a portable game system (GBA SP, DS, PSP, etc) and buy a solar panel charger. Charge everything from the sun. Fuck the electrical infrastructure of the man. But then someone will complain about how you're exploiting the sun for energy, or that solar panels are toxic or some shit. Really, you're pretty much always going to be doing something to the environment, so fuck it: just go with it.
  13. Sorry, I got a lot of PMs the first few days after the thread qas started. I thought I got everyone but obviously thatis not the case. I'll get that link a listening to later today.
  14. Realistically, most soldiers don't carry more than a primary firearm and a side arm or two. The other variety of weapons are reserved for specialists and don't appear in front-line combat because of that. So really, this is the most realistic depiction to date.
  15. Yep, halc PMed me and he's remixing one of the original tunes from Pinball. Problem solved. Also: Dusk. Pokémon is my favorite series. You better do it right.
  16. Pinball is a spin-off, but the thing is, a lot of the music used in it is remixed from the original Red and Blue. It actually has very little original music. Halc is going to have to restrict it to the original music for Pinball, and avoid anything that is from Red and Blue. Yeah sorry, been busy with some other stuff. Worst case, if I don't get back to you, WillRock is the co-director and can make decisions if needed. I did give it your links a listening to, and I have to wonder where you keep that orchestra when you're not using it. If you want FF Legends, I got no problem with that. Have at it, and I hope that level of production is as good as that link.
  17. Fuck that. 3D video recording, FINALLY. Now all those people that have been waiting to record their dicks in glorious 3D, but never had access to any 3D cameras, can now do so. What a glorious time to be alive...
  18. Yeah, so DJP said we're good to go. We can set up a new thread in Projects, and start banging out those remixes. Or can we just move this one to there? Either way, we're no longer in Recuiting, we're in Projects. OFFICIAL, BABY!
  19. Meh, speculation thread. I'd rather have a thread with actual verified stuff going on.
  20. Sorry mirby, but that isn't news. Ths was known back in August. What's going on is that IGN just got around to reporting it now, and everyone else is just re-reporting it via twitter and blog posts. http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/28808699/pokemon-gray-pretty-much-confirmed
  21. So what is it, then? The water routes? Not being able to trade over 2nd gen pokes? I still never hear any valid reason why people hate 3rd gen so much.
  22. The 3rd gen hate is unfounded. RSE added a lot of good things, many of which are still implimented today, as well as fixed many of the flaws that gens 1 and 2 made. In fact, most of the hate seems to be "the designs are ugly and unoriginal" bullshit that gets thrown around every time there's a new game. Every argument that people use against 3 rd gen works just as well against all the others, especially 1st gen.
  23. I don't see how telling him how his plan is flawed before he starts is "hating". If anything, it should be a sign that we're caeing enough to point it out. "Hey! That house on fire you're about to go into. Not a good idea, don't you think?" "Fucking haters..."
  24. I think it's more that he choose a very poorly thought-out idea than anything. His plan is tocontact a big, faceless company and ask if they can write stories based upon one of their oldest properties. No one seems to be a published writer (which would help a lot) and they honestly expect that Capcom will just say "sure, go for it!" It smells of naiveity and it will certainly fail before it gets anywhere near where these.guys think or hope.it will. So yeah, there's some serious (and quite frankly deserved) doubt it will ever amonut to more than a form letter saying no.
