  1. Oh, forgot to mention... if this does happen at the end of July as opposed to another time (it's cool, I understand ), The Protomen, Super 8-Bit Brothers, and The Adventures of Duane and Brando are playing in Chicago on July 28. http://www.subt.net/#0728 Just throwin' that out there.
  2. Huh. Thought I posted this already, but I guess I didn't. Sometime at the end of July would work great for me.
  3. Oh, man that sucks. I listened to some 30 second snippets and was figuring as much... but I was really hoping I was wrong. Too bad. I Created Disco is one of my favorite albums from the last few years.
  4. Dude. I'd totally be down for it, except the 26th is no good for me. It would have to be a bit farther in the future for me to go. Though it's about time we had a Midwest meetup again. Last one was in Louisville back in 2007.
  5. Wait so you're posting in the review thread to say that you didn't listen to it? Oooookay then. You're missing out though. It's way different than other Gerudo remixes too.
  6. Thanks for the tip, but I actually read this literally moments after purchasing LSDJ and one of those EMS 64M carts. I've been reading up on Game Boy and MIDI, and I think I'm going to try to do something similar to what I was talking about with the NES. Still thinking about MidiNES though...
  7. Huh. Guess I'll have to start doing YouTube searches for this sort of thing from now on. Pretty cool.
  8. I'm really close to purchasing a copy of MidiNES, but I'm wanting to make sure I'm doing the right thing. I'm wanting to make chiptunes, and I like the idea of just feeding MIDI files to the NES, as I'm pretty comfortable with MIDI sequencing. I'm also planning on playing live (I play keys in a band), so I like the idea of having real-time control via keyboard. I don't know how it would work, but syncing it up with Ableton Live would be pretty cool too, if I could figure it out. However, I've looked around the net, and I've found very little in the way of reviews. Is this worth dropping 100 bucks on?
  9. OCR, I'm disappointed in you. 7 pages in and no one has Photoshopped the NWG in a bridal gown?
  10. So we're not counting Dio? I think we've hit three already.
  11. Congratulations man! Now everyone, quick! Flood the judges panel with wedding themed remixes for when he gets back!
  12. Maybe we're past this already, but I'd like to say that I second this statement. That being said, I've really excelled with Reason. The added benefit of learning with Reason is that once you're familiar and comfortable with it, you'll also have a fairly solid foundation for how physical audio/recording gear works. I took a class in college on studio recording, and even though I'd never touched a soundboard before, I was already way ahead of everyone else. It's because "recording" electronic music with Reason is so darn similar to recording "real" music with physical gear.
  13. Weren't they already dead? Oh wait... SHOOT IT IN THE HEAD!!!!
  14. I don't think it would gambling if we did it PBS-style. For example, anyone with a donation of $50+ get a complimentary remix of their choice. ...and anyone with a donation of $350+ gets a complimentary Time Mage hat. Sorry, old meme is old. I just wanted to use that smiley.
  15. Happy birthday. That is some gorgeous art. Can't wait to hear the music.
  16. I posted the hell out of this on Facebook, and a few non-OCR goers reposted it as well. IT'S THAT GOOD.
  17. This is pretty great... I keep dying at the parts where you have to jump over the bombs though. Love the 8-bit art.
  18. Guys, I just had a beautiful, terrible thought. what if... what if...The ReMixinator is actually... a computer... hooked up to the brain of.... ...Graylightning.
  19. I have argued with djp at length about this. He continues to insist that it is a new wave of technology that will bring about the drastic change we've needed for a long time. I disagree. This is an abomination that will make the lifeless over-produced work of the 90's and 2000's look like masterpieces in comparison. He promised that we would discuss this further with me before posting it, but it seems he has jumped the gun. Whatever. It's his site. But that doesn't mean I have be involved with it anymore. As of today, I'm resigning from the judges panel, and formally requesting that all my remixes be pulled from the site. If you feel the same way, join me in a mass exodus to my new remixing website at http://ocvgmsauceremixmusic.comorg. I promise a new kind of video game remixing site unlike any you've seen before complete with an RPG points system and the illusion of non-remixer community involvement! There will even be an option whether you want a sidebar or not!
  20. There really aren't easier ways? I know there's the SID Station... but unfortunately, I left my $1000 in my other pants today. Are these MODs you speak of easier?
  21. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to get started working on C64 chiptunes? I really know absolutely nothing about C64 (I don't even know what one actually looks like), but I'm in freaking love with the way it sounds. I wanna get my hands on that instrument and make my own musicz with it.
